Yo bro I am bulkin up this offseason and the only thing that might stop me is my Skin if it is lucky....

With a new year comes new growth. I am kickin my bulk up to a new level this offseaon. I started to consume mass amounts of good quality food and my growth is going out of my skin... six big meals per day is what i am doing right now. Three solid and three shakes. but the shakes i use are shakes that might just kick you right i the teeth. mass shakes. my shake of choice right now is... if you can take it all down bro you are on the right track. two scoops of real gains one scoop of whey, three scoops of the old pb and 1/2 cup of oats. all mixed up and served with a mint on the side, well the mint was a joke but it would be nice.

Bro I go 2grams of protein per pound of bodyweight, and 2.5-3 grams of carbs per pound of bodyweight. so 550 pro and 825 for carbs right now...

One of the hardest parts for me is putting on any sort of mass....no matter how much protein i take in per day. my metabolism is such that it will burn it off pretty quickly. right now i am eating chicken, rice, eggs, and meats 7 or 8 times per day and doing 4 protein shakes as well mixed with milk instead of water to help the protein stick better.

My lower body is really overpowering my upper body.
I squat heavy 3 sets of 5 three times a week adding weight to the bar everyworkout. Do you think lighter 20 rep squats or even hack squats would stop my glutes from growing and really cut up my quads?
I'm planning on competing this summer for the first time. But before I step on stage, I already know I need to bring my upperbody up to par with my legs.
Any suggestions?

bro i am clean right now 6 days a week then i eat what ever i get on my paws on one day a week. on clean days i eat fish, beef, chicken and whey shakes and for carbs rice ond oats for the most part...

try some front squats one the weight is lighter and hits quads harder, and i think training legs once a week is enough if you hit it hard on that day... aslo hit the reps around 8-12 and you should see better results... good luck on the show keep me posted bro

I agree with house. hit the front squats hard at a lighter weight. Something challenging, but also a weight where you can hit 8-12 reps 5-6 sets. I was having the same problem as you, and this diced mine up nicely. Also keep it once maybe twice a week on legs, 3 times is too much bro. Good luck on the show

i changed to brown rice because i have been eating white rice for awhile i will do this for a few weeks and then change back. the brown burns slower so it will stay with me longer... tip of the day make sure you dirink that good old water when training hard and eating right.. it will help you push out all the waste and keep the body going strong... later the house

I hear this alot, there is alot wrong with this.
1. Your body can't store protein as a energy source. So, if your eatting huge amounts of tuna in a can with a small salad. Your not going any where.
2. If you did eat anything that is in front of you then, you wouldn't have a problem to begin with.
I'm not the biggest guy in the gym, I've been 120 and am currently 170 at a height of 65". The best thing you can do is to increase EVERYTHING. Here is something for you,... do you remember in school looking at the food pyramid with the recommended servings of what you should eat on a 2,000 cal per day average? Multiply that whole pyramid by 3 (and keep in mind to keep your protein at 1.5-2.0 times your bodyweight). I promise you'll begin putting on mass, and if your doing cardio,... STOP.
It's much easier to stop running then it is to add another 1500 cal to your already 6,000 cals a day.

I havent done cardio in a long time, but right now what sucks is i have to start training for a race that is coming up in march in chicago. so for right now what i think i am going to do is cut down a little, get back to my military running time of 5 minutes. I am going to keep trying to get more mass, but lean mass til after the race. i LOVE peanut butter too..I wake up at 3am every night specifically to have a peanut butter sandwich.

when i am tryin to gain weight i dont do cardio unless i start to gain to fast and then i add some just to slow me down and become level at that weight... so my skin can catch up true bro true... i think this is good for me because in the long run it makes me eat more food so when i stop to gain fast again i will be eatin more...

-one frozen pizza(large) with a real gains shake
- two chicken breast with 2cups rice with milk
- fish with green peppers fried with rice

If you are what you eat then i am a chicken today since i am bulkin i decided to get three whole baked chickens from the local food deli. i ate each chicken with one cup of rice today for three of my meals bro it was great.....but i dont think i am going to eat chicken tomorrow bro just more eggs form the chicken... If you've got the $ atlantic salmon is the way to go, none of that pacific shit. Best fish I've ever had was salmon cooked/smoked on a cedar plank over a campfire, marinated in maple syrup and black rum.

Good idea. I have the same issues. I'm at just under 300 lbs right now, up from 240 this time last year, and my joints are feeling the strain. I played hoops last night...G should like that...and I'm paying the price today. I'll be following suit with the animal flex. Keep up the great work bro.

I never leave parts out but i do hit things twice a week from time to time, on weaker body parts. weaker meaning needing to catch up to other body parts.. i was hitting chest twice a week becuse it needs to catch up. i would do a chest day and then hit chest again after my shoulder workout light, just to stimulate it again... I think you should never leave parts out they will get soft if you dont hit them...

and for tuna, i just started doing this. i USED to mix mayo w/ it, but it wasnt cutting it. so ill add some vegetable oil to the straight tuna. goes down nice and easy w/ some water.
im also on a bulk, im at 230 right now. been eating lots of beef, rice, oats, eggs, potatoes,drinking lots of milk, and hittin up carl's jr. a few times too.
so thats my game plan. im a rookie, so im still kinda finding out how my body responds to this food. its amazing though.
by the way, i really recommend getting some mrs. dash. ANY grocery store should carry it.

This is the longest I have ever been off a diet; my last show was Oct.15th. Is it harder for you to adjust to the whole "diet regimen" the first few weeks of starting or when your closer to showtime?
The first 2 weeks are ok for me, its in the middle of dieting that I start getting all nuts in my head. Than about 3 weeks out, I start getting nervous and anxious and really hungry!

But have you guys ever heard of brown basmati rice. That shit tastes like wood. But its really awesome. Its got the lowest G.I out of all rice groups. Give it a try. If you can keep it down

21 weeks out this weekend, and i will be at the Arnold classic. It is harder to eat on schedule when at big events.. keep it clean and get my cardio in is my goal for the weekend.. hope to see everyone at the show..

bro, i hope it was worth it. anyhow i would keep bulking, gotta keep your muscles/nutrients flowing through the body to repair and retain the muscle you have. and hell maybe you will gain on legs in this time period! best of luck.

Checked out the pictures on your site and must say you look awsome. I still can't belive how big your calves are.
Ever try orange roughy? Its really nice, (4oz is 80cal, 1g fat and 17g protein). I buy them frozen then defrost. I spray a non-stick pan with butter flavored or olive oil flavored pam..get it hot..and sear both sides of the fish, then reduce heat and cover it for about 4 min till cooked through. It is such a tasty fish..you dont have to add anything else to it. Ever try it before? Do you eat scallops or shrimp when you cut?

Orange Roughy is probably my favorite type of fish. I do the same thing sear it in a pan and cover it but i also throw in frozen broccoli tips for my vegetable. I tried the fish on the Forman wost idea ever. Falls apart before its even finished. But i do the same thing House the white fish before bed, when I wake up in the morning I have a damn good amount of energy.

Man I wish i found this site when I started lifting. I had no guidance or knowledge when I got into the game. I'd lift hard and eat 3 times a day maybe, not even thinking about protein intake. After not getting any results, I decided to study. And whats what I did....learned all I could. Eat Eat Eat. Thankfuly I love to eat, so consuming 6-8 meals a day isn't a problem. Diet for today was like this
7am - 5 whole eggs and wheat toast and nonfat milk
9am - 44gram whey shake
11am - 30 gram whey shake(pre-workout)
1pm - Tore the triceps and shoulders apart
2:30pm - grilled chicken wrap
4:30pm - 8oz grilled chicken breast and wheat pasta
6:30pm - 1/4 burger with low fat swiss
10pm - 1/2 extra lean ground beef
Any suggestions or reccomendations to my dieting? Keep in mind all the beef is extra lean. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks brothers.

What do you weigh in at? If you're 190+, seems like you could eat more. Squeeze in some extra cals here and there and add the best supplement for gains: a gallon of milk each day.

Bulking? Maintaining? State your goals first. If you're bulking, which I assume you are you need to cut the shakes and eat SOLID food. That will pack on the muscle. Where's the red meat, oats, and potatoes?

The shakes today were just a lack of options, I didn't have any breaks between training sessions and I can't have food on the floor, so I had to improvise. As far as red meat goes, I usually have atlest 2-3 meals of red meat somehow during the day. Oats....I just cant down em...I've tried, they come right back up....I don't know what it is. Ive been stickin with the whole grain pastas and brown rice. Think im gonna ditch Whey for gainers however for the times when I'm at work and can't get to the real food. And yes, I'm trying to bulk. 207lbs right now, put on 7lbs this past month. Thanks for the reply bro.

I'm a big vanilla fan with whey or gainers. Tastes like a treat to me, but just try different flavors out because everyone's different. Once you find a good one though it'll be that much easier to down it every day. Peace.

Don't knock supplemented intake bro. You can gain off that just as easily as you can gain off solid food. I know of a very large guy that has competed on a national level several times, is on an almost all liquid diet for the off-season and pre-contest.
And god knows if I had to eat all my oats I'd get really pissed. Much easier to drink them.

When i was in the off season this year my carbs were: oats, white rice, potato, sweet potato. i just eat more of them when i gain...

yo house, throw in some almonds or flax in your shake for extra cal's and omegas, yogurt for good bacteria for the gut, all the extra food will get digested better.
