This is straight from my log from a few weeks back...hit legs hard Milos giant set style at my gym with a partner...this shit seriously had me sore for a whole WEEK, no lies.

started off with Smith squats, straight into box squats(barbell), front squats, regular squats, and machine leg press

NON-stop...3 rotations, 10 reps each...no matter what, no stopping. I was screaming my ass off LOL. FUcking intense.

After that, we moved on to about 7 different machines...First laying ham curl, then leg extension, then laying ham curl again, leg extension again, seated ham curl....etc etc...One slow one fast. Again 10 reps each, non-stop, 3 rotations

Milos Sarcev Giant Set leg day...fitshow hardcore... I've done it once... Barely got home. I'm not going to spell out the whole thing because it would take too long, but it's 1 rotation of 13 exercises and 2 rotations of 7 exercises. The giant set includes: stiff deads, squats, front squats, barbell lunges, dumbbell lunges (short, med, long variations), leg curls, reverse hypers, leg extensions, hack squats, sissy squats, leg press, calf raises, and others...(this list was out of order and was just an example)...

For those of you who have done giant sets, you know how this can get. I'm not sure I've experienced a more hardcore training method, period.

P.S. ROLAND!!! I see another Sarcev follower!! Good to see you limping like me!!!

The giant set I'm speaking of is the one of the ones that Silvio Samuel and Dennis Wolf used for prep for the 2007 New York Pro...

i like throwing in this once and a while to start off my leg day:

Squats ATG, as soon as you cant do anymore get a buddy to put a low box behind you and box squat till you cant anymore, then remove the box and put a higher box and squat till you cant do anymore. sets x3 or 4.

kills like a mofo, little soreness on the lower back but hell it hurts like a bitch. Unfortunately my school has jack shit for legs, so im limited to squats, lunges, step ups, and a terrible leg press machine. god i wish i had a sled, and extension machine.

MOST intense leg w/o.... hmmmm....
225lbx200, definetely... (NOT all at once)

went like 135x50, 185x20, 225x50x4...... last year. was real bad. puked 13 times that workout... I did not feel good in the leg department for more than a week. I did that to blast a plateau. Plateau busters are what I'm about...

I've done a few crazy workouts, but I figure these are the craziest; each for a different reason though....

Superset of leg extensions and leg presses (no rest):
40X100, then 90X30...immediately do
50X100, then 180X30...immediately do
60X100, then 270X30...immediately do
70X100, then 360X30...immediately do
80X100, then 450X30...immediately do
90X100, then 540X30...immediately do
100X100, then 630X30...immediately do
300X10, dropset to 280X10, dropset to 260X10, dropset to 240X10, dropset to 220X10, dropset to 200X10, dropset to 180X10, dropset to 160X10, dropset to 140X20, dropset to 120X20, dropset to 100X20, then over to presses for:
720X10, dropset to 630X10, dropset to 540X20, dropset to 450X20, dropset to 360X20, dropset to 270X20, dropset to 180X20, dropset to 90X50.

33 sets/1220 reps

Time: 35 minutes

No rest, start to finish; just back and forth, back and forth... That was back in August, G challenged everyone to do the craziest leg workout they could come up with, and that's what I came up with that day...

----------------------------------------------

Leg extensions:
45X3000

1 set/3000 reps

Time: 57 minutes straight

3000 reps without stopping....That shit'll wake the dead...

-----------------------------------------------

And a heavy workout...

Squats:
135X20
225X20
315X20
405X20
495X12
545X5
585X2.... I don't use anything when I train; no belt, nothin'...completely raw...

Leg presses:
180X30
360X30
540X30
720X30
900X30
1080X20
1260X15
1350X12
1440X10

16 sets/306 reps

Time: 50 minutes

My favorite body part to train. Been a long while, and I've been checking on the forvm before my rotation exams - this place motivates the shit out of me.

Thought I'd share this quad workout of mine. Works wonders for me.

Warm up 10 minutes bike.
Squats 140kg x 12
180kg x 10
200kg x 10
210kg x 10 All the sets being normal stance
Unload - 4 sets of 100, 120, 140 to failure, using a wide stance.
Front squats - 4 sets of 10.

Leg presses - 4 sets of 15

Leg extensions - 4 sets of 10, giving a big squeeze on top of each rep, and holding for 2-3 seconds.
Drop the weight, do 4 sets of single leg extensions to failure.

Standing and seated calf raises follow.

AND to finish it up do 15 minutes of cardio.
I do my hams a different day, on their own but sometimes with triceps.

Hope you guys enjoy that w/o.

Peace, nawaaz.

No it took me around 1hr 15mins to complete, I dont like to push my workouts over an hour but with a leg sesh like that I have to. Beleive me after doing that leg session I get DOMs like 2-3 days later in my legs, but I know what it takes to make them grow and I just push through the "pain" if you want to call it that.

Badasses do squats in the middle or end of the workout after leg extensions, leg curls, leg presses and all the other good stuff. I can squat a lot of weight fresh, try doing it when your legs are already fried.

In general- Squats tend to do all I need. If I need more hamstring utilization, I'll work with stiff-leg deadlifts. Quad stimulus comes from extension of the knee, a squat, lunge, leg press or leg extension for example. A hamstring stimulus comes from flexsion at the knee or extension of the hips- Hamstring curls or stiff-leg deadlifts. So I pick three basic movements for the lower body and sick with them- Squats, lunges and stiff-leg deadlifts.

Oh man a few weeks ago me and my buddy did this...the rack i needed was taken so we did extensions, curls, leg presses, bb hacks and then at the end we did front squats and i could barely move 200lbs...i loved it and hated it at the same time lol

What is a pull through?

You go over to the tricep press down machine and throw the rope extension on it. Then you slide it down the the lowest setting. Stand with your back the the machine and grab the rope in between your legs. Walk out a few feet and take a wide stance. Keep a slight bend in your knees, but reach through your legs with your arms (letting the weight go down on the machine). Then in one motion (an explosive hip motion) pull the rope through your legs and stand up straight. It works your glutes and hamstrings pretty well.

If you haven't done this....well good luck.

You will wanna satrt to puck after the lunges and definitly after the back squats and that is only about halfway!

You may have to modify the weight for oneself.......

I have done this like 3 times.....make sure you have a partner or two to keep pushing ya too

I've done 5 sets of squats as heavy as I could go

1x8reps
2x6reps
3x4reps
4x2reps
5x1rep max

Then I jump on the leg extension machine and did the same

And then lunges till I couldn't walk with 70 lb DBs

Then I limped my ass over to the lying leg curls and did the 5 set routine again

Then same on the seated leg curl

Then the 5 set routine for calves, fuck they were on fire!

After than I attempted to ride the bicycle for 10 minutes, got to 4 mins and couldnt feel my legs.

Stretched out still couldnt feel the legs

And then hobbled to my car and finally I could feel again.

lol

Did 6 sets of squats (3 front and 3 back) in 10 minutes, followed by 4 sets of lunges, puked during the last set of squats, I don't think I've ever trained legs that hard ever since. I trained them like that when I came back from taking a week off, It's amazing how much a week of no workouts can make your mind crave for intensity.

Have you guys ever tried rest pause and drop sets for legs???? Prolly not....But I can tell you...if you actually take those sets to and beyond failure you will puke.

Leg Press 3x15-20 (rest pause every set to 6-8 reps after the 10 second rest pause)
Hack Squats 2x8-10 (rest pause same as above)
Leg Press 1 triple drop set
Hack Squats 2x8-12 superset leg extensions 2x50

Yikes! (no barbell squats? nope!)

20 rep squats.

That's all I have to say.

And we ain't talking a 20 rep pump set, we are talking taking a weight you would normally only want to do 10 reps with and grinding it out for 20 by keeping the bar on your back, and taking several breaths inbetween those last reps and doing whatever it takes to get to 20.

I almost get blurry visions after that, have to close my eyes and lay down on the floor for a while. None the less one of the hardest things to do.

This was a leg workout I did with a buddy last year and I pulled it from my journey. Also i've been reading all these posts, and last I remembered, calves are part of legs.

Front Squats- 6 x 25
Leg Extensions- 2 x 30
D.B. Lunges- 2 x 50 per leg
Wide Leg Press- 2 x 25
Hack- 2 x 16
Stiffs SS lying leg curls- 3 x 20 each
Seated Calf- 2 x 85
Leg Press Calf- 3 x 30
Standing Calf- toes in x 20 , toes out x 20, toes forward x 100. Put a 45 on each side, then filled out with 5's and did them non stop till 100. If I got to 33 and coudnt get any more, my bud would pull 1 5plate off each side. No rest in between the drop, didnt even take the bar off my back. So each drop set was only dropping 10lbs, to keep weight high. It was fantastic. After 100, my calves were so filled with blood I couldnt even flex them. We finished with 5 mins on stair climber, just to loosen up and relax the legs.

MRmichael.hooker
03-08-11, 2:16 pm
Leg Press- 85
Leg Extensions- Triple Drop
Front Squats- 25
Sissy Squats- 20

All done as 1 giant set, 3x. It blows lol

inspired by this thread, even though i'm on 5/3/1 (low volume) I decided to ramp up the work on squat day today. after hittin a squat PR, I did 3 wall sits till I dropped, and then lunge walked the whole way from my college gym to my dorm building (getting lots of stares along the way lol). It was more of a mental test than anything, but every part of my legs is throbbing and twitching haha. Pick a destination, lunge walk to it. You won't be dissappointed.

I'll never forget this one...
Last summer I did a heavy squat day and worked up to 315x3x3, then did 3x10 GHRs, then squatted 225 for 2 sets of 20 followed by 185 for 15...I almost passed out after that one, but I was feeling extra stupid, so I did 3 sets of 30 yard lunges. I immediately ran inside to puke and then spent an hour laying on the sidewalk. I don't normally do a ton of rep work being a powerlifter, so this was brutal for me.

I read an article in 2009 in MD you said about centuries, and i've done them ever since. They are fantastic bro. Now, the pt.s at my gym are doing them, lol. Shit, 2 months ago, I did centuries up to 6 plates. Then was doing standing 1leg hamstrings, sets of 20reps. 2nd set, tore my hammy. Centuries definently take you to failure, lol
