would you guys say that my strength in the morning workouts depends on the amount of sleep i get? example..i benched 185 8 times last time i did chest..and then yesterday i went to do chest and i could only do it 6...would you say this is from not enough sleep since i workout in the morning? what else could affect this?

glycogen stores, amount of sleep, overall energy levels, focus, and theres probly a million other factors that determine your performance level. THe past few times i worked out in the morning on little sleep i wasa just as strong as ever.

i did chest this morning after having only a protein shake and an apple-i got around 71/2-8 hours sleep and i felt good
i also ate pizza yesterday and the extra carbs the day before a workout always help

no, it's not in your head, it's real... we do have good days and bad days... and one of the most important thing is rest and eating big (especially the day before if we're talkin about the morning workout)... lots of carbs are needed for strength, protein by itself won't cut it

simpleguy says its not in your head. its a good or bad day. well when your at work sometimes its a good day or bad day. your moods change. its a mental thing. one day you can be pumped and put up some serious weight and if the next day your dragging ass and dont want to be there you wont lifft as much

and i must disagree with you saying he needs lots of carbs for energy. i would say before bed he needs protein and fat. and fat is a more abundant source of energy than carbs

i eat alot, i was just wondering if that had to do with not alot of sleep. and i also change my chest workout around..example

week 1
Flat
Incline
Cable Flys
Hammer strength
incline lys

Week 2
Incline
flat
hammer
cable flys
incline fys

week 3
incline
flat
dips
incline DB flys
Flat DB flys

....so do you think doing incline 2 weeks in a row could of had an affect? i dont care that i couldnt get an extra 2 reps..the way i look at things is...the next day if i am sore...then i had a great workout, if i aint sore..shit workout lol.

hey bro I'm not saying that, ask the best powerlifters for example how can you increase your bench? one of the first things they'll tell you is you need loads of food (yes, competitive bodybuilders have oatmeal with their protein and fats before sleep) and a lot of rest... at least that's what works best for me

some peoples bodies run better on more fats
some peoples bodies run better on more carbs
having a good workout has to do w/ so many things ie stress enough rest proper volume
its def not in your head like it was said before-its very real
so have your carbs in the evening if u want, or your fats whatever
well thats my spcheel
