My university has started a mens swim team, in follow up to a matured womens team
I was accepted into the team with some experienced athletic swimmers / lifeguards
I used to do a lot of swimming for lifeguard training and for leisure, but it's been a while since I did fast-paced swimming
I am looking to shed weight, increase my energy endurance (I can get worn out fast), but maintain the strength I've worked/dedicated to
I know it sounds kinda ridiculous, but I'm really trying to push for this
Loosing weight for me ,however, is more challenging than a graduate engineering class
Would anyone have any advice (supps, routine,...)? (NCAA athletes, trainers, anyone with a fair idea)
I lift weights 7 days a week and use elipitcal (medium resistance) at "cardio range" for 20-30min 4-7x week
I am using Animalpak with ON-superior amino, and protein is all from meat/nuts/eggs-egg whites/milk

the only advice I can give you is from my experience may not be the same for you... I kept eating pretty high calorie/protien meals and wanted to up my endurance for mma so I just started running i'm at 3+ miles a day now and endurance is thrue the roof strength has gone down a bit in the past few months but not much

Anyone looking to shed that extra bf needs to mostly focus on a sound diet: meal every two hours, good carbs, fats, proteins, fiber, FLUIDS...As an olympic weightlifter, I can only suggest routines that will develop explosive strength...But when I need to improve my cardio and raise my endurance, I perform mostly high repetition with full body movements. I usually get into kettlebells when I do this kind of training. Kettlebell movements are tough, they hurt, and after each set you feel like you're going to shit your lungs...and by the way, you'll burn fat like a mad man. Google it but if you want more suggestions, let me know.

I have droped bf% from 20% all the way down to 15% in about 1.5 months just by joggin 15-20 miles a week the meal plan has not changed much at all I ate pretty clean to begin with high protien 1.5g per lb of lean mass very low carbs meals every 2 hours and good fats but runnung was the key for me to lose bf% and up my endurance

Intense cardio sessions like short sprints increase lung power greatly. A mix of that and long cardio sessions will increase your endurance, but you will want to continue eating high calories to fuel these workouts. Have you ever seen what a tour de france guy eats in a day? They take in hundreds and hundreds of carbs.

Guess I'll need to pull out my spikes n' get ready for sprint conditioning, woot woot
When you mentioned mix of that and long cardio - you mean in succession or to do them on different days during the week?
I am currently using eliptical under medium resistance for 25-30min intervals 4-7 days a week
I'll try to get in a actual sound diet, given its college food I have to put up with
Thank you all who have pitched in some thought to this situation
Still open for anyone else to throw in their 2 cents to this matter

Running won't only cut fat, but will increase your endurance.. gettin' you in better shape to race.
