So, it's gotten to the point where I'm getting bored with my lifting routines. I've done a lot of different things, and I'm just...feeling too stale. I'm not excited for my workouts anymore, and I'm not enjoying them.

I've been thinking about changing up my routine drastically--maybe involving a lot of gymnastic workout routines for a change, but I'm afraid I might not like those either, and lose muscle and lots of hard work in the past wasting my time.

Any help? Been through any plateaus like this? I really need to overcome my boredom in the weight room, soon..

Doze... what happened to the GVT?

Man I was having a similar issue... LKJ had me go on this semi powerlifting routine... I love it...
if all else fails go to the powerlifting...

Start doing crazy exercises, giant sets, go do a Milos Sarcev type of thing. Maybe do some strongman events or powerlifting.

How about doing supersets, giant sets, drop sets and circuits.

I'd definitely take a week off if I were you... probably even two, but at least one

I second that one... take a week or 2 off and come back and try a powerlifting routine. I'd suggest something like a westside routine which offers a lot of variety.

whether it be powerlifting or bodybuilding, set a real goal, one than can be attained with reasonable hard work. For me, once I started bodybuilding( competing) I have not felt that boredom again. It give me a plan of attack, if I dont follow I will lose. I never competed in power lifting but I am sure it must be the same for them, getting ready for their competitions.

GVT is boring me...I don't know. I think it's because I'm using exercises I've done for years. I've done the powerlifting thing before, but I hurt my back VERY badly, and still suffer some from maxing out too much. I might go with a more powerlifting oriented bodybuilding, that could switch it up for me.

Thanks for all the support, everyone.

You found GVT boring???!! How's that? You must not be using enough weight, then!!! I know that when I dod GVT, I couldn't move for a week, wvery week, for 12 weeks.... good shit....

I would do what the guys are recommending you. First, take some time off, second, incorporate intensity techniques, (check out some articles by Schak), thrid, if bodybuilding routines are boring ya, go Westside.... that's always intense and hard as hell!!

Above all, have fun with your training!! If you're bored, you're not gonna want to do it as much, and if ou don't do it, you won't get better......

I'm finding it boring due to the use of only one exercise for pretty much the entire workout. I seem to be getting over it, and ready to jump back into it tomorrow. I've got 4 more weeks of GVT, and when I'm done, I might go westside. That sounds kinda kickass, actually...

Let us know if you have any questions setting up your westside template.

call me crazy...but sometimes whenever I feel things are becoming a bit too routine in the gym...I take a couple weeks and go with the flow of things. Meaning, no stress of a laid out routine, none of this... I have to hit a PR today...no omg, I forgot to do this exercise so let me add another 4 sets to my already 20 I just did. Just go in there and lift from your heart, let that drive you and motivate you.

I feel this approach always gave me a bit of a breather and refreshed my lifting style a bit..it gave me more freedom as far as not getting so stressed on feeling I had to do something a certain way. Your improvising and a master plan remains set in motion, looming in the background. Your getting the work done that needs to be done, your just a bit more relaxed about it. Honestly, whenever I took a couple weeks of this sort of training, where I just went in the gym and did what I felt like doing, once I organized a more rounded routine and training split, I came back stronger than ever.

I just think sometimes we stress too much over this stuff...its not rocket science and we dont always have to follow text book style training to find what works. Sometimes what works is just doing what you feel and breaking barriers by trusting your own instincts.
