Something Ive been pondering lately, Im looking for ways to budget to be able to afford my mass gain while on a college budget and realize I spend a good ammount of coin on water for me its 6 gallon jugs of poland spring a week and 70 .5liter's between my girl and I (mostly me prolly 15 from her).

Now granted I buy in bulk from Bj's but Im thinking of getting a filter or home delivery to cut this expense down.

not to mention all the empties, im not a tree hugger but I know its wastefull, not to mention there are empties everywhere, by the bed, all over the apt, all over my car ect...

question: how much you spend on water a week?

I hear ya can get water free these days....
there's two gallons in my fridge at all times.....runs out, I go to the kitchen and fill em at the sink.......get a brita if you really want...there's absolutely no reason you should be constantly paying for a source of water...

I recently read an really in-depth article in my Honors Bio class discussing the negative effects of bottled water. It found that even the lower quality tap water in the United States was two times as clean as some bottled waters tested. Been hitting up my kitchen faucet for my two gallons ever since.

I admit... I'm snobbish, I gotta buy it. All I taste in my house is copper, filtered or not. I go through 36 .5 L's on a slow week. 24packs of Marsh water for $3.50... I think I can swing that with as much as I put into my supps.

I do add milk to the mix though in the mornings and evenings get that little extra bit of caesin boost.

Yea..I dont do tap water. Between the egg thread and now this one..how do I survive? LOL Im not even gonna touch the subject of how much I spend on food and supps.

Water..let's see...I buy 6-packs of 1.5 litre bottles. I usually get 4-6 6-packs a week at $3.63 a case. About $22 a week on water...$88-100 a month most likely.

I dont drink milk, juice or soda other than a bit for my boy...so I save there! LOL

I had a lifesource whole house water filtration system installed from here: http://www.lifesourcewater.com/ It wasn't too expensive and made a really nice difference. Now my tap water tastes like fresh water. The water bill for my house is about $11/mo.

When you lay out the kinda money we have to every month for food & supps you gotta take whatever you can for free, and water is one of the few freebies out there. I get mine from a mix of tap at home and from a free mineral water dispenser at work.

If your tap water in your area is too hard, then invest in a britta water filter, makes all the difference...

Brita faucet filters are great. You get 100 gallons of water per filter, and you can turn it on and off so you're not constantly using the "good" water. Plus, the whole system costs about $30 or so, and replacement filters are no more than $10-$20 (I think). Their pitchers are great too. However, when I was at school, I just drank "regular" tap water, as it was really good in Champaign-Urbana. Joliet water, on the other hand, kinda needs the filter...

$1 per day for a gallon.
I drink distilled water - I have a well and the water is not so good even after filtration.

Water is free, why the hell do I have to waste $50 a month (based on the amount of water I drink).

$50 gone..shit, I would rather buy cans of Animal products with that $50, not water.

Trust me it is not the water that is bad in tap, research the piping of your area and that may be the reason why it taste funny.

Trust me, save your money.

I have a dupont water filter screwed on to my tap. Best thing i've ever done. The fixture itself was like 20 bucks, then the filters are 6 dollars and the last for 100 gallons. So, I guess its around $28-30 for the first 100 gallons, and then only about $6 after that unless I have to buy a new jug.

trust me guys, I wish it was so simple as drinking out of the tap, BUT i live in an apartment that i rent not own, and yes the pipes in this shitty city are way old, we have advisory's here every couple months or so where you have to BOIL your water to drink it. tap without a filtration system at least is not an option

I've got a PUR water filter at home, but it takes so long to fill anything up (pressure too low) i end up drinking straight from the TAP. my gf's the real reason i bought the filter in the first place. lol. I don't mind tap water at all. I've spent too many summers (bootcamp, OCS) filling my canteens straight from the sink. and chugging it down no prob. Louisiana water's pretty tolerable. Not that i can tell. :D. and here at work (where I'm atm) They won't let me drink out of the fountain. so i go to the local store and buy the big 2.5Gal knozzled jug. costs about $2.50 get 2 of those a week. so about $5.00 a week.

If you're looking for cheaper alternatives, and cant use the tap water, you can always try the Culigan refills at places like Wal-mart. I think you pay a dollar for the first jug, and then 25 cents afterwards or what not. Thats something you can try.

Basically some tap is fine, some is just bearable and some is just not on. All depends on the water company your state/county comes under. In London the tap water is fine. Up north the water gets considerably harder to the point you have to boil and filter it. Until i win the lottery or hit oil, im stickin with tap...

I go to Wal-Mart and buy my gallons of distilled water by the case.

3 gallons to a case for 1.92$.

I buy about 7 - 8 cases for about 15 bucks.

A months supply for 15 bucks isn't too bad, especially when it's distilled.

For the really picky, you can get an under the sink RO system for $100-$150. From there on it's just replacing the filter media however often needed. And as I look at my Walmart gallon jug of drinking water, it comes from the Ft. Worth municipal supply and has been run through an RO system. Personally I just have a Pur faucet mount filter. Lasts for a month or two and I just refill a gallon jug.
