View Full Version : while leaning out what type of routine best for maintaing lean mass???

my main concern is still maintaining mass because i know if i am not careful i can lose 10lbs FAST! and i am not a heavy guy (176) and i play basketball occasionally so i am not trying to over do it just so i can find my 6-pack.

with that being said, should i go for a 4 day split with cardio 2 days a week, or a 3 day split with cardio 3 days a week? (i could also do 30 mins of cardio on lifting days if needed)

also i've read some people saying to stay with a low rep range/heavy weight will burn more calories while dieting, than high rep range/light weight. any ideas on which would be better for me since i want to hold on to my mass while burning fat??? my supp/meal plan is here http://forum.animalpak.com/showthread.php?t=17054 just for reference.

i dont see any reason you couldnt gain mass while losing fat just eat leaner foods stay with a low rep heavy weight program and do cardio like your life depended on it before summer i usually play basketball for cardio than after 3-4 pickup games i will run 15 suicides. if that doesnt cut tha fat off i dont know what will

damn as long as i've been playing never even thought of doing that... also i was thinking about doing like some ply-ometric/agility work outs that i found on another website on one or two of the days i do cardio then just hit the stair climber or the bike to finish it off... thanx for the idea i will defiantly use it

since u play basketball which is a pretty explosive sport as far as needing quick bursts of speed i would definately do some plyos i would also invest in a speed parachute i use sparqs it took 3 tenths of a sec off my 40 time
