Ok the other day i was doing deadlifts, then went over to do pulldowns. As i was doing pulldowns i started to get a sharp pain in the side of my head. Then yesterday i started to do shoulders and had the same feeling. so i stopped and went home to rest i thought i might of strained something. Has anyone else experienced anything like that.????

Never experienced something like this, but imo it sounds serious.. nobody here is a doctor so I think you should go consult one.. this is a long road to roll on, don't crash this early.. I think you did the good thing by stopping.. I really hope it's nothing but a peanut. Take care bro.

Hey bro, I've been there and it sucks. I use to begin a w/o and after doing only a few sets my head would be pounding. I tried to ignore it, but many times ended up leaving the middle or beginning of a w/o b/c of the pain. I went to the doc after about 2 weeks of that. I was told they were a combination of tension headaches and high blood pressure. The doc said it wasn't the actual strain of me working out, but that it was my body not relaxing once I was done, and that was due to stress in other area's of my life. And I normally dont have high blood pressure, but at the time I was on a cut and taking a dieretic (sp), which was the cause of the high blood pressure. So I don't know if any of this is going on with you, but if it continues take the advice already given and get in to see a doc.

you might be holding your breath too long during your sets. I've had similar pains but I also see little white lights after I rack the weight.

This is really common and happens to me when I go really heavy. I almost "forget" to breath and when I finish my set I feel like shit and have a killer headache. Make sure youre breathing during each rep.

hey,
i posted the same question about 3 weeks ago. My pains have gone now. All i did was take a few days off and then my next workouts were light weight and i focused on breathing properly, not grinding my teeth and using perfect form, and i have had no trouble since.
Make sure your getting enough sleep too, it helps big time!!!!!

Exertion headache is what this is most commonly classified as.

The same exact thing happened to me very recently. I put off the doctor for a couple weeks and took it easy. It killed me to not be able to rock the iron like I wanted so I finally made a doctors appointment. The doctor told me I just strained something in my neck from not breathing correctly and if it had been anything worse... I wouldn't be in the doctors office a whole three weeks later. The best he could do for me was give me a prescription for muscle relaxers and told me to take asprin and take it easy for a while. So I did.

6 weeks later, I'm back in the game and back to normal sets. If there's one thing I learned from this is to be more concious about my breathing and water intake. Exerting your self at such a level can put huge strains on your body. If you want to lift big you have have to lift smart. BREATHE FFS! You DON'T want this to happen to you again...EVER! It sucks, and it sidelines you!

This is something that is pretty common in our world. You'll be ok. Listen to your body, if it's telling you it needs to stop, stop. Take a break, your body will thank you. And you'll be a bigger better lifter in the long run.

Been there, too. It's horrible... breathing is kinda required and we seem to due as you say Fury... forget about it.

Go see a doc. If it's a pain in your head and it keeps recurring, take care of it.

yeah i have headaches alot on leg days idk if its undue stress because im juggling 8 hours of school and 8 hours of work a day and havin some trouble with the ol lady and im assuming that its taking its toll on my body and raising my blood pressure is what the doc told me so yeah the extra exertion is really a bad combo to mix with everything else so bring the pain i only want it more

Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback fellas. um i went to the doc yesterday and he said the same thing. sounds like i strained something from my neck which is running up in my head causing pain. My blood pressure was fine so that was a good thing. You know its funny i have been doing this for years now and this would be the first time i had to sit out a couple of days from training and i cant lie its killing me. But again thanks, its nice to know others have had the same issues ....thanks

i didnt read the other comments to see if someone already said this but i get those crazy headaches whenever i dont breathe properly during an excercise, or you can also get then from taking in to much NO before your workout, or at least thats what happened to me
