Diet---egg whites-chicken-top round-whey protein-grilled fish-oats-rice-potatos-veggies...you all feel me...

Vinny, House, Lad, Toni69...you just finished yours a while back...Ox, Big Al and myself are still going through it...

Was watching the Battle for the Olympia 06' while doing cardio today...Dexter Jackson..."The Blade" after his workout went to the Japanese Hibachi steak house (he always EATS there after his workout) and ordered a grilled steak....Okay now Dex was 12 days out from the Mr. O. He ate a small salad with a oil-ginger dressing, while his steak was cooking on a grill with some water-oil, he ate 3 spicy tuna rolls, his steak arrived on his plate-with shrimp and soy sacuce. He than scooped out what looked to be about 1 1/2 cups of rice...And we all know what condition Dex comes into the shows at..
THEY CALL HIM THE BLADE! HE IS RAZOR SHARP!!!

Point being, I can't do this 2 weeks out, and don't know many people who can...Dexter gets ripped-lean very easily, he doesn't do much pre-contest cardio! In the off season, he eats what he wants!

It comes down to his genetics and metabolism...which are great for bodybuilding!

Find out what works for you, sure try some things other people do-say...but customize to fit your body-genetics-lifestyle--your goals!

Shit--it is the Peanut Butter Captain Crunch with skim milk...after you eat 4 bowls of the cereral, you have some milk left over, now you dip the Pepperidge Farm Oatmeal Rasin Cookies in the left over milk..to boost your natural Growth Hormone levels!

I am good, thanks for asking...less than 3 weeks until my first show, than Nationals in TX in less than 7 weeks!

Doing my best everyday!

Whats up bigant. NIce post, I agree completely. Every body, and everybody is different and certain things work or don't, in terms of lifting, dieting, even working or studying. Regardless I'm really in the mood for sushi with brown rice instead of white.

BTW I started my diet...oatmeal, tuna, chicken, ground turkey, brown rice,, whole wheat pasta, and raw nuts. Peanut butter and Bannanas too.

Any recomendations for protein? And when should I take it.

You can PM if you don't wanna clutter the thread.

This is a good thread. Every show that I have competed in so far, my diet was never exactly the same twice. Each time I had to adjust to significant variations that were out of the norm for me, tweaking my diet to make even the smallest of changes and improvements..to look better on that stage. Nov 1 is rolling around and BigAnt..I will be where you are once again and this time will be most challenging for me.

I think its even harder for me as a woman because we carry fat differently than you guys do and the fat we carry is def obvious in a dam tiny ass suit!

Yes, different strokes for different folks. My first show..my trainer never worked with a woman before and he was a straight up hardcore BB'r like Vinny G, Ox and you BigAnt. He trained and dieted me like he would any other guy and my physique visibly suffered from it.

Keep in mind though, without that first experience, I would have never known I had that drive and that competitive fire burning inside me to continue to improve on my physique and the athletic ability to survive within this sport. That first show and all the dieting scenerios you experience from show prep, may it make or break you...is a true testament of your time, your effort, your will...everything you invest in your training.

These guys BigAnt mentioned may have been piggin out, but then again...how many shows have they done to actually realize they can manipulate their diets as such to meet their needs and who knows...there may be a time where they did everything exactly the same...dieted the same exact way for years at a time and then one show...it just doesnt work the way they wanted it to. I think its still a guessing game...you never really know how you will turn out on that stage even if you did everything by the book.

Lets keep in mind a fast metabolism makes putting on mass all the harder. Its a double edged sword.

god i wish i was a rich body builder and could eat ridiculously delicious food prepared for me at a hibachi grill after every workout... before a show eating as much as he did and with that much carbs tho, dex is just a machine. to be honest tho, i really dont think i could handle precontest prep with cutting out certain foods and trying to manipulate my water intake... i definitely tip my hat to all that do.

speaking of which, im ordering the black animal hat as we speak!!

something is missing from that equation that helps play a very large role in one's metabolism and food processing/utilizational abilties...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

At two weeks out, most people are on a "lower" carb diet....Dex has roughly 80-90 grams at post workout-pre contest...this equals and is less than some daily carb intakes!

Off-season, sure...boat-load the carbs in!

Again genetics-metabolism plays an important role!

I like this post. Going a bit off-topic, but staying on the title of the thread, comes down to training. Another mistake I see alot of people making in the gym is following the "latest" routine. They pick up a muscle magazine, see what 300lb jay cutler is doing during his workouts and then attempt to mimic. If you weigh 150lbs soaking wet, how do you possibly expect what works for MR olympia to work for you?

I like the lower volume, higher frequency split especially for beginners. I see alot of real skinny people doing 10 sets on their arms, doing all types of isolation moves, cable crossovers, front raises, pushdowns and ignoring compound moves. You Can't workout the way the pro's do if you are a beginner!

I agree with you guys 100%, but being a beginner myself (only been into the game for a little less then a year) I found myself mimicking alot of what I read in books and mags. You have to start somewhere, and the only way to find what works for you, is to go through things that dont work. I started with a program out of a FLEX mag, and was in the gym for 2 hours a day, 3 days a week and got nowhere, but I lived and learned. Now my workouts are down to 45-60 mins, I've lost over 110lbs, and gained a nice amount of muscle mass even through losing all the weight. But yea, Its all about finding the workout/diet that works for you, dont be afraid to try new things in order to get there...

"Results aren't guaranteed, they're EARNED.

I'm the same exact way as Dex..Excellent cutting genetics..i could eat junk all day (Never would) and then go to the gym and still see striations and vascularity...I build muscle with minimum fat..just takes a little longer to make the scale move..But i'm not gonna complain...My diet consists of ground beef..potatoes..oats..eggs..chicken..rice...whey and weightgainers.

My damn thick waisted Italian genetics....I walk by the pizza shop and gain weight, right to my butt & gut!

It is all good, just gotta suffer a while longer when contet dieting, but see me in the off-season 245lbs. with decent abs...love to eat!
