on typical exercise or one of real staples in your workout how many sets people tend to do of it? just wondering if people feel there is a certain amount of sets to use for it to get full use of the movement
For the main exercises I usually do 4 or 5 sets.
Sometimes at the end of my workout, I'll do some more minor concentration exercises for 2 or 3 sets, depending on how exhausted I am.

4 to 5 works good for me.
Same here; bread and butter exercises are about 4-5 sets.
4-5 seems to be the going number I guess... I do fall within that range.
Just about everything I do is 4 sets per exercise. For calves and traps I'm only doin one exercise so I do 5, and sometimes for lesser exercises/smaller muscles I'll drop to 3 or even 2 (2 sets is rare for me though)
Typically it's 5 working sets on main exercises,3 warm-up sets. 3-4 sets on supplemental.
Tonight was legs. I did 3 warm-up sets for squats, 5 working sets for both front and back squats. Finished with calves.

i like around 3
usually a warmup set or 2, then 2-3 working sets
i either work up to a max and the sets really arent determined before hand, or i use 3-4 sets like the program im on says, but generally choose 4

theres so much more to it than simply how many sets you are doing. the muscle group(s) you are working that day, your goals, your workout plan (power, endurance, strength, volume, tone, ect), how many exercises your doing that day, as well as your calorie intake of that day, the next day, the previous, as well as off days or how many days you have been training. all of these factors contribute to how many sets you do, of which exercises, and when. just a thought
