View Full Version : Low Carb Question
Sup fellas,
Gotta quick question for you guys. I'm currently cutting trying to shed bodyfat, I'm 190, bout 14% bf and I've been doing low carb for about 2 weeks now. The only meals with carbs are my first two, I have an apple and a cup of oats at breakfast, and 2 hours later I have the carbs from two scoops of Real Gains. After that, just protein and healthy fats (olive oil, almonds, natty pb). I lift around 1 or 2 oclock, and my last carb meal is around 1130. Would it be better to have carbs only pre and PWO, or should I keep it as it is, just having carbs in my first two meals and that's it. I'm not going keto b/c I just don't believe in the no carb method, if it works for you, great, but I'm sticking to low carb. Any help would be great. Couldn't find anythin on the search function so if you find a link, any help would be sick, thanks boys. Peace.

alright bro... why are you drinking real gains if you are trying to shed bf??are you trying to gain weight or lose weight you can't shed bf and gain weight? and it is hard to lose bf and maintain muscle mass and strength i know its a bummer but from what i have experienced that's just how things work. i cardio will probably be you're answer just to lose bf. just up the cardio and intensity of you're lifts but yo uwill probably lose a bit of muscle. at 190 lbs I would bulk up as much as possible then do a nice long cut and get lean.. just my opinion do what works for you bro!

you have to keep your metabolism guessing, and if youre doing the same thing day in day out, the guessing game becomes quite simple for your body to quickly adapt...
you should try having your carb meals at different times of the day on some other days, change your carbs up from oats to sweet potatoes every so often and then the amount of carbs you get in should change too...
lots of low carbs days in a row will get you nowhere fast, youll see yourself shedding too much weight and in the form of muscle tissue...
good luck with it bro
thanks guys, and the reason i'm using real gains is not b/c of the fact that it is a weight gainer. I have class right in between the 2-3 period after my first meal, so I need to get my cals in some way right? That's the only thing that I can use as a meal b/c of schedule right now, otherwise, ure right, i wuldnt use it as my first choice. Thanks for the input guys, I think ure totally right on switching shit up, peace

You could avoid all the extra calories etc by just using a whey protein shake there instead of real gains. Maybe throw in a cup of oats and some natty pb as a way to switch up when you get the carbs.

I know of a few guys who do several low carb days, then a normal carb day (occasionally 2), then several low carb days, etc. to keep the body guessing, so that with each drop in carbs from the normal days, you lose bodyfat, while the normal carb days keep you full and from losing too much mass. This worked for a buddy of mine, depends on how you handle carbs and such.

Another good call Dozer. I think you are right, switching it up as far as when I eat my low carbs, and how often I go low carb, i'm gonna keep this up for a while n see how it goes, thanks, peace

Unless your carb sensitive, then eating carbs could mess with the weight loss. I like to do 3-4 days very low carbs, only getting carbs from green veggies, then for one day I will "carb up". On this day I will add oats, and two large sweet potatos, then I will go back to the very low carbs. This approach cuppled with verying the length and intensity of my cardio seems to work wonders for me. For instance I wake up do at least 15 mins of cardio first thing in the morning. Some days I do 20, other days I just go fast enough to get a little sweat going. On other days I will do 15 mins light not hard at all followed by 30 mins latter that night on the eliptical. Just got to find what works for you good luck!

Thanks for the support, my plan right now is as follows. My lifting schedule is 3 days on, one day off, repeat. So I figure I'll go low carb for three days, then 'carb up' on my off day, nothing insane or anything, but just enough to fill up my muscles and keep my metabolism on edge. Peace.
