Was wondering what I should do I was reading an article on the website and it say 1-6reps, powerlifter 8-10 bodybuilder, 12-15 for toning. Im trying to drop body fat should I still do the 1-6 reps I currently do 6 sets of 4 reps.. Im at 5'10 213lbs and about 20% body fat and I want to get down to about 12-15%

to be honest with you i dont believe the "lift light more reps get cut" sorta thing...i believe it is all nutrition and i will sometimes do 8,8,6,3. and the next week ill do 15,10,8,8. i go higher just to switch things up.

just my 2 cents

i'd say stay heavy , heavy lifting increases muscle tones makes u thick burns more cals and increases ur metabolism.

there is no such thing as toning imo.
toning is losing fat while gaining muscle. while this is possible, it is not accomplished by any rep range.

Cutting up is mostly up to your diet....get the cardio in there as needed. As for the lifting...depends on what works for you. I prefer the high volume lifting myself but to each his own. Something I used to do...main lift lift heavy lower reps and all secondary lifts I I go for higher reps...keep switching things up till ya find what works for you.

if low reps built the muscle then it should help keep the muscle....do you agree?

dude, if you have some flab on your waist, you need to do cardio on an empty stomach, 45 mins to 1 hour, 3 times a week.

Agreed, keep goin heavy bro (6-12), every 4th week or when i start to feel tired, i do a back off week and go light 12-20 reps on everything to stay fresh and do a lot of direct work, and yes obviously follow a strict diet if you want to lose weight and cardio

Like everyone else has said diet is the key. Keep doing what you have been doing, theres no reason to change your lifting unless it has stopped working.

Positive. Im currently doing a 6set 4 rep routine where I do 1 push, 1 pull, and 1 squat. Check out my log in my sig.

I still go as heavy as I have been in the offseason now as I'm dieting for a show. I think you start lifting light your gonna lose size. I also don't think 4 reps is quite enough. I would increase that slightly and maybe hit 4 on your last set.

i think you can acheive the toned look sooner by training in the hypertrophy range. muscles get bigger, skin around area gets tighter etc.

nobody here advocates for high rep sets to get toned,

what i recommend you is, train heavy and low reps
and make cardio your best friend along with a nice diet

as others have said, there ain't such thing as toning... however, the 12-15 rep range isn't neccessarily bad

switch'em up, for instance don't always train in the 6-10 rep range, sometimes throw in some heavy sets (1-5 reps), other times throw in some hypertrophy sets somewhere in the 10-15 range

use'em all

So is a 6set 4 rep for my routine bad? Check out my log in my signature, u'll see what Im doing and talking about. I was going to do this for 3-4weeks and then do a week or 2 of higher reps to shock the system and then back to 6x4. What do you all think?

you can answer this yourself if its workoing then dont fix it ............ if its not working then fix it

To get cut you definitely have to include cardio and behave in regards to your diet. Raise the number of reps if you want to lower bf levels - which at 20%, you should.

I just see most of these fello animals do routine for example: J-Rock he starts his sets at 15 and breaks it down to 3 reps each time then some times he does a drop set. Now is that more recommended then doing 6x4 routine? I know its all how the body feels but Im trying to drop the fat but at the same time become an animal... help please.
