I looked these up as a possible add on to my isolate shakes during the day, just to mix things up, natty pb is getting old, and adding any kind of oil makes me feel like chucking. Anyways, I checked out the nutrition facts, and 2 tbsp of contains 8g fat, 7g carbs, and 5g fiber, no sugar. I'm on the fence about it, what do you guys think? I'd like to grind them up, about 3tbsp for 14g fat, and add them to my shakes, but I'm not sure about the carb content.
id try it at least once to figure if it tastes good, grinds up properly etc, depends when you have the shakes as well!

I've been told they mix and taste well enough, I'm more concerned about the carbohydrate content of the seeds.
alright well thats a good start, why are you worried about the carbs so much? how many grams of carbs are you getting without adding the Flax seeds? and what is your goal? after a workout Carbs will be assimilated nicely...

The only carbs I eat during the day are contained in eggs, a few chunks of broccoli, and I usually have a romaine lettuce salad with a meal, plus my whey powder has 2.5 per scoop, and i have 4 scoops throughout the day, so I wouldnt think that I have that many during the course of a day. The only time during the day I have shakes are one pre and one post workout.

This post has got me curious. I am getting ready to start a cut and I was wondering the best protein to use during that phase. Thanks for the help fellas
jeez, your low carbing it extreme man!! nah those extra carbs will serve you well. what most people see as a low carb day would be 50 grams day!! and a high day would be 200-300grams considering certain factors. I say give it a try and see how you feel im sure you will have more energy as a result!
and read your thread now Escholar5 inspirational my man, best of luck.

well, Isolate proteins are always good, depends how you tolerate Carbohydrates ( isolates tend not to have high carb content ) and if you want those proteins with Creatine and all the bits and pieces combined. personally i find a simple low carb protein is best and use some milk with it, but water would serve the purpose better for a cut.

Thanks D-bomb, I think I'll be tryin them out, its just always nice to have that second opinion. I knew my carbs were on the low end of the spectrum, but to be honest I've never had more energy than I do now. I had to change my workouts to lower reps, since the 6-8 range is anaerobic and dosen't depend on glycogen, but with that change, my energy levels are completely unaffected. So we'll see how things go. Thanks for adding in your $.02.
No problem, always dropping in to help. hope it works for ya! nice middle range weights will get you far :)
You could also throw in some almonds or walnuts if your getting tired of natty pb and oil...I dont use much flaxseed because the human body has a hard time converting it to DHA/EPA...

I've heard that if you're grinding up the seeds yourself there are hardly any digestible carbs, but if your package says 5 of 7 are fiber, trust the bag. Have you tried virgin coconut oil? If you like coconut, it helps the shake go down a little easier. Make sure its virgin tho, or else it'll have the natural flavours removed.

somethin about putting oil in my shakes ties my stomach in knots, especially post workout. taste has never really been an issue.

switch to a low carb diet or carb cycle diet

because I dont like putting oil in my shakes? that seems a little drastic, I manage to stay quite ketogenic as it is right now without putting oil in my shakes, and I can't imagine that one net carb from ground up flax seeds will knock me out of ketosis.

your right, the few carbs in the flax have about as much chance as knocking you out of ketosis as peanut butter does...

I'm sorry, but natural peanut butter getting old? Man, if I get to that point I would have to quit considering how much I eat...

i dont know how it can get old while on ketosis, everytime you eat peanut butter it feels like cheating
I can believe it get's old, peanut butter on bread is amazing, peanut butter on a knife gets frigging old, in a shake of course its fine, u hardly taste it.
