Well, I was doing bent over rows with 225 on for a few sets of 15 for a good burning type routine i have at the moment. And I had a Shut the Fuck Up and Train shirt on and some dude comes over and says you cant wear that shirt. You have woman around and little kids (no little kids at all). He works there as well. So what the hell? People like that need to suck it up and go train like an animal. Cause that shirt is motivation for me. Any one else get that happen to them in your gyms before? Cause i was livid lol

if he works there then he is looking out for the gym, even if he doesnt own it to help keep an even balance among the memebers. also be aware that if you are going to wear that shirt, you have to be prepared for what is coming to you. remember to be conscience about others who are around you, that might get offended by the shirt....just because they dont say anything doesnt mean it doesnt offend them.....lift the heavy weights but have some couth while doing it

I manage a gym, and as much as I love the Animal lifestyle, I would have asked you to change the shirt or leave the gym. Gotta show respect for others Bro, that is the Animal way also.
I'm with the others here bro. Gotta realize where your at sometimes. If you're in some dumphole warehouse lookin joint like we all wish we were at, more than likely you'll be okay with that shirt. If you're at some corporate place like a fuckin Ballys or Golds, they're going to police that shit, gotta respect that they've gotta look out for everyone.

Agreed. I mean sure that shirt is dope. I have the same one, Love it. But theres a time and place. Late night or early morning ok. But during the main run of the gym, If they asked you to not wear it anymore I'd understand. Would I agree with it? No...But I would respect it.

exactly why i got the "shut the f... up and train" shirt as opposed to "shut the fuck up and train."

Same here, plain "shut up and train" ... the 2 other ones were tempting but there is a line.. if you want respect, give respect.
i think this is funny, some of the things certain ladies are wearing in the gym these days are much more dangerous to little kids eyes than some small print on a tshirt that says "shut the fuck up" but i guess management dont mind some eye candy. lol

I have the same shirt on sometimes the owner read it and said I like it lol.
I am almost certain that the owners of my gym would hand them out to new members if they had any.

Bottom line... You shouldn't be wearing that shirt around little kids. Not being uptight or holier than thou, but you have to respect how other folks choose to raise their kids. Are you vulgar around little kids, ladies and the elderly? If not, you shouldn't be wearing a shirt in public places potentially trafficked by that element. Same principle. I curse like a sailor, when appropriate. When I should act like a gentleman, I have sense enough to do so. Don't reinforce stereotypes. Peace, G
I have that shirt too, dont wear it to the gym, I wear my other ones. I dont think I'll be able to get away with wearing that shirt to the gym until I'm as big as the pros. Until then, gotta wear the other ones.

I like that shirt... I just know where and when it is OK to wear it and when to keep it in the drawer, because I have a reputation to uphold and I live in society. Nothing is more diametrically opposed to what Animal is supposed to represent than ignorant, boorish assholes. Peace, G

That right there is the truth.
Being Animal is an attitude without a doubt. That doesn't mean bad attitude. Many people get that confused. I see it on here all the time. Fuck this, fuck that, fuck you. I see these young 14 and 16 year old kids talking like that on this very forum. I have kids and one of them is 15. If he talked like that, he knows I would put the hammer down. There's nothing cool or animal about it. Sure, I cuss and sware at times but I'm an adult. I know when it's can be tolerated and when it's just plain wrong. Just my 2 cents.

You could wear it at my gym, no women or children here (except I've seen the owners son once). That just means you'll have to move here and become my training partner.
At my gym, we allow kids (10 and up) to train with a parent. If you wernt around too many people, i may not have said anything until you were ready to leave as to not make a scene, but would have made you turn it iniside out for the time being. Love the shirt, but its gym rules here i guess.

I agree with G, definitely. The biggest issue is Respect, and the public stereotype of bodybuilders. We know that we are not egocentric & disrespectful, but the world outside does not know that. It's our job to show them that we truly hold respect and honor in the highest regard.

Yeah the modern bodybuilding world seems to be lacking the heroes like the Arnolds of the '70s. Not many people out there that represent the sport proudly, and that's a shame. Now before I get bashed on because I can be a dick, I would expect to be asked to take that shirt off, even though all my old-school stone cold steve austin shirts have middle fingers and cuss words so I guess I'm a hypocrit.

So we should be VERY concerned about what others think of us and we must uphold our reputation so as to be accepted by these peaple.

i respect the decision to not let vulgar words on shirts in public places even tho said kid will go home and watch tv for an hour and hear the f bomb a hundred more times but if you wanna hear real bullshit the manager at my gym wont let ppl wear cut off t shirts or sleeveless t's because hes a COCKSUCKER and doesnt think we should be able to show off our muscles but the soccer moms wearing low cut or the sport bras or shirts that cover about as much as a sport bra are fine all i have to say is WTF

bro, be above the fray....stick to your guns about training, diet and eating. there will be times when it seems that there are double standards or other shit that bothers you. who cares if the gym manager wont let cut-offs being worn or sleevless t's......sadly there are worse fucking travesties out there than not being allowed to show off your arms.....BE ABOVE THE BULLSHIT

It's not about conforming or everyone's gotta wear the same gear in order not to make anyone uncomfortable, it's about not being a dick in public.
C'mon....this is a simple point we all should agree upon no need to keep repeating the same shit.

I just mean that personally, I don't conform to anything. Whether or not someone likes me is not of my concern, but I do maintain standards of honor and ethics. It is not my desire to be of the world, just among it, as an individual. Some of us agree, however, to be ambassadors of the sport. To have a desire to be, in fact, so highly individual, that we force society to change their stereotypical perspective.

I workout at a local YMCA. I swear i say fuck and other words. BUT I never talk like that in the YMCA or around young people. Fact is if I am there and you are talking like that I will ask you to stop. I have 2 sons and I have asked others in public to watch their mouths around them. Just like all the others here respect your surroundings....peace Bros!

I aint like the rest of the people out there, if someone at a gym tells me i cant train there because of my clothes, fuck it, time to change gym. I lift heavy, i make noise when i lift, i wear shirts that say: Shut the fuck up and train etc. But i am polite towards people if they talk to me between sets, i help people if they ask. THATS ANIMAL!

I don't agree. Wearing a shirt that says "Shut the fuck up and train" does not make you an Animal. Shutting the fuck up and training like an Animal makes you an Animal. If I have to wear a t shirt to prove I am an Animal, well in my opinion they haven't made that shirt yet. It ain't the shirt fellas, it is the person wearing it.

I think sometimes we confuse the issues. Clothes, work boots, hardcore is not what you wear or your shirt says. It is the way you train, eat, live. If all it took was a t shirt then all we would have to do is put all the pretty boys in Animal shirts and the Legion would grow 10 fold overnight.
We are what we are because of what is inside us, not on the outside. It's not your car, your house, your gym. It is your heart and your soul that make you my Brother or Sister.

You didnt get me on this one apparently, the t-shirt doesnt prove i am animal, the way i am does. But if someone were to say: hey, you cant wear that, i would change gym in a heartbeat. I wear what i want to wear in the gym because atleast i live in a free country and i don't give 2 shits about if people get offended by me, my clothes, my way of life, its a principle. That was what i was trying to say, if anybody is understanding what i am saying here. I agree 100% with what you are saying, but do you understand what i am trying to say?

the guy comes out of nowhere and said that, there really isnt too many kids there in the gym exept for the far end of the gym. I was on the other side, sitting on the bench, looking at myself before i squated 315 lbs for reps. There are gay men at my gym that talk about other guys around girls etc, but i cant wear a shirt to motviate myself? I dunno, Its not like i signed a contract controlling my rights like in the military. I also wear that shirt for the people to see who sit around and do nothing but talk. Im probably one of the craziest person in my gym cause i yell and grunt all the time, especially when cheat curling 195 lbs. I see more violent and drugs tshirts in public eye then i do a shirt that says "shut the fuck up and train." its only for motivation purposes for the game of iron. cant see how it can be offending. O well, just downed a shake, bed time. later animals
