So im takin this week off and been doing some research and think about trying a double split routine I made up. Im gonna start my bulk when I start back up and plan to add some serious mass. Have any of you ever used a double split? Anyways here what I came up with only a dbl split for two days just divided up back


morning Chest evening lats
Legs/ calves
off
morning Shoulders evening rows
Arms/calves
cardio/abs
off

alot of the old pros like arnold used to do two workouts a day, but i've heard some say that hard lifting twice a day like that could raise your cortisol levels, which isnt gunna be good for bulking at all. I've never done it, so feel free to try it, just make sure to really do some research on it.

Ive run a double out of Arnold's Encyclopedia before...I changed it up a bit. Personally I was going:

Day One:
(A.M.) Chest/Back (P.M.) Legs
Day Two:
Shoulders/Arms
Day Three: Rest
Repeat

He suggested going six days on one day off instead of two on one off, but that is the way I found it worked for me best. Make sure you get at least 8 hours of rest between workouts in the same day (more if you had been active that day). I would also suggest taking a week break (one workout a day instead of two) after three or four weeks to make sure you give your body a chance to recover. As long as you are taking in sufficient calories and getting enough rest between workouts I say go for it and good luck!

Arnold was also training for Mr Olympia and did nothing else but eat and sleep and sunbath the rest of the day, personally I think its too much unless you are up to the level of top National competition.

Agreed Sanga...train intense and rest, no need to train all that for the average joe bber

I think Arnold did a 2 on 1 off split in which he would do push then pull the next day then off so he would do legs like 3 times a week sometimes, and im not doing that...not yet hah
