My brothers, how are we all today? Lifting and eating big I hope!
Give me some tips please, I did a powerclean / deadlift work out about two weeks ago,
my lower back is still hurting like fuck.
I was hoping it was just muscular, but I'm not sure. Yeah, I can walk, and still work out just fine, run whatever. But it just feels really really sore and painful.
what hurts more though is standing very straight(like the upper position of a deadlift)
Any words?

first of all, stop training whatever puts pressure on your back, because you don't wanna be out of the gym for a year... second, get yourself some animal flex, it helped me a lot with an injured finger in the past, I think it'll definitely help you too... if the pain doesn't go away, maybe you should see a doc... and next time you do deads wear a belt, it's not for pussies, it's just a safety tool

yeah defiantley dont do anything that requires the stress on your back, im havin surgery soon on my shoulder cause i didnt listen to my body. and im gonna be out for about 3 months and its a small surgery nothing big. Id recommend a doc in about a week if it stil hurts better to get it figured out soon.
and is flex reallyt worth the money, cause i cant work cause of my soulder so i cant be throwin money around for something that isnt worth it, not that i doubt universal products just wondering

Flex is more for joints, sounds like you have a strain, but the only person that will know for sure is your doc. Dont fuck with your back bro, go see the doc...

from what I feel right now, my back is getting better, was worse.
I'm gonna give it a week, rest alot, and try to get some flex.
If in about a week or two nothing seems better, off to the doc(which is the question, I dont have one) and actually, what blows is that I have a desk job, that sitting position fucks with me.....not only on my back but mentally...I hate that, I want to get up and do something physical, I dont like sitting around.
any foods that can help? thanks, I appreciate it bros!

Fish, fish oil, dairy.....slap some ice on there...frozen bad of peas, or take a towel, wet it where it will touch your back, fill with ice, find a comfy spot to lay down and ice till numb. You can try some heat aw well..heating pad works good......try stretching your hammies, that does wonders for my lower back....

Sounds like some really good solid stuff, am definately gonna try it a bit before I head to the gym tonight, and afterwards. Most definately will(shit and thanks for reminding me of the fish oil....they've been sitting there in the freezer, lonely...)

much appreciated my brothers!

there's no kind of special food that helps with that, but the good fats (natural peanut butter, flaxseed/fish/olive oil, peanuts, almonds) play an important role repairing your joints... that been said, if you got a serious injury, no food will make your back ok

first off, was correct form used in both the clean and deadlft? did you round your back when coming off the floor with the dead, were you too erect when you caught the clean instead of starting the squat portion of the lift? also have you been stretching the lower back to help heal and upped your protein consumption since the injury?
Ice it only if there is still inflamation, if not use heat to increase/improve circulation. Go see a doctor. It is worth it in the long run. There is a small chance something serious has happened like a herniated disc, or even a small fracture. You may also have torn a nerve. There are so many things that could have happened in that are, just go see a doc.

Actually I think you hit the hammer on the nail, I was too erect come to think of it,
and barely did the squat portion of the lift....damn.

i suggest you ice it
for like 15 minutes
or use some icy hot
and then wrap it
everyday for a few days
if it doesnt get any better
go to your doctor
i've been there i know it is a biatch!

i would stay away from cleans/deads until your back is 100%, those two movements espically the cleans put a lot of stress on it. be smart about your training and stay positive, it will make the time off from those two lifts fly by

And I am sure that we are all assuming that you have a fairly "progressive" doc that is going to look at all aspects of this: prevention, short term solutions, long term solutions, and appropriate levels of pain managment. Take it FWIW, but if the main or only primary focus is muscle relaxers, run (or limp) :-) away.
Consider a sports therapist and/or chiropractor. They are working more and more together these days ... well, at least the good ones. A good chiropractor will use use and electro-stimulation which I found useful ... again YMMV.
I used to have chronic lower back problems until I got serious about working out. Maybe cooincidence ... probably not.
Good luck

SickBeast, are you insane? Fight through that s**t! Vince Lombardi would be VERY disappointed!
(Then again, Lombardi is dead, so he's probably not the best person from whom to take advice.)
Listen to your brothers: take some time to heal properly. I should do the same for my shoulder, but I haven't because I'm a maniac.

I hope you feel better man. I'm sure you're going to pay way more attention to your form than ever before now that you've injured yourself. Another tip, besides wearing a belt, keep your core tight during any left (especially full body exercises like deads and cleans) by engaging your abdominals (your transverse in particular, this is what keeps your belly flat) and your pelvic floor(the muscles stretched across the bottom opening of your pelvis). Not too many guys pay attention to the pelvic floor but if you wanna keep constant, firm pressure within your core you need things tight from all sides, even your bottom. A good analogy is a flimsy tube filled with rice(tube is your core, rice is your organs)... If there's a way for the rice to get out or bulge the tube will be floppy(you could hit somebody with your tube and it won't hurt). If all ends are sealed and that rice is kept packed then that tube will be pretty damn stiff and maximum power can be transferred (that tube will fuckin hurt). I probably went overboard with the explanation but I like sharing information I find useful. Good luck bro.
Stop doing back stuff... try icing... and see a doc. I'm perty sure that'd be the best approach... Get healthy, bro.

Actually funny thing is, I stretched (the hammie stretch suggested) been doing it a bit, and just resting, slept much better last night and I actually feel a whole loads better.
Isnt really much pain. It was yesturday to where when I would stand I couldnt fully straighten till I started walking. Now on the other hand, I'm just standing normally.
Actually, I understand perfectly what you mean about tightening the core, I'm a martial artist and that is a huge concept that we use for strikes, the power that comes out is insane. I guess my head just wasnt in the right place....I DEFINATELY will be paying a hell of alot more attention to my form.
Thanks alot Brothers!
I tell ya, new to this forum, but I love it.
