Hey guys im 20 years old and my weight is 205lbs. Ever since i first started working out i came in at about 180 and i moved up about 20lbs. ive been in the game for about a year and a half. Im looking for more mass but i have been contemplating about going for cut. All my eating habits and work outs have mostly focused on gaining mass. I was trying to get some suggestions to see if i should start cutting for about 14-16 weeks, or just keep bulking up. I have never been cut or really vascular but i do look foward to it. I was also wondering if i do go for some cuts obviously im going to slim down but if i later decide to gain some mass again, is it pointless to cut now. thanks alot guys. well im off the the gym to release the beast inside of me.

I was disappointed when I first cut at the amount of muscle I actually had VS. the amount of muscle I thought I had. I regretted it and wished I would have just kept bulking.

On the other side of the coin, now that I did it, I can see my new muscle growth much better and enjoy my body composition, definition, and vascularity much more.

In the end, I say "refine", but don't try to get REALLY low bodyfat unless your actually going to do a contest.

In my personal, unprofessional opinion the word cut shouldnt even be in your vocabulary. You seem to be back and forth between cut or bulk- typical for a beginner (you say youve only been in the game 1.5 years). When I started 5 years ago, I wasnt sure if I was ready to put on the excess weight that came with a REAL bulk. But things have changed drastically. Bulking is actually the fun part- cutting sucks.

My advice to you is to continue to pack on the mass. Ask yourself this: what reason do you have to cut? Are you competing soon? If not then why the fuck are you contemplating a cut? for the ladies? to look "good" year round? well listen here bro, that isnt going to get you shit in this sport.

But again this is just my personal opinion as an amatuer bodybuilder, if you want a professional's opinion, Id say ask Machine.....he'll set you in the right direction.

just clean up your diet, take out any sloppy calories and eat for mass but do so on a very clean strict diet and youll make sure youre putting on lean mass for the most part. If you dont have a contest and youre body fay isnt too high, dont worry about it. I like to be able to see atleast my top two abs when i flex them standing or else i start to feel a bit sloppy, but thats just me.

hey thanks a lot guys for the feed back, its been really helpful. well i am 6'0 and my diet usually consists of oatmeal, brown rice, chicken, beans, egg whites, tuna, wheat bread, i try to eat fruits. right now i am taking universal real gains and universal creatine monohydrate with animal paks. thats about it. thanks a lot i think you guys set my mind for more bulk. i dont think i should be leaning towards cutting because im not even ready for comp. :) well im off for my 5th meal so thanx.

I say stay in between 10 and 15% bf for most of the time. I read somewhere that you are the most anabolic in that bodyfat zone.
