In a month, I'll be bulking. I'm at 9%bf. I will be going from 2300 calories a day to around 5000-6000 a day. My question is about cardio. I worked very hard to get my abs back. I don't want to lose it when bulking.
Currently, I lift at lunch, and then cardio for 45 minutes after/before work. So I lift 5 days a week (diff body part a day), and I have cardio 5 days a week. Do I need to switch cardio to 3 times a week? Or, should I keep everything the same since I'll be going up in calories?

I'm 6ft, 175 lbs. I want to be at about 200-210lbs by January. I know Ill get some fat, but I want little as possible (doesn't everybody?).

Any help/comments would be great. Thanks guys

If your bulking, cardio should be almost non-exsistent. I dont do any cardio on a bulk, and if I did, it wouldnt be for 45 minutes. So my suggestion is to do none, but you know your body. Are you a hardgainer? Or do you gain weight/fat/mass easily?

You got to ease up on that cardio. You're adding more calories to your diet to gain size, and the cardio is gonna burn them up so its kinda counteractive. And while bulking your gonna lose your abs to an extent. There's no way around it. You can't put on 25-35 lbs and expect that your midsection is gonna stay the same. Obviously continue to work your abs so that you don't have to cut back down to 175 to see them again. As you go through this cycle a couple of times you'll be able to carry more weight and be lean at the same time.

I would suggest cardio three times per week at 30 minutes light intensity maximum. Like Freakshow said you can take it out altogether if you would like. Your gains will suffer if you do a lot of cardio and you probably won't reach your goal.

yea, i'd figure it would come down to that. I plan on eating the same meals, just larger quanities. Also, I plan on take a weight gainer protein. Should I consume the 1g/per lb to gain size, or 1.5g/per lb?

I would go 1.5 if not more on a bulk.

oreos...lots of them, LOL

seriously though, lots of red meat, potatos, pasta, Real Gains is a great shake to use. You want the most bang for your buck with your caloric intake, so look for high calorie foods that will provide a solid nutritional profile.

Good luck bro.

Bro, if you are trying to stay lean during your bulk, I'm going to tell you straight up. You will sacrifice gains. Your not going to put on 30 pounds of LBM by january. Not gonna happen. If you want to get to 205 from 175 in 3 months time, you can and will gain fat.

The most effective way to gain a signfiicant amount of LBM is to increase your weight drastically over a long perioid of time and then take your time cutting down, you will see results, I garentee it.

personally for cardio during bulking I do about one hour total per week split into 3 20 minute sessions. cardio is good for nutrient partioning and to keep your endurance up for lifting, but if you feel like it's just sapping your energy rather than giving you more, cut it down.

tjeff, heres what i did. Iam currenty 6ft 188-189 pounds and bulking to 205-210 i do no cardio what-so-ever since iam a hardgainer, just do an ab routine 3x a week to keep your midsection still there even if it is hidden under a little layer of fat, in my opinion i would do no cardio if your a had gainer, and eat eat eat lots of cleaner calorie dense food and if you are a hard gainer don't be afraid to have a cheat DAY or 2 to help pack on some of that extra mass

I plan on going up in calories gradually. Or I can eat 50 bags of peanut m&m's a day. But I'll diffinitely lose my abs that way.

graduale increase of calories over time or jumping into 5-6K cals a day?
i would suggest increasing slowly, maybe starting off with 3k at 1st, keeping track of wt/body changes while you do it...you may find you dont need 5-6K cal ED to gain...plus i would keep cardio and work out schedule the same...this way you know your still getting a good cardiovascular work out, whilst keeping excess fat at bay.
