I have knee pain in the top part of my knee where the muscle connects. I didn't hurt it lifting, I think I did it playing basketball. It doesn't hurt when I lift but when I'm done, mainly when sitting down and getting up. Does anyone know what this is or how to correct the pain. Do I still workout legs or not. Can I run if it doesn't hurt when I run.

I wouldn't run on them even if they didn't hurt, it will just irritate it more. Same for working out the legs.

Without seeing you or films, over 65% of knee pain comes from tight hamstrings...please work on streching. The patellar tendon connects the kneecap (the patella) to the shin bone.

Main cause from overuse....

Please stretch the quadriceps, hamstring, and calf muscles...

excellent advice Ant. I'm a firm believer in stretching post workout.
