how is the knee? something you might try as it helped me tons. you can go to walmart and get a knee brace by mueller, it has a donut and some little bending braces medial and lateral and velcros on so it is easier to get on and off. offers great support to the knee and is a hell of a lot cheaper than the semicustom ones and works well. looks kind of cheesey but what the hell if it works, right? i wasnt smart enough to use one before surgery but i used it afterwards as i went back to work a few days after. it helped me to feel more stabile when i was injecting the horse joints.

Yea i actually picked up something like that from Sports Authority, it is a McDavid one. Works well, thanks!

When doing incline on the smith, how far up on ur torso do u place the bar when coming down? I find a little to close to the neck puts a lot of uneeded pressure on my delts, any tips?

How much of an angle do you have the seat at? I have played around with it alot, and i like it pretty low but obviously still on an incline, probably at a 150 degree angle. Then i bring it down to the top of the chest. Thats where i found i like it best.

Pumpkin was only in 2 of the vids my man, its a great very clean food that many people forget about.

Tuna is a very clean source of protein as well, it gets rough after a while.

Contest prep started Monday 3/14/2011. Currently i am sitting 17 weeks out, at a solid 205 lbs in the morning. The reason why i am starting already is because i will be having surgery as i was diagnosed with a torn ACL. The surgery is tentatively next week, i will find out on Thursday when i get all my pre-surgery tests done. I want to be 100% for Team U, so i am starting my diet now. If i can make it through surgery, and not be set back so much, then im good to go. I know i am facing a difficult road, but i would rather try and see how i make it through. I have possibly the largest obstacle, of my life, standing in my way, but it will be taken day to day, and ill be where i need to be. Diet has not changed much, as i was eating very clean during the week already. Weights are staying the same, and ill be continuing to train heavy.

Contest prep started Monday 3/14/2011. Currently i am sitting 17 weeks out, at a solid 205 lbs in the morning. The reason why i am starting already is because i will be having surgery as i was diagnosed with a torn ACL. The surgery is tentatively next week, i will find out on Thursday when i get all my pre-surgery tests done. I want to be 100% for Team U, so i am starting my diet now. If i can make it through surgery, and not be set back so much, then im good to go. I know i am facing a difficult road, but i would rather try and see how i make it through. The only thing that slowed me was the torn menisci, so I'm sure you'll be back raising hell soon enough. I can promise you though, you will emerge mentally stronger having endured the experience. Curious to hear what kind of work they're doing to the knee. Full ligament replacement?

Whats up G. I actually ended up having meniscus damage as well, by reading the MRI he said i did, but didnt think it needed to be repaired. I was happy about that, but after the surgery ma dukes talked to him and said it was much more severe than he thought. I asked him about autograft v allograft. He said for me and the strength of my legs, no donor would match the tendons i have now, so we went with the autograft, and yes it was a full ligament replacement. Ill find out more on Friday.

Surgery was Tuesday morning at 7am. It went well, but doc said it was more severe than he had thought, as i had meniscus damage as well. The opted to do an Autograft(using my own ligament) to make a new ACL. He said no donors would have the strength and tough quality tendons I already have. Right now im in a full leg brace that restricts any movement, while there is weight on it. The doc said to try to walk on it with out the crutches and putting weight on it is good, so Tuesday i was on two crutches, yesterday i was on one, and today im trying to get around with out any, its difficult, but its gotta get done. I also lay in a CPM machine for 6 hours a day, 2 in the AM, 2 in the afternoon, and 2 in the PM. It continuously bends my knee to a set angle, yesterday was 0-30, today its 0-40, and it goes up 10 degrees every day, that hurts like hell, but it is supposed to stop the scar tissue buildup. Friday i go back to see the doc already and ill know more then.

I aint no pro-squatter, but mine numbers havent done anything but go up since my knee was done. And the flexing of the tendon really does help keep your ROM, but damn does it burn like its on fire... Heal up fast, brother

Glad to hear the surgery was a success C. Recovery is gonna be a pain in the ass but a lot of people come back stronger than they ever have been. I am still recovering my ankle and the hope is that it will be that much stronger because of all the exercises. Good Luck with all of your PT. We are with you bro.

What kind of rehab are you doing?? Ask you doc about. Getting out of the immobilizer early. An early plan that includes active or passive motion of the joint have both been shown to greatly improve recovery times and outcomes. Continuous passive motion machines look into it. There is some conflicting info on it regarding acl repair but when used in elbow injuries the difference is dramatic. If you doc is against it just try to move as much as possible. It will help take wastes and debris away form the joint reduce swelling and prevent degeneratioof the joint, it will also help you graft heal correctly on a microscopic level.

One of my best friends just had his acl and miniscus torn and replaced 4 days ago and i've been helping him out at home with it, so i've seen exactly what it will be like. Thanks brotha. Yea they have it immobilized in the full leg brace, but a day out he had me on the CPM machine. By Saturday I was at 90 degrees no problem. I went to see him Friday, and he took the dressing off, and im not cleared to un hook it when im sitting, as well as take it off and shower, and walk around a bit without anything. He has me doing some home exercises to get the movement back fully. Im going for a Physical Therapy eval Tuesday, and see what they say.

Monday - The long road has started. Back to our so called "Normal Life" and back to reality. The daily struggle to be the best has just been amplified and kicked up a notch. Easy things, have been hard, and are starting to get a bit easier again, but it will all take time. I will have to go to a few Physical Therapy sessions in order to get my quad moving again, and then back to the doctor next Monday. He said my progress is great, so that's good to hear. I'm up and walking and bearing weight without a crutch, and im off all pain meds as of Thursday night.

Team Universe is 15 weeks out. Right now its still up in the air, and i am still in the contest prep diet, but without the cardio it will be cutting it close. I dropped a good amount of weight from the surgery and recovery and not eating as much as i should for a few days. Ill be taking it day to day, and ill make the final decision in a few weeks.

I got back into the gym Monday just to get some blood flowing. Im taking it easy, but i still need to get back into it as im in contest prep.

Double up on the FLEX, get tons of Omega 3 (4000 MG should be max) and that will heal you quickly. Be sure to get 3000-4000 IU's of Vitamin D3. Without Vit D, your body cannot properly assimilate your Calcium intake. Calcium will also help rebuild that area as well.

Just want to help! The above will all help to rebuild any and all cartilage, drastically reduce inflammation and will shuttle nutrients to the affected area for an enhanced healing effect.

Double up on the FLEX, get tons of Omega 3 (4000 MG should be max) and that will heal you quickly. Be sure to get 3000-4000 IU's of Vitamin D3. Without Vit D, your body cannot properly assimilate your Calcium intake. Calcium will also help rebuild that area as well.

* Went to Docs today. Second post op went well. All stiches out, healing up very nicely. ROM is to a solid 90, but with the meniscus damage, doc doesnt want me to push past there for a few more weeks. My brace was shortened up a bit. One more week of walking with it locked, and then two weeks of walking with it unlocked, and then im brace free! I was also cleared to hit up the bike.

* Every day is getting easier. First few revolutions on the bike are a little tight, no pain, just tight. But it loosens right up and im moving along very well now. Up to 45 mins. Every day im adding another 5 mins to get to 60. I am on track still, 13 weeks out at 197lbs. Brace is still on for another 1.5 weeks or so but it is unlocked so i am now walking with out it being strait. It feels like it is constantly getting stronger.

If it doesnt, then ill prob put on a few lbs, but stay relatively lean, and do a show in September .. Knee is doing well, one more week with the brace, but i have been walking around the house with out it. Still a little uneasy, but certainly getting better. Able to do the bike for a full hour now with minimal pain, and some light intensity. All baby steps my brotha! How are you holding up?

haha it's really testing my patience and time management but I'm grinding through it man! i've never seen abs on my body and now when I flex I see something and it's scary. plus striation on my quads are scaring people in the gym! hahaha

Yea the Golds is at my middle school, that was one of the first shows I did in 2008. Great show. I am going to decide on Team U in the next 5-6 weeks or so. If im not ready, Ill most likely just take the year off, and come back for next year. We will see how it goes.

In the past i would do 45 mins in the AM on the treadmill, and then 30 mins post workout on the stepper. So it is a bit different. But the bike is all i can do for right now.
