Last night I was flipping through the channels from the comfort of my big ass couch, with diet food in hand, legs up on the couch when I flipped on "Extreme Makeover Home Edition"...

I never watch this show - but if you get a chance watch the episode that aired last night - May 11th... the family is the Giunta's... 3 kids, the day the 3rd was born the husband Paul was in a wicked car accident and became crippled and mentally disabled. It was fucking heartbreaking...

I was in tears watching this guy talk about how all he wants to do is live with his family - he has to live with his parents because the house they lived in as a family isn't big enough for his wheel chair and he fell down too many times in the house and his life was at risk. I couldn't help but lose it when they showed footage of him trying to walk during physical therapy...

This guy constantly tries to train to get his mobility back - it's just a really amazing story...

If you get a chance please check it out - I found it impossible not to cry when I watched this - I can't imagine going through that - and I can't imagine how hard it is on the wife, but you can tell, she loves him so much...

Check it fellas...

I know what u mean I watched that exact episode. yeah it was hard to choke back the tears. It sucks how life can bring you joy in one minute like the birth of your daughter then hand you the death card that same day. But i was glad to see that he is walking again and working and dedicated to get back to a normal life as much as possible. But they did help him out buy giving him that kick ass home gym. Yeah after i saw that episode I hug'd my girls a lil tighter when I put them to bed.

It's stories like that Chandler that puts life in perspective. It makes you appreciate how lucky we really are even if we aren't as big and as ripped as we would like to be, thats nothing compared to the ability to live a normal life.

I have not seen that particular episode but I have watched a few episodes in the past and they are always helping someone with similar issues in life as that family. Its a kindness that doesnt seem to exist anymore these days and that show brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it.

Agreed. When we fall victim to injuries -I'm sure none of which are as serious as the man on Extreme Home Makeover- we tend to feel bad for ourselves. There are greater tragedies out there than not being able to train for several days.

I just thank God that I'm of good genetics with no serious illnesses or ailments.

I've got a wrist that hasn't healed in ages (seems permanent) and gives me hell while I lift, but this is extreme! I can just respect this dude for giving the iron his best shot. I mean, the guy's got one leg but he's still at it! Amazing!

Goes to show if you have the Iron will to succeed, nothing can stop you.

I was in the locker room today fixin up some pwo protien. This guy was telling me he was glad it was over. I said that I was looking forward to tomorow to get another day in. He then told me that he was on Chemo therapy and was fighting cancer for a 2nd time. I have had several family members and a friend who have under gone Chemo and I can tell that stuff is no joke. I have seen very strong people get trashed by this stuff to the point they could bearely function. And this guy was in the gym and concerend he was loosing wieght. That there is dedication.

Amazing. thanks for posting.

I have a guy , big as an ox, who works out at my gym with only one leg, the other is gone at the hip. But he didn't let it stop him or even slow his speed... helluva a life inspiration

I know this thread is filled with people sidelined due to mobility issues and accidents, but here is a change of pace on it. Check out this vid, sometimes we take for granted that we have all the greatest tools in are arsenal to achieve the look we want, as far as food and training equipment; look at the gym these guys have. Talk about working with what you got.
