Well for me, nothing gets me thru a brutal session with the iron like the band TYR - viking metal at it's finest. Songs like Gandkvaedi Trondar, Hail to the Hammer and The Edge help push me beyond the pain.

thing is sometimes I actually like listening to something different.Maybe classical of some kind.Sometimes depending on my mood it makes it easier or harder to focus.

Anyway one of my favorite songs to listen to this past week has been Metallica "all nightmare long"

I also like "heroic" soundtrack music -- Superman, Sky Captain, anything by Miklos Rosza or Erich Korngold, . . . that sort of thing.

The one song with lyrics that gets me going is this one:

MARCH OF CAMBREADTH

Author: Heather Alexander

Axes flash, broadswords swing
Shining armors’ piercing ring
Horses run with polished shield
Fight those bastards ‘til they yield

Midnight mare, blood red roan
Fight to keep this land your own
Sound the horn and call the cry
How many of them can we make die?

Follow orders as you’re told
Make their yellow blood run cold
Fight until you die or drop
A force like ours is hard to stop

Close your mind to stress and pain
Fight ‘til you’re no longer sane
Let not one damn cur pass by
How many of them can we make die?

Guard your women and children well
Send these bastards back to Hell
We’ll teach them the ways of war
And they won’t come here anymore

Use your shield and use your head
Fight ‘til everyone is dead
Raise the flag up to the sky
How many of them can we make die?

Dawn has broke, the time has come
Move your feet to the marching drum
We’ll win the war and pay the toll
Fight as one in heart and soul

Midnight mare and blood red roan
Fight to keep this land your own
Sound the horn and call the cry
How many of them can we make die?

Axes flash, broadswords swing
Shining armors’ piercing ring
Horses run with polished shield
Fight those bastards ‘til they yield

Midnight mare and blood red roan
Fight to keep this land your own
Sound the horn and call the cry
How many of them can we make die?
How many of them can we make die?
How many of them can we make die?

With bagpipes and drums behind it, it gets my blood really going!

When it comes to songs that get me pumped, I have the standards like disturbed, slipknot, godsmack, breaking benjamin, etc.

Another tactic I use, is that I put songs on my mp3 player that remind me of other things lifting related, such as the youtube clip ''best of kevin levrone''. The song in the backgorund is Creed - Higher. when that song comes into play at the gym, I just picture him working out, and that gets me really amped up.

True Hip Hop indeed man, I have to admit some of the gangsta mainstream stuff is good during workouts, get me hyped up but as they say in the song act too "Hip hop you the love of my life" and by that I mean the real deal like, few of my faves

93 till infinity- Souls of mischeif
Cant keep running away- the pharcyde
A day at the races -Jurassic 5
Mass appeal- Gangstarr
Electric relaxtion- A tribe called quest

All of the above are great when workin out...

I'm pretty sure this thread was moved into another thread that is close to 100 pages in terms of gym tunes. Search through it and you'll find some great choices to get you pumped. Club hits works for some people, but not me. I need rock. Creed, Bullet for my valentine, disturbed, godsmack, all that remains.

I'm a favorite of ''Headbangers Ball Vols I and II" Both CDs has shit-ton of gym-ready tunes.

The "It's time to get down to fuckin' buisness" anthem!

Can't you see I'm easily bothered by persistence
One step from lashing out at you...
You want in to get under my skin
And call yourself a friend
I've got more friends like you
What do I do?
Is there no standard anymore?
What it takes, who I am, where I've been
Belong
You can't be something you're not
Be yourself, by yourself
Stay away from me
A lesson learned in life
Known from the dawn of time
Re--spect, walk, what do you say??
Re--spect, walk, are you talking to me???
Run your mouth when I'm not around
It's easy to achieve
You cry to weak friends that sympathize
Can you hear the violins playing your song?
Those same friends tell me your every word
Is there no standard anymore?
What it takes, who I am, where I've been
Belong
You can't be something you're not
Be yourself, by yourself

I like mostly rock, metal, and hip hop.. here are some recent ones I have on the trusty ipod.

rob zombie-more human than human, superbeast, dragula, anything by him is good.
korn- evolution, counting on me, thoughtless, here to stay, coming undone.
godsmack-awake, re-align, i stand alone.
guns and roses-welcome to jungle, nighttrain, paradise city, the old stuff. appetite for destruction is good.
eminem- till i collapse, i still don't give a f*ck, the way i am.
drowning pool- bodies, tear away, i dont care about anyone.
disturbed-anything
slipknot-anything its all good too.
kid rock-american badass, bawitdaba
lil jon- throw it up, never scared, what u gonna do.
limp bizkit- rollin, my generation, my way or the highway.
metallica-anything its all good.
ludacris-move b*tch
papa roach-old stuff is good.
outkast-older stuff too.

theres some ideas

So I'm look for you're input on good artists and songs to put on my iPod for when I go down to the gym, pump some iron and run some laps on the treadmill... in my mp3 player i have every NiN song, alot of rage against the mechine, tool, a perfect circle and lots more. if i didn't have my mp3 player at the gym i would go carzy hearing the shit they play! i hate pop and rap and that's all they play.

In Flames
Protest The Hero
Soilwork
Symphony X
Aceyalone
The Haunted
The Human Abstract

Basically aggressive shit or something packed with energy. I have over 80 gigs worth of music in my ipod, but a majority of the stuff(even though its aggressive) doesn't work well with the gym.

Not seeing too many people that like angry rap. For some reason, some days, I like to listen to old DMX, Eminem, 2Pac etc. I'm not hood in any way but the music brings out the angry side of me which I can transform into strength.

Hey I'm there with you bro. Any personal favorites you can share so I can add something fresh to the music player?

Drama Setter - Eminem

That gets me in the mood for sure. lyrics read:

I'm a Drama Setter, gripping my baretta sipping Armaretta
Man you crazy if you think Ima let up
I told you I'm a Drama Setter
I'll be the first to set it homie, you can bet it just don't get in the way of my chedda
Man cause I'm a Drama Setter
I don't go looking for no trouble but somehow the trouble always finds me
Don't make me have you in the trauma center
With you momma crying cause her only son is dying
She just don't know it's just your karma catching upcause I'm a Drama Setter
