Today I pulled 525 on deads, raw. After having a few of the guys watch me they now want me to compete in a big show on May 24th. After researching the state records(tested raw dl) , the 16-17 age group is 605lb dl in the 220lb class. Now I'm not expecting to break it in the next month and a half but in the next year thats my goal but on to the real point of the thread. How do you guys peak for a meet for deads? I did 525 after 9 sets, the first half was in the 5-6 rep range and the few others were 3-4 reps then 505 for a single and 525 for a single. I'd like to hear some tips if ya guys don't mind. Thanks

Mike

Dude you should PM...Beastofrage or IRBS...both of them know this kind of stuff and many other guys here as well. You can also go to ask the pros and ask The King Of The Deadlift aka Sgt.Rock. Good luck.

my suggestion would be starting next do 2 weeks of speed pulls, 6-10 singles with 365. Remember, try to rip the bar off the floor with perfect form on every rep. Follow up the speed pulls with heavy GMs, i'd suggest 3x5. On wk3 work up to a single with the heaviest weight you feel like you can triple. This would be a safe opener. On week 4 do some speed pulls with 315 for 5 singles. Week 5 just rest until the meet.

where did u find the record at? id like to know what 220 is raw drug tested in missouri for 20 yr old. more like 22 y/o lol it will be a few years till i will be anywhere near enough to break a record. I know bench and squat i wouldnt stand a chance, but deadlifting comes easy to me and it was only like 8-9 months ago when i added them to my regular routine.

x2. Mark hit it on the head here, follow his advice. You will want to keep pulling heavy all the time, but that is going to do more harm than good at this point. Save your next big pull for the meet. On week 3 it is important NOT to go to a max single, but to pull a single like Mark said, with something you can easily triple, then your done, thats your opener. Follow what he laid out and you should peak nicely for your meet.
