what are get bigs and what are HS presses?

Get Bigs are something myself and my training partner made up, basically you take something very heavy, 100lb DBs or so, and hold them in your hands as your standing up and try to move them out ward, they only move about 4-5 inches or so, but they burn your delts and traps as a whole.

Good work on the weekend TTl, i say several bros asking about the get Bigs, In an ironman mag a few years back Vic martinez said he does something similar, he does laterals with a slightly lighter set of weights for a normal rep range, then right after picks up another set of dumbells that could be up to twice as heavy and moves em out to the side as far as possible, only several inches to get a good burn in the side lateral head, Killer move, it was cool to see you using something similar, but your own version, in your workout, 225 might be light, maybe set the sights on 230-235!

What's the Get Bigs?

Basically, you grab something pretty heavy usually, 100s or so and hang them down to the side, try to push them out as far as you can, its kind of like a DB side delt, but only like 2-3 inches from your side.


I stole ur GetBigs last nite, good stuff my friend. As always, loving the volume, most guys do that amount of shoulder work in 2-3 weeks, good stuff

Absolutely man. Hard Work = Rewards for sure. And yes i really do notice my chest work has been up like crazy.

For instance. My last 1RM was 315 on flat, and that was after simply warming up. Now, ill do 2 warm up sets, 2 sets of 8 + 5 forced, and then my last set will be 315 for 5 or so + 5 forced and then a drop. So i would imagine my 1RM has gone up substantially since im doing 315 for 5 after all that work. I like it and it works for me, so im going to continue on this path my brother.

Hit my goal of 225, and im feeling large, Its time to trim it down. Shop prep starts .. tomorrow. I have a big show planned, and i have to take my time with this one. The weekend has got me motivated to constantly do better. Hitting 21 reps at 315 deads put a hurtin on me. I am going to write a full write up of the weekend, just not at this point. I just wanted to get a quick update. Tomorrow is full fledged show prep. Here we go.
