ive lost about 80lbs i do not eat any junkfood like chips cookies candy ice cream etc but now that i am working out i will eat a protein bar occasionally but i noticed that a lot of them hav a lot of sugar or sat fat...i also noticed fat free frozen yogurt with splenda has no fat or sugar. my mind tells me never to eat junk food but the frozen yogurt seems healthier then protein bars just it doesnt have protein... is the protein bar healthier? u could jus drink a shake with the frozen yogurt for some extra protein right?

If you're bulking I don't see either one of those being a problem.

By the way, no offense intended brother, but that post made me dizzy. Had to read through it about 3 times to help you out. A little punctuation never killed anybody.

If you have lost 80 lbs (congrats on your present success by the way) and struggle past or present with a sweet tooth, I foresee you not really interested in ‘bulking’ are you? With that being said, I’d suggest sticking to the frozen yogurt if that helps subdue your cravings and provides you with that low fat snack your after. However if you are seeking additional protein, I’d recommend consuming a protein shake over a protein bar. Like you mentioned, the majority of protein bars out there aren’t really diet friendly. Find yourself a nice tasting low fat/low sugar protein powder (ideally a protein isolate) and enjoy. It would be far more cost effective per gram of protein than a bar as well. Try chocolate…it would no doubt make a great dessert after your frozen yogurt.

Read those nutrition labels, do some homework and eat smart. Hope that helps…

Agreeing with the bro's post, another solution would be adding the frozen yogurt to your protein drink (mix it in a blender), makes a nice drink/dessert. Careful slamming ice cream though...LOL!

Go with the frozen yogurt. No sugar and no fat = healthy snack. Yeah, there's no protein, but it's a snack, not a meal so I wouldn't worry about it not having protein.

Protein bars are over-rated. I only use them if there is nothing else available.

Congratz... I too was a big loser a few years ago, not as much as yourself but it feels good. For snacks... I would say Trail Mix... Love the stuff I have 2 2KG bags right beside me and one in my car just incase of emergencies.

What kind of yogurt has no protein?

Try this, instead of going the frozen yogurt, take 1.5 scoops of casein, (whey will work also, just use less water), and take 1tbs of natural pb, make into a pudding like mixture, throw into the freezer for 30 minutes.. wa-la, you have your HEALTHY, all natural frozen yogurt.

As far as protein bars go, make your own, although i agree you can get away with them on a bulk like giant_killer said, i'd stay away from them regardless, most of them are loaded with sugar, use soy as their main source of protein (EVEN THOUGH SOY IS HEALTHY, and has shown in multiple studies to not increase estrogen as the common myth has it). Try this:

Take 1 cup oatmeal (blend it dry)
Take 1.5 scoops of whey (toss it in blender and let it mix in with the oats)
take 2tbs of natural PB, put in a microwave safe bowl, microwave for 30 seconds (or until melted)

Put dry into peanut butterbowl, put very little water, until it becomes a thick consistancy.

Let sit for 2-3 minutes, using a spoon/knife on foil make into a bar formation

Throw into freezer, and let freeze.

There you have it, no sugar loaded, all whey/casein loaded, and the carbs/fats are coming from healthy natural sources.
