So I was on another website where they were talking about carb ups and how they should be clean. I didn't understand this because I had pizza for my carb up and am still losing 2 pounds a week consistently. They also mentioned carbing up for 24 to 48 hours straight!!! Why do people do it that way? I like the one meal carb up that I was suggested to do on here and am having success with it. I realize that as you get leaner you may need to clean it up some, but people were talking about having yams, almonds, and tuna in excess. I did not listen to them because I trust you guys on here a lot and you guys have never steered me wrong. So what is your take on this?

there are different approaches to the cheat meal or day in ketosis
to me a cheat meal is better than a cheat day or a cheat weekend
why?
because
when you have a cheat meal
you wake up next day in ketosis
when you have a cheat day or weekend
you wake up next day runnin on glycogen and will take you 3 days for your stores to empty and be back on ketosis
(SENSELESS TO ME)
and a waste of money, time and effort
now clean cheat meal
do it if you want
but you been carb depleting the whole week
and eatin food with no taste
and fats
dont you think you deserve a nice cheat meal?
you brains deserve a piece or cake or some fuckin chocolate bars

I couldn't agree more! By the way you helped me a ton with my keto diet and I just wanted to thank you and let you know that its going awesome so far. I'm already seeing my bodyfat % drop a lot. I'm glad there are veterans around to help young guys like me that are looking to learn a lot.

no need to thank me bro, we are all learning here
Were they talking about glycogen supercopensation where you do a 36 hour load? Its different than a keto diet. You do seven days of zero carbs followed by a 36 hour window where you pound carbs every 2 hrs for 36 hours (roughly).

They did not use that phrase, but by the way your describing it, I'm pretty sure that it is what they were talking about. They all referred to it as the keto diet though.
yea, many people that do that have diets that switch around. they may do keto week one, isocalric week 2, carb cycel week 3 etc. Stick with krazy and just do the cheat meal unless you want to try some intricate diet.

Well keto is working really well for me and knowing that I get to have pizza weekly and still lose fat is great. I was really just curious of why they were talking about doing it that way. I'm not going to change my diet, I just wanted to learn about what they were doing.

Like Krazy said, different people have different approaches, me I'd rather have my one dirty as fuck cheat meal like pizza with Pb and J or cinnamon rolls, then a bunch of almonds and oats all day.
But it may be different for someone else, just depends on your take on it.

Same here, nothing hits the spot like pizza

This is carb cycling, and works well. There is a high carb day (when you eat as many carbs as you can pretty much), Low carb day which is like 60 g of carbs for 4 meals (which is still pretty high but this is if you weigh 200lbs) and zero carb days, usually on your days off, I might try it starting next week oh and you get a cheat meal once a week. whats wrong with yams and almonds?

nothing is wrong with yams and almonds... but they can't compare to pizza in the taste category

I think that the carb-up meals are supposed to be just carbs so you can refill your glyocgen stores and prevent your metabolism from slowing down in response to the low carb intake. Adding saturated fat from pizza, etc makes it more likely that those carb-up carbs will be stored as fat instead of glycogen. One meal is not going to change things that much, but that is the reason why yams and oatmeal are suggested for carb up. The almonds have good fats which actually help break down body fat.

I understood that part. I probably should have specified more that I was confused about people carbing up for 24 to 48 hours.

fat has no interference with the way carbs are stored.... if your carb stores are low (or empty on a keto) it's most likely that the carbs you eat in a cheat meal will go in your carb stores, regardless of the type of carbs, or if you eat fat at that meal
