Hey brotha's//// Im 17 6'3 and currently bulking.... I take in clean calories all through the week but on friday we have football and they often times feed us before the games//// Sometimes its okay food such as hamburger steak/baked potato/ green beans/ but lately its been ham and cheeses from a local restaurant.... I normally eat two whole ones on french bread.... There really greasy but im hungry and i need to eat before a game.... I decided to make friday a cheat day because of this and i tend to eat candy throughout the day(not much, just like suckers) because the cheerleaders make us candy bags..... Then after the game i tend to go out and eat somewhere which lastnight we went to this restauraunt and i ate 2 chicken breasts, salad, baked potato... I was wondering if this is bad and if i can continue to splurge a lil on the weekends such as dining in a resturaunt.... My family tends to eat out on weekends...... I wont be eating too dirty.... It would be like a steak/chicken/fish/ with baked potato, brocolli, and salad,,...

What do you guys think??????

Help is appreciated... Thanks brotha's..... Ohh and im wanting to get big just without that much fat.... And i know it will take time but time is what i got...... THanks!!

cheating is ok, but watch how you do it. Try cheating twice a month, because if you cheat like that all the time, you will gain a lil bit of fat. The candy wont hurt you, but to much will. You seem to be eating pretty well so far, keep it up.

Shit I have a cheat meal or 2 every week- its fine. Look at guys like Trey Brewer, who says he treats himself to pizza and ice cream twice a week. And at the Arnold Wrath said he eats whatever he wants after he has had his clean foods. Cheating helps your body stay sane. You are obviously not cutting since you are playing football, so induldge sometimes. The candy throughout the day is bad tho, maybe try to limit it to a sucker or 2, not the whole bag. Ya know you could give it away to someone else- just depends on how strong your willpower is and how bad you want it...

depends on how ya body reacts to it
if it were me i would feel like shit playing after eating crap. i would bring something good to eat before practice or game.
yeah its ok to have a cheat meal or 2-once again depends on how your body reacts.

If you're hungry, just eat. No harm in eating a lot of clean food. Just be sure you're not filling up on junk constantly.

You should never, ever be hungry if you're bulking. If your stomach's rumbling, you're not eating enough. Load up on the good stuff brother - bulking isn't the time to watch your calories. Get fucking huge, and then worry about refining everything you've built later.

True...if you're bulking who cares. You can't eat clean all the time - that is actually impossible. A cheat meal is proven to help keep your body from going to a "starvation mode" and it's got good benefits for your mind to to keep you from going too far off.

As a football player myself, I know how hard it is to bulk, ecspecially during the season. With that said, dont worry about eating clean all the time. Back in high school our team would go out and eat Taco Bell or McDonalds after a win and the last thing I would worry about at that point was how many calories I was eating or how much fat or grease was in whatever I was putting down. Being on the field and running around as much as you do during practice and games, its going to be hard to keep your weight up anyways. Worry more about what you are eating when your cutting, but right now your in an ideal situation right now, IMO.

This reminds me... I was watching an FSN special on youtube with some of the players for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Colby Armstrong was in a McDonalds drive-thru ordering a milkshake, fries and some burgers and he was talking about how his nutritionist or dietician said for him to be eating that kinda stuf after being on the ice for almost 5 or 6 hours a day. The higher your activity.... the higher your caloric needs. You're still young so your metabolism is racing.... but don't go overboard with anything lol.

Would agree with Freakshow here, however don't go crazy with eating out. Keep it in moderation, 1 hamburger compared to 3 with french fries and a malt/shake will cause some damage. However Before your games, def intake BCAA's, and 3-5g of Creatine Mono, and make sure your hydrated. Take a mixture of Gatorade powder with pedalite to prevent muscle cramps. Also, intake of a slow disgesting carb source 2-3 hours pre-game will be ideal in increase glyocogen stores for the game. (Combine this with a slow digesting protein, casein). HOWEVER, do not eat any fat at this time, although an excellent source of energy, fat will for the most part make you sluggish if too much is consumed.

After the game, try to limit the candy bag, mainly because of the empty calories and at this point, if your parents in the stands could give you a real gains shake, or any weight gainer shake, that would be to your benefit. Then go out and enjoy yourself with your team.

Remember though, bodybuilding and diet is your lifestyle, and it is not your life, so if you want that hamburger, go ahead and have it, however keep it in moderation, keep your sodium levels high, salt a lot of the things you eat on game day to retain water in the muscles to prevent this. Pedalite will also help with keeping your body sufficient with electrolytes.

Hope this helps

Good point.

Obviously with my post I am just thinking like a football player, but this guy knows his stuff. Don't take my post so seriously that you are going to hit up the golden arches everyday, but being as young as you are and as active as you are, you have a leg up (or down when you are bulking) on most people as far as your body and your metabolism goes.

Agree'd as i played football as well when i was younger, and before a football game i'd be making hamburgers on the grill and eating lasuagna, heavy carb food, to carb up for the game. Although i gained VERY little weight (because of the extensive running/conditioning), my body comp. changed a lot. You will be burning a lot of calories with that extensive work, so i'd recommand jumping your carbs high somewhere roughly in the 400-500g a day range esp. if you are practicing in the heat. Def increase your sleep especially if you are lifting to prevent over-training muscle catabolism. And like Freakshow and i said, we both played football, we know how it is to get away with eating anything we want and then having a good practice, however you will benefit in the long run as well as keep your physique and increase your athletism by keeping for the most part your diet clean.

P.S. I know its typically tradition to slam some beers with your boys after a game, I'm not going to lie i did this tradition as well, however this is the most crucial time in which your body needs to stay hydrated, therefore for every 1 beer you consume, you need to drink AT LEAST 8oz of water. And before you consume the alcohol if you even drink, make sure to consume a solid protein meal rich and calorie dense.

Like the freakshow and I have said, this is your lifestyle NOT YOUR LIFE, dont let it control you and hold you back from the experiences you only get once.

I miss every single day of wearing my pads.

Thanks for the advice brothers... Really helped me.... I always keep my diet pretty much clean until this day,,, and i surely dont drink after a game.... Win or lose i gave that up a while back..... When i do cheat i make sure i get in something calorie dense or protein... And i figured a lil extra sugar on game-day wouldnt hurt to much.... But i try to limit it to one or two suckers..... But yea... Thanks for the advice guys....
