wondering if anyone can shed a little light. i was doing a little reading at the westside barbell and read a few things about it in here regarding chains and boards for your bench as well as floor presses. what are these things and how do they help you? i assume maybe i shouldnt, that a floor press is bench on the floor?

chains and boards are used for accomidations and on two seperate days in the westside scheme. the chains are used on speed days when only a percentage of ur 1RM is used. They help by adding weight as the bar leaves the chest which equals speed, and speed equals power. the boards are used to help with the different ranges of the bench motion, anywhere from 2 - 6 boards are used to hit different parts. usually with boards you would use a heavier weight than before. i would give them a try, i have had sucess with these methods along with a lot of people

that is exactly what a floor press is. i usually do them off of the hooks for the bar on the front of a powerrack.

Boards are used a lot with powerlifters who are trying to work on their tricep lockout strength. It helps a lot once you get the weight off your chest, your triceps come into play and you're strong enough to fully lockout the weight. Chains are used for people who want to break through their sticking point on bench. It helps with exploding weight off your chest.
