I asked myself,"Do you want to be known for being big,or do you want to be known for being strong" and i voice in my head answered,both,and i thought to myself,how can i achieve that,and it clicked in my head,why do you think all these guys,all these huge dudes who powerlift,how are they so big,and i realized,i want to powerlift again,so tomorrow i will start,start a road to being stronger,and bigger
Sgt Rock has a routine for it goes like this
Monday
DL
Tuesday
Bench
Friday
Squat

i wil be doing 3x5 on the core lifts,abd 3 sets of 7-10 reps on the assistance,i dont know how many assistance exercises ill be doing,but i think around 4-5,and as always i will eat big to get bigger as i get stronger

yea i think rock may use a modified russian cycle type it in to google and you should be able to find a SHIT LOAD on powerlifting or hell you could always just ask rock thats what i did

thanks brothers,i had to stall on starting it for awhile,alot of issues outside of the gym getting in the way,but after this week ill be starting the routine sgt rock gave me,im not really looking into a competition yet,i want to get bigger and stronger first then if i have to ill cut to get into a weightclass,i hope you all stay around and follow my journey!

Hey, a big wat up to a fellow Texan (used to be)! As you asked in the PM, I will tell you about myself... I started training somethat when I was 8. Now, I will not go into detail about these years because they were a mess..... I began training seriously when I was 12, going on 13.


I lifted to get better for football. I stumbled into this website when I saw an Animal Ad last year. I was an avid user of Animal Pak, so I checked it out. I have come a long way, but not even close of accomplishing my goals.... When I started, I was 5'6 160lb.
Currently, I stand 6'1 224lb.

I began powerlifting last year and I have a 600lb max deadlift, 585lb squat, and a 388lb bench. I attempted a 400lb, mid Jan. and I broke both wrists, so I'm kinda out of commision with presses..... The dead and squat were suited, so don't think that I'm the next Sam Byrd or Andy Bolton (I wish).

I also hate chest day, as mentioned in a previous post, so I don't see myself benching a half ton anytime soon..... I lived in Pennsylvania, moved to Cali, moved to Dallas, then Arlington, (Yes, I worked out at Metroflex), a brief stay in Minnesota, and I find myself in DC...... That's my journey so far.... I play D line on the football team, a heavyweight wrestler, and a State's qualifying shot putter. That's a little more about me. Sorry, didn't want to put this as a PM.

haha i wish! i dropped out in 10th and did homeschooling and got my diploma through that,thanks bro,many people get kind of weirded out by the fact im engaged,haha i wouldnt tell her that,sounds like something i would do! thanks bro! im about 145 now lol im going up tho! hope you can get them casts off soon bro!

ya eating a lot these days? You should. As mentioned beforel powerlifting FUCKS up your CNS and your body. Make sure you sleep plenty, eat a ton, and take your PAK and FLEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good, solid bench day. Are you going to do some speed benching and board presses? If you want a bigger bench, try some floor presses. They work the upper pecs and triceps and the results are amazing.

thanks brothers,im going to try to get a light bench day in on saturday or sunday,i have to work so it depends,right now im really looking into getting a power rack but im broke so ill have to wait,i lift at home so if i did floor press i would have to improvise somehow,i really want to try it though

Rack pulls are also kickass. they definetely help out with the lockout, especially with bands, yes sir!

Try this... Go out and buy some bricks from Home Depot or and DIY store and some cement. Build a short wall and split a brick into thirds and place a third on both sides of the wall, leaving the middle open. That's where the bar will sit. I learned this from out football captain and he built a rack with bricks and some steel...... don't know how, but it's strong. Try this if you have the time and tell me how it is..... I made one for myself a while age and it worked fine for me.

Once you really start to go heavy, a belt will become your best friend. I know a lot of powerlifters who are raw freaks don't use a belt, but for a beginner, a belt is highly recommended ( by me, at least). Once you start to get bigger and stronger and lift huge weight ( You will, for sure), a power belt will also come in handy. Jsut giving you a heads up......

thanks bro! the belt i have now is a valeo,i got it back when i first started lifting weights when i was doing competitions,it fits me comfortably(as comfotable as a belt can get lol) but ill start using it on the heavy weights,thanks for advice brothers

Another word of advice, start doing heavy core exercises. A powerlifter's best friend is a powerful core.

i do decline sit ups with a 45 for 2 or 3 sets of 10,almost everyday and it has been helping alot with my lifts

im with BS on this, i never used a belt in football... they didnt have big enough ones for most of the OL... i warm up without it and throw mine on around 315 aswell, helps build the core apparently.. i think the most i ever did without a belt was 405x3 no wraps no belt... not fun, i didnt liek how it felt wthout a belt.. but find one that fits you.. im gonna probably buy a new one, competition belt, i dont think the fed im thinkin of competing in lets you hae the lil pad on the back...

youre competiting inthe apf right? the belt i have has the lil pad in it,but id get one just in case because the guy who did my competition was a lil more nice about that kinda thing lol i dont use wraps either,i have a pair of inzer wrist straps but i only use em at competition time,thanks again brothers for helping me out,when i use to powerlift i didnt have anybody to help me through it,glad i got my animal brothers!

im with BS on this, i never used a belt in football... they didnt have big enough ones for most of the OL... i warm up without it and throw mine on around 315 aswell, helps build the core apparently.. i think the most i ever did without a belt was 405x3 no wraps no belt... not fun, i didnt liek how it felt wthout a belt.. but find one that fits you.. im gonna probably buy a new one, competition belt, i dont think the fed im thinkin of competing in lets you hae the lil pad on the back...

I had a hard time myself. First off, did you go to the right website? If not, just type in prowriststraps on Google. Second, when you get there, scroll down to lifting straps. From there, you should be able to work your way around. I had to toy around for about an hour or so to get them. They are sooooo worth it.

okay brothers today is tuesday,off day,going to eat around 4 dont know what yet,then some dinner around 7 and something before bed around 9,usually would have a shake before bed,but runnin low on supps so im trying to save them for after work out only,right now heres the current stuff going on

i know that if i reach my goal bodyweight i will be way stronger then what numbers i want right now,once i reach those goals i will have to buy a new set of weights!!i noticed today while doing abs my whole body has gotten bigger,legs,shoulders,arms,chest,back,everything,a nd its making very VERY HAPPY!!

I saw a strongman comp that took place in Iceland and they were shoulder pressing solid aluminum blocks in a frozen warehouse... definetely a place to hold an ABC event.....

I loved the firetruck pull from last year's WSM.... Huge fan of Kevin Nee, but I gotta say that no one can press heavy weight like Marius.... that dude is a beast... he shoulder presses like 500+ behind the neck, standing.... definetely someone I look upto ...plus, he looks like an absolute beast with a bandana on!!!

Huge fan of Kevin Nee, but I gotta say that no one can press heavy weight like Marius.... that dude is a beast... he shoulder presses like 500+ behind the neck, standing.... definetely someone I look upto ...plus, he looks like an absolute beast with a bandana on!!!

yeah some of these classes arent really hard, its just keeping up with the work is freakin hard... a chapter or 2 a day for each class makes it hard, especially cause i cant study for more than an hr at a time...

i need to find a better job,im way to fatigued when i get home,so i feel tired before i work out and then i get annoyed after i work out because im more fatigued,i really want to work at a gym,or a supplement shop
