Hey bros.

What is your favorite lift to perform? Deads? Bench press? Upright row?

Mine is the squat. I recently decided to stop cheating myself on leg day and really go crazy on the squats; Now I can't get enough!

Mine is the squat.

Addictive eh?

Mines the deadlift and has been for quite awhile, in my opinion the best builder out there.

flat bench press and chained dips. Can't choke the reps, and i see fast improvement.. easier to get motivated to push forward

That's cool. Deads used to be my favorite. Unfortunately, overtraining on 'em caused me to lay them aside for a while. Still up there though.

Just can't get enough of those fuckin' squats! The thrill of constantly addin' plates, and then powering up... hell yeah...

I got to go with the bent barbell rows. Done correct and they are a kick ass back exercise.

I used to be a huge fan of overhead presses, but tendonitis has slowed me down a bit with them. Now I'm really getting good form with my squats, so they're starting to grow on me.

i freakin love power cleans

i used to hate them, then i got my form right and i instantly started addi pound to them= now i love them

SAMSON
01-23-07, 10:25 pm
mine used to be the squat, but injuries have hurt my form lately and i have become a huge fan of the deadlift. Back is the number one workout that i look forward to every week, just because i cant wait to pull some heavy weight and see all the little freshman at the gym stop in the middle of their workouts to stare and come ask how much weight is on the bar. cant wait til i can afford to lift at a real gym, because the ones at OSU are crap. i get yelled at for being too loud and for using chalk, but they charge me $78 for every three months whether i want to lift there or not.
sorry to rant, but i just came from there and i hate it a little more every time.

When I was naive it was the bench because that's what everybody loves. Of course the bench is great, but Deads are so much more addicting! I just recently started going heavier. I'm glad I got the correct form down before going heavy.

I fucking LOVE weighed chins. Go ahead...go to your gym and find ONE GUY that can do more than 15 without weight. Its like finding a needle in a haystack. It's just amazing to me that people over look them for building width. It's also astounding to me that people (even guys who swear they're strong as oxen, and can bench 400 lbs) cannot do them without swinging their legs and looking like their going to have a seizure. I think this exercise might separate the men from the boys, even more so than squats and deads.

Hell yea man... Nothin' like old school t-bar rows. Hands down my favorite. Squats come in at a very close second--just can't get enough.

This guys on the money, heavy t- bar rows and barbell rows i think really are a great exercise to do, makes the back feel full and thick.

Is there a video where I can look at that exercise?

Any back exercise is my favorite, and squats are starting to grow on me, but they kick my ass. Right now, DL is my favorite.

One question though, I don't let the weight hit the ground, I just keep my back straight and go a little past my knees, with my knees being slightly bent. Is this considered acceptable form, and if I let it hit the ground, would I get bigger, faster?

EDIT: Nevermind, a quick video search on google showed me what that is. So it works just the same if you use a regular barbell? Do you grab outside the weight or inside in the grip area?

I would have to go with Deads, but it depends on where I need to improve. I am comming back from a shoulder injury and presses are what I look forward to the most at this time.

Amen. My bench sucks, I puke when I squat, and the arnold press makes me see stars but my legs and back are by far my strongest muscle groups.

grab a BB, stick it in a corner if the room. throw some 45s on there and grab the row handles and put them round the BB where the weight is. bend the knees, keep the back straight, head up and pull till the weight hits your chest, then bring back down. repeat.

as for my favorite exercise, love pullups cuz no one else can really do them but jerk and cleans are always fun.

I feel u, bro. Weighted chin(pull-ups) are what it's all about. In the gym I go to there is always dust from the last week when I did them. Incline Barbell Press is still my favorite though.

I can only do 5 without weight. and I already look like I'm having a seizure. LOL!

My fave exercise is deadlifting, but I'm not doing it right now since I just returned to lifting. I'll make my body adapt first and do other things before I go back do the good stuff.

Close second is clean and press.

Yea i cant pick just one but i fuckin love deads, its just such an overall mass-power builder! Also it really fuckin pisses off those assholes in the gym that say "that exercise is too noisy", "he's gonna drop dat weight thro' the floor", you gotta love it!!

My faves are squats and skullcrushers. Squats at 405 and repping away is like nothing else in the world. Skullcrushers though cuz since every jackass in the world does curls to get big arms. however you give them a exercise like skulls they freak out when that weight comes down at their face.

WEIGHTED dips are king. Try them with weight around neck to hit a little more chest, or around waist for more tris. I find low rep, higher weight dips have improved my tricep strength more than words can describe. I like to stay around 6 reps.

Close second is T-bars, bar in corner with plates staked on it.

Wish I could do deads, because I think it's THE BEST exercise out there. My lower back just ain't right. Once in a while I'll give them a try and I'm out of the game for a week and can't walk. Form isn't the issue, lower back is.

Weighted Dips are becoming a new favorite for me. I also love training back so seated rows are a favorite. Other than that good ole flat bench press and bench squats are classics for me.

Dips are a good call. I love barbell curls because biceps are such a small muscle (just not on me, lol) and you can rip them to shreds.

I have to say barbell curls because I love the way my arms feel afterward ready to explode.

I Can't name only one, but if I could do 10 and only do 10 movements in the gym for the rest of my life, they would be:

1. Box Squats
2. Bench Press
3. Bent over Barbell Rows
4. Standing Overhead Barbell Presses
5. Stiff Leg Deadlifts off a 4 inch platform
6. Glute Ham Raises
7. Pull ups
8. Weighted Decline/Roman Chair abs
9. Suitcase Deadlifts
10 Dumbell tricep extensions
