A buddy of mine in Toronto recently ordered some Gear from AP.com and when he went to go pick it up, he was charged about $50 (USD) in order to get his package which cost a little over $100 (USD) So i contacted Animal and they informed me that the fee is assessed by UPS and not them so there isnt anything they can really do. Just thought i would pass this on to anyone that lives in Canada.

That is very common for Canada and has nothing to do with AP.

Yup…welcome to Canada.

All the major carriers such as DHL, UPS and FedEx charge exorbitant brokerage fees based on a % of the value of imported goods. They are in it to make their money too. Anything coming over the border is defiantly preferred USPS as they only charge a $5-$10 handing fee. Request them if you have the option.

Ordering from bb.com, by way of FedEx.

4 items seized at customs. And got a letter from FedEx yesterday, charging me extra shipping weight for 2 tubs of TORRENT..... which were seized.

So they want $50 extra shipping for 2 items i will never even recieve!

Always check the additional shipping costs.

I need to get an american postal box in order to have my sups delivered there. I then have just a 3 hour drive to get them.

I would suggest if you guys have strategies for getting your supps past customs, you use good judgement and don't post them in a public forum. Universal Nutrition doesn't advocate the acquistion of their products through illegitimate channels. Peace, G

Sorry I was taken seriously. I have never had anything stopped at the border. It wouldn't be worth my time and gas money to drive and pick up sups. I just fantasize about not having to wait the additional 2 weeks it takes to get something shipped to my home.

I will also take this opportunity to make mention that the OP ‘Venom’ made these comments regarding additional fees when a Canadian buddy of his was receiving GEAR from AP.com over the border, not supplements. It seems the purpose of this post has been lost in translation. Order gear all you like…just be aware of logistics fees. Supplements however should be purchased in-country only as Universal/ANIMAL does not want their products shipping from the States into Canada, which has been discussed on this Forvm before. There are plenty of Canadian resellers buying from an exclusive distributor authorized by Universal which has been set up for us – use them.

Funny you posted this. I ordered the Universal gym bag a few days ago. It cost me USD 46 including shipping and taxes. When it arrived here, I was informed by UPS that I will have to pay an additional $46 as import fees or something!!!!
Now I'm loyal to Universal/Animal but I did not intend to spend $100 on a gym bag.

Its the customs charges... they need to declare a low value on the gear. I used to order off ebay a lot and if the declared value is under $20, you won't have to pay anything when you receive it. Talk to U and Animal reps about this.

Yup, I should have been aware of that before I placed the order. I don't think URep / AReps can do anything to change Canadian Custom laws.
