August 9th I'll be competing in my 2nd contest ever, the INBF Washington State Natural Bodybuilding and Figure. I placed 4th last year in the Novice class, and this year I will be competing in both the Novice and Masters classes. Until my sponsored run with Animal Test and EAA Stak ends,(The watermelon flavor kicks a$$) I will be posting on my log for that. Afterwards, I will be switching over to this log, for the rest of my Journey. Later, All!!!

Hey fellow Washingtonian,
wonderful how close we all are in the bodybuilding community. I choreograph bb'ing routines for a few of the women in the INFB.
Great show, good promoters, great federation.

Main thing to pay attention to, when you're getting closer to a show, is posing and conditioning. It was one thing the judges told me they were looking at, closely.

I'll start my cutting phase around mid-april or the start of may. Depends on how much bodyfat I'm carrying. Last year I started in April, and went from 220 down to 180, by showtime. But I lost a LOT of size, so I'm trying to get it so I don't have to drop so much.
Oh joy... Only a few more months before I have to put my food in a safe... *L*

What supplements are you allowed take for a natural show? I only use Animal products. I didn't know if any of them are not allowed.

Every federation has their own list of banned substances...Every animal product is allowed by every federation that ive checked so far...If you dont know for sure tho you can always email the federation with the supplement so they can check for you

Exactly! And, they actually appreciate the fact, that you are willing to ask instead of taking whatever you think is okay. A few people from my previous contest got nailed that way.

It's been crazy and busy. I'm in Kansas right now for my Dad's 60th B-Day. Then I fly back to Washington on Sunday. Dad hooked me up with passes to his gym, while I'm here, so I don't miss any workouts. After I get back, though, I really have to start kicking it into overdrive, and make full use of my growth time, before I start cutting. How's it with you?

Last night had to be one of my most unusual workouts to date. I was doing my workout at home last night, due to inclement weather, and the power went out. Now, there's not much I can do about not having lights and heat, and I was just beginning workout. So, I decided to just keep on going. If anything, it was going to keep my warm. *L*
Legs:
Squats:
2 sets of 25 at 150
2 sets of 50 at 200
Leg extensions:
3 sets of 50 at 100
Single leg calf raises:
3 sets of 60 bodyweight with 50 lb DB
Lunges:
1 set of 100 with 25 lb DB's
Not a lot of weight, but the reps gave me a killer burn and pump.

Good to see your back at Mr. Dead. That was a damn fine returning session. Doing the Decline Bench caught my eye, do you do this as a first movement very often?
Mr. Dead
03-14-08, 11:40 am
Actually, I mostly do it first. My lower and inner pecs are my weakest points, as far as my physique goes. The outer and upper are doing well enough (They overshadow the rest of my chest)

03-17-08, 11:19 am
Well, Friday, I got a new car (Toyota Yaris 2008). Saturday, We got an 8 week old Rottweiler puppy. Sunday, we got a 7 1/2 week old Black Lab. Both are boys, and have kept me up most of the weekend. (Got 4 hours of sleep Saturday and Sunday night, combined) Hit legs, briefly, when the wife came in, and said we had a 4 hour drive to go get the Rottweiler. Tonight will be legs, and hopefully sleep.

Yep, it will be Round 2, for me at that particular show. The Test and EAA Stak brought out some awesome results. Great size and hardening. I'm doing the EAA with some M-Stak, currently. But, more importantly, right now. How did YOUR show go?

Thanks! It's going well. I'm slowly easing into it, but by May, I'll have drastically cut the amount of carbs, and will have jacked up the protein. I'm also slowly adding more cardio. Last year, I did everything to quick and wound up losing a LOT of size.

Well, yesterday when I got off work, I started to go towards I-5 and heads towards the gym. The weather was gloomy with a rain snow mix, but nothing exciting. Then, I get a call from my wife, stating that I should curtail my gym activities and head home. I'm like "Uhm, no... I'm going to the gym". She then informs me that it has snowed 2 inches in a very short amount of time, and does not want me taking chances on the road with my new car. So, I told her that the weather where I was at wasn't anywhere near that. Finally I relent to her wishes, and turn back for the 1 1/2 hour drive home. Then it hits... It was snowing so hard, and the flakes were so huge, that it looked like there had been a huge pillow fight. It looked like feathers were falling everywhere. (And, the new pups had never seen snow, so I was kind of looking forward to their reaction) So, after getting home, and playing with the pups in the snow I wound up just doing 3 sets of 30 crunches with puppy supervision.
Sorry to hear that Mr. Dead, Mother Nature can be cruel sometimes. How did the pups like the snow?

Okay, now normally on a freakin' Monday, I can go in and have my pick of anything leg related. Not last night!!! The damned place was swarming with people. Everything was being used. (Turns out they were having a $9 promo for unlimited personal training for 2 weeks) So, I bided my time, and managed to get my pump on.
Leg extensions:
5 sets of 20 at 110
Leg press:
1 set of 30 at 200
3 sets of 20 at 450
Leg extensions:
1 set of 20 at 110

Lying leg curls:
1 set of 20 at 60
1 set of 15 at 70
1 set of 10 at 80
1 set of 6 at 95
Standing calf machine:
1 set of 30 at 205
4 sets of 15 at 395 (Stack)
1 set of 100 at 175 (Had a hell of a burn, and was light headed afterwards, so... I decided that was good)
Definitely been enjoying the M-Stak and the EAA Stak, but I miss the new beta-flavor of Torrent afterwards. I'm like a crack-head lookin' for a fix!!! Had the cerry Torrent afterwards, and some General Tso's chicken and rice.

I got mine last Saturday too. I'm doing the same thing, reading and getting motivated. You and I are definitely gonna be holding our pro cards soon.
Cant wait to see the results from all this motivation. I think Scal's prediction is correct. I see pro cards in the near future for 2 Animals!

It was a busy weekend! Friday, I hit back and chest. Saturday, we took the pups to the Vet for thier 12 week shots, and to micro-chip the lab. I felt sorry for the little guy. They took a needle almost as thick as my forarm veins, and rammed it between his shoulder blades. I was at ground zero for that. He yelped, and I almost yelped for him. But, he was a real trooper, and was up and at 'em. We then took them to the park, and afterwards I got in 45 min on th treadmill, and hit abs. That evening, I refurbished the grill, and made some steak (eye round, of course) and chicken breasts.
Sunday was a horse of a different color... We had breakfast with the in-laws, at a casino. Thankfully, I was able to load up on egg-whites and eat healthy. Then I hit the gym for legs. After that, was 3 hours of mowing lawn with a push mower. We have an acre that is on a 45 degree hill. I have a push mower. I've done legs, and it was the first mow of the year...
Later that evening, I was going to take the Lab to "do his business". I opened the baby gate, and was in the process of stpping through, when the Rottweiler slammed into the gate nailing me in the "family heirlooms". As this was happening, the lab was pulling for all he was worth, and I "flipped" over the gate, slammed my wrist and head on the railing, and went ass over tea-kettle down a flight of stairs. I wan't amused. After lying on the linoleum, nursing my bruised ego and "heirlooms". I got up, and drug myself outside to complete the Lab's mission of "doing business". Man, I hope this week goes better... *L*

Ever have a 24 hour period, where you know your butt should've just stayed in bed...? Well, the past 24 have been just that. Got off work a half hour late, due to trying to get staffing issues figured out for the next day, with half the people gone. Puupies tore up the house with mess after mess. Nearly got sideswiped 3 times on the way to the gym. Forgot my EAA Stak. Gym was crowded with the "tennis" people. (Ballys is big on tennis, and the "players" think they own and run everything including the weight room) So, I muddled through my workout... Was stuck slamming down a quart of chocoalte milk for my PWO drink, along with a 32 oz. Gatorade. Went to bed, only to wake up every hour to go to the bathroom. Got up and got ready for work, and as I get ready to leave I get an incredible whiff of "doggy-doo". Go back up, clean up the Rottweiler's crate, give him a bath, and show up late to work, and then get no lunch break... But, last night's session went as follows:
Chest:
Decline Bench:
20 reps at 90
2 sets of 8 reps at 230
Flat Bench:
30 reps at 90
25 reps at 105
20 reps at 120
15 reps at 135
10 reps at 150
8 reps at 165
And, back down with the weights and reps
Cable crossovers:
20 reps at 40
15 reps at 50
10 reps at 60
8 reps at 80
BACK:
Wide grip pulldowns to the front:
1 set of 20 at 105
1 set of 15 at 120
1 set of 10 at 135
1 set of 8 at 135
Close grip pulldowns:

Thanks!!! Yeah... Getting a drink of water is even a joy. They crowd around the fountain, and just talk, and when they actually do hit the weights, it's more like they're just sitting at the bar chit-chatting and not moving a damned weight. I also got to meet Rage, Oregon Grown Bam Bam, Babygirl, Goldielocks, DarkIndigo, and many others, here at the Forvm... Then we went to the ABC at Iron Works Gym, and Oregon grown Bam Bam put us through an awesome posing seminar!!! Then dd2inxs (my better half) and I hit delts and tri's. Numbers weren't my norm, but it was all good. Dinner was at the Outback Steakhouse, I had the tillapia with asparagus and washed it down with Coke Zero.
Sunday was kind of an interesting day, since we woke up with 3 inches of snow (Washington record for the latest it's snowed, BTW). Went to IHOP where I had a steak and 6 eggs. Went and got the groceries had pics developed (some are in the gallery section here).

It was a great weekend... Injuries actually made the high volume approach necessary. Both hands have had extensive damage, so my grip gives out before the working muscles. But, "Arnold" was always an inspiration and he had a high to moderate volume philosophy. But, early on, it was a matter of "How much weight can I lift?".

Before I post my workout, I have to tell ya... I got home, and it was like Christmas at our house. My 4 gallons of egg whites arrived, my Animal Omega arrived, and dd2inxs' Universal Women's Multi-Pack arrived. We've definitely got an Animal/Universal houshold!!!
Enjoy!!! Is this the first time dd2inxs used the Universal Women's Multi-Pack? Just wondering if she has used it before and what her thoughts on it were.

She's taken it for about a month, and her thoughts are... "It's a vitamin, but a bit better than most that I've taken".

Thanks for answering my question.

Ah the classic uppler body pump session. Great work and great volume Mr Dead. Your right about being careful while cutting back on carbs, but your body will let you know when its tired. Until then pedal to the metal bro!

The diet and supp change up looks good Mr. Dead. Have you ever done your asparagus on the BBQ?

Thanks!!! *L* I've done asparagus many ways... It's actually my favorite vegetable... Sauteed, grilled, with hollandaise sauce, with mushrooms... Damn, now I'm hungry!!! *L*

Well, judging by the way my scrub top is fitting, today... I may be moving from an XXL to an XXXL... Very tight in the shoulders... So, it's coming along great!!! *L*

Things are going well. Easing into my cut, I know I said I was on an indefinate bulk a while back. That was when I was going to go study abroad this summer. That is not happening now and luckily I will have 8 weeks before my fam goes to the beach. Enough to get some pretty solid results from Keto so I'm going to start next Monday. We will see how this goes.
