am fifteen years old this friend of mine about 16-17 years old came up to me and was like i heard you you take protien shakes and i said yeah.so then we got in an arguement he started saying my muscle is artificial and shit(is their such a thing as artificial muscle)he kept sating it hard work and am just being lazy...is it lazy for me to supplement because he says am gretting big to fast...he first thought i was on the roids...after i told more about the shake i mentioned it had creatine....Tthats when he told me that creatine isn't all that good because CREATINE DEHYDRATES YOUR BODY...now i dont know if this true but i have had that happen to me once so he told i need to get of the stuff and just eat alot...
so the question is should i stop supplementing and just pray that i gain, does age matter when it comes to supplementing, and is it true creatine dehydrates the body?

Protein shakes aren't being lazy...Its almost impossible to get all the nutrients you need out of normal food, you would have to eat like a horse to get everything without shakes. Plus shakes are easier to digest, easier to make, and just plain easier...You can catagorize that as being lazy, but I think its just being smart. Also creatine seems to dehydrate me, so I just drink more water, make sure you are doing that. If you cramp up during the night, thats a sign, good luck, and don't let the doubters get you down, keept lifting and eating right
do the kid a favor walk up to him and pop im right in his mouth... that guys talking out of his ass dude, protein shakes are exacly wat you need after workout and befor workout. and creatine if anything helps you. it saturates your muscles with water so you can recover quicker and get bigger... and trust me that guy wont get bigger if he isnt having his protein... i benched 225 when i was 15 ... no creatine just protein shakes... so dont trip. your friends clueless. you got REAL muscle .. poor kids just jelous. like i said pop him in the mouth.

oh and the artifical muscle thing made me laugh, thats a new one...no that isnt true...muscle is muscle, is there artificial horsepower? artificial torque....no, power is power. period
oh and i forgott to mention... creatine only dehidrates you if your not dreanking enough water make shure you have at least 130oz of water or a gallon....a gallon and a half tops..VERY VERY VERY important when on creatine.

Just sounds like the punk is jealous to me.
That creatine sucks the water up bro so you need to get in a lot of water. Your brain needs a certain amount of water around it as well that is why people get those head aches so be careful fill up one of those milk cartons and make sure you drink it all during the day this will let you know you got in enough water hope this helps youn brother ps bus ol boy in the face for me too.

First off, don't take advice from someone who doesn't even understand bodybuilding, nonetheless the importance that supplementation can play. Protein shakes are essentially food for your muscles--they help supply the body with the right nutrition for gains. Essentially they supply the body with an easily digestable source of protein that can be quickly assimilated into the body. As for the creatine... there are hundreds of studies, first showing its' efficacy and secondly its' safety. For overall good health be sure to drink plenty of water to help in ensuring best gains.

what does creatine do?
natural creatine stores in your muscle are responsible for maintaining ATP levels--ATP is pure energy--good for muscles right?
when you take creatine with workouts, it pulls water loaded with creatine into the muscle fibers so that after working out hard, this ATP can be replaced-also creatine makes the muscle cell bigger by pulling this water into it
so creatine does not "dehydrate" you so to speak, it just uses water to pull itself into muscles, so you have to stay adequately hydrated to maintain its effectiveness...

protein and creatine are the most basic of neccessary supps for bodybuilding next to BCAA's. All that kid was doing was looking for an excuse to seem better than you. Do the research and dont hit the kid because he brought up a concern of his own, no matter how stupid people may be violence should always be the last resort. Be the better MAN and come up with an educated answer and then confront him with that answer when you are prepared too.

Tell your fuckwit "friend" to piss off back to his needlepoint class!
You're doing ok mate!
I don't even classify protein shakes as a supplement anymore. It's just as "real" as chicken breast and rice in my book. I think most would agree. Your friend probably feels a little jealous that you're getting so big. You have to up your water intake while taking creatine. It's normal. You have to in order to get the full benefits of creatine.
