Haha...amn there aint nothing like Slash to get me in the squattin mood! I love me some Ole Blue Eyes too...not while lifting...but "Fly me to the Moon"-his best song. Haha..I am very in touch with the old music..and I also love the classic rock, anything from Judas Priest, Metallica, ACDC, Ozzy, Motley Crue...bring it on! I actually used some Guns N Roses to get me through my last set of 405 on squats yesterday...haha

Mine is from the Rocky soundtrack...Going The Distance. To some it may be corny, but that's what gets me hyped and wanting to go the distance.

eminem - till i collapse
the best intro to a song

"Cause sometimes you feel tired,
feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up.
But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength
and just pull that shit out of you and get that motivation to not give up
and not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse."

I skipped from page one to the last page, but I saw no mention of Machine Head. Check out their song "Imperium". That shit will get you pumped up like a mo-fo. You'll be throwin' up some serious weights with that stuff ringing in your ears. I also jam out on Fear Factory, Pantera, Testament, and Strapping Young Lad. When I'm in the mood for something a bit lighter, I go with King's X or something along those lines. But if you're into the heavy stuff, check out all those bands I listed. They kick major ass.

I am getting tired of listening to the same old shit on mp3 player. I like listening to something hard (rock, even some rap depending on the mood) when I lift. Anything that will keep me moving. Away from the gym I listen to country mostly, so I don't know what to put on my mp3 player when I hit the gym.
I tried to search for a thread like this but I couldn't find one.

What are some of the songs you guys listen to that help you get through your work out?

You fellas want something to get you goin then listen to Nonpoint-"Bullet With A Name On It". Nonpoint also does a pretty kickass version of Phil Collins-"In the Air Tonight". There's also a new up and coming group called Miser. Miser does an awesome version of The Cranberries-"Zombie". Check out Avenged Sevenfold-"Chapter Four" also. Future Leaders of the World-"Let me Out" kicks ass. For those who don't mind the chics singing then check out Flyleaf. We all remember Chevelle-"The Red" and Papa Roach-"Last Resort". OK..OK I'm shutting up.

Alot of us use music to get us focused in the gym (hey we don't all use ammonia tabs!), some just use it to keep themselves sane after a long day of work. Whats your favorite music?

I go for a mixture. Half Rock and Half Hip Hop.

The good news is that Jay-Z & linkin park album is both. Thats pretty good but i've listened to it so much im getting bored of it.

I'm all for the soundtrack. But how about this...

there is a company called PODfitness that I've seen fliers for. Apparently the deal is you get to down load a workout (the ad showed Jay Cutler) where he walks you through a work out, excerices, sets, etc as you listen along as you work out.

My thoughts are.. why doesn't Animal do something along these lines? I'm thinking the devoted Animals of the Forum would pay gladdly for such a service. Hard a$$ kicking music, and Wrath, Machine, G Diesel, etc screaming IT'S TIME FOR YOUR SET! GET IT UP!...

How about it Universal / Animal?

It sounds kinda lame to me. If you guys really want the music from the dvds, there are softwares available that will let u rip the audio. I have used such to rip inspiring dialogues from the Rocky movies; I use them at the gym in between some heavy tracks.

I can remember coming out of the tunell when I played ball lights shining, music blaring and just getting absolutely stoked. Yeah I listen to tunes when I left, it just dials me in even more. Especially some kick ass hard and heavy shit. Now growing up in the city I am pretty eclectic in my music. But for the most part I need heavy guitars, and kick ass beats. Currently killin' a little Hatebreed, Bionic Jive etc. and whatever else gets me going.

On the way to the gym and while I'm at the gym its all about rap and heavy metal. Shit like DMX, Lil Whyte Pitbull or some Rammstein, Dope or Pantera.

But outside the gym, when all is said and done, off days or after workouts, I like alot of classical stuff. Mozart, Beethoven or Wolfsheim. Weird but I like to try to relax when I'm done at the gym. Mind and body.

In terms of Animal making a CD/iTunes playlist, DO IT!

I kill my iPod in the gym I have just 1 nasty lifting playlist with crazy heavy shit. We should List the top 10 songs from the "brotherhood" here and then take the top ten most resuested tunes. It gotta be hard and heavy though!

My list has:

Tool - Anything from them, serious, hardcorp, shit
Non-Point- headstrong
Pantera- 5 minutes Alone, Walk,
Metallica- Blackened, 4x4, You aint my bitch
Powerman 5000- Anything from Blood Splat Rating System
Korn- Blind, F&^et, Shoots and Ladders
System of a Down- Toxicity, Ariels
P.O.D- Southtown, Messenjah
Hatebreed- Onward to Victory

Long time I haven't seen the music thread, so, why not say what you listen to ?

I got some nice songs from Ensiferum, Like: (in no particularly order)

Blood Is The Price Of Glory
Bring Me A Magic Potion
Ahti
Deathbringer From The Sky
Token Of Time
Wanderer
Warrior's Quest

To see someone giving up, i think i should say this next time :

(from Blood is the price of glory)

Your screams can't make me feel pity or regret
I only feel furious hatred
With fire my domination is gained
Shall burn away and let my kind rule the world again

The two first sentence are nicer but I decided to include the two others too.

So, What do you listen to ?

either Menocide or Possessions by OTEP. Can't go wrong with Cannibal Corpse or Eyehategod either. Pantera is good if your someplace where there's few true heavy metal fans, and you don't want to deal with the other people bitching about the heavier darker stuff. Also for all you Pantera fans, try Super Joint Ritual. Its a project band that Phill started.

Disturbed - I'm Alive

The lyrics are just amazing... I almost have the song on repeat through my whole routine now... The chorus it goes like...

The thing I treasure most in life cannot be taken away
There will never be a reason why I will surrender to your advice
To change myself, I'd rather die
Though they will not understand
I will make the greatest sacrifice
You can't predict where the outcome lies
You'll never take me alive

Just awesome....

Lamb of God: "Blood of the Scribe" and "Omerta"

Actually, all theirr fucking albums get my pumped up.
"beating on death's door"
"walk with me in hell"
"vigil"
"pariah"
the list goes on and on.

if there are any metal heads out there who haven't checked out LOG or their new album "Sacrament" do so.

I have to say nothing does it for me quite like Soulfly, in particular the first album and 2nd (Primitive). Everything about it is motivating, music, vocals, and especially LYRICS. The shit just pumps me up beyond belief.

Also, for anyone lookin for some new shit to get pumped to, I highly suggest listening to SOILWORK. The best albums in my opinion are Natural Born Chaos, Figure Number Five, and Stabbing the Drama.

I gotta also represent for Pantera on here.

I started this poll!

Rammstein - Adios, Alter Mann, Asche Zu Asche, Bang Bang, Bestrafe Mich, Buck Dich, Das Modell, Der Meister, Du Hast, Du Riechst So Gut, Eifersucht, Engel, Herzeleid, Ich Will, Rammstein, Kuss Mich, Links, Mein Herz Brennt, Rein Raus, Sehnsucht, Sonne, Spiel Mit Mir, Stripped, Tier, Weisses Fleisch, Wilder Wein, Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen, Zwitter

Another BIG vote for Rammstein here, but I have to add Reise, Reise, Mein Teil, and Keine Lust from the album Reise, Reise.

I haven't heard Wollt Ihr in some time, I miss that song.

I haven't heard Manson's new stuff, but I am fond of Antichrist Superstar (specifically Little Horn and Irresponsible Hate Anthem).

I know we have some threads on here about what bands/genre of music you lift to... my question is this... when you're getting ready for that one big lift... whether it's deads, squats, bench... whatever... what's the one song that's almost guaranteed to fire you up through the set?

Rammstein - Reise, Reise

Slayer- Angel of death / Raining blood

I usually am listening to talk radio while lifting. If I need a kick on a particular lift I will play 'push it' by Static X.

Domination by Pantera before I squat

Walk With Me In Hell by Lamb of God before I deadlift!

Just downloaded a bunch of "As I Lay Dying"...pretty good stuff. Similar to Bleeding Through, Black Dahlia Murder, Unearth, etc...my favorites.

Black Dahlia Murder just came out with a new album BTW called "Nocturnal", good shit. Also I'm going to be checking out "Between the Buried & Me", and "Born of Osiris".

Route 1 and Kinetic by All Else Failed. both songs have a slow part then goes into an isane build up. not the generic kind either.
