View Full Version : Creatine Cycle?
In the last couple years more and more articles have been released on creatine use, that haven't involved the classic creatine cycle.
So who heres cycles creatine use or just takes it the same amount consistently?
It's not a steroid.
No need to cycle it.
I don't cycle my water consumption either.

If you constantly take creatine without cycling it, your body could become dependent on artificial creatine which could affect its production of natural creatine. Thats why you should cycle it 12 weeks on, then 4 weeks off so your body has time to re-adjust.
I've heard this, but never seen it substantiated.
Got any peer-reviewed evidence to back that statement up?
Your body is constantly producing Creatine but its not really enough to keep the muscle pumped for a long period of time. I have read a few articles where it tells you to cycle as if to get your body to jumpstart the process but I havent seen it put into play either. I take the same amount all the time and get better and better results as I continue my persuit to lift but cycling it doesnt really sound to be legit. Like "Built" said.. its not a steroid.. so I dont know why you would have to stop taking it..
Im not cycling my creatine, but I'm about out and wanted to try somthing new, I was taking cellmass. Any suguestions?
Yo, quick story. I just finished up my time in the navy and was home lifting with an old friend. He asked me what I took, I told him and he was like "Isn't creatine a steriod" I told him no, then had to explain to him what it did. Then he said "so thats a steriod". I was like, this fuckin idiot is hopeless. But guess what, that fuckin idiot takes creatine now.
Fish and beef contain creatine. I'll say this--I don't "cycle" those.

Can we get a few more opinions in here?
Because I am trying to figure out whether I wanna cycle it out or not.

I go on the safe side and cycle it. I dont know if it is really essential but I dont want my body to stop creating its own creatine.

a quick search on google will produce several sites that reference creatine and only a few studies recommend cycling it. if you investigate further you will note that the reason for cycling is based on the fact that you are ingesting something in addition to what is concidered 'normal'. that being said, no studies, that i could find, found benefits to cycling creatine. though results will vary, there are no known adverse effects of taking creatine.
freak hit the nail on the head though: beer and fish

At work (a hospital), we have access to studies and abstracts on every drug. ("more" common ones anyway) Anyway, there is always a section of contraindications & precautions--such as "long term use is associated with this & that", and there is NO such statements about creatine, the only one is not to take it with diuretics and caffeine b/c it dries up the water that creatine needs to work effectively. But nothing about stopping your natural production of creatine phosphate.
