Whats up guys.

Everyone comes from all different walks of life and styles of training... What's the consensus these days... Westside, Metal Militia, 3x3, Russian volume, DC?

I use Joe Defranco's Westside for Skinny Bastards.

What about you guys??

Straight West Side. I trained my bench days using a metal militia style and it just wasn't good for me while trying to also do the ME and DE lower days. I add in a few short extra sessions per week like Louie recommends as well. 2 and a half years and I haven't hit a plateau yet.

Westside-olympic lifting clusterfuck. Low volume like what Ox Mason does but the same principals as Adam Nelson and Travis Mash.

Modified Westside. Mon and Wed are upper and lower ME. Fri and Sun are upper and lower speed days. I say modified only because I train back and rear delts twice a week. Either on tuesday, thurseday, or saturday. One day is heavy rows, the other is more pull downs and chin. Alot of people say its too much work, but its been a year and my personal best continue to rise. Plus, and I know this is cliche, I just like lifting and being in the gym. Lifting 3 and 4 days a week, well its just not enough for me.

When not training for a meet:

-ME/DE Sq/Dl days

-Fairly standard ME Bench days, but no DE bench work, subsitute shoulder press for Speed Bench

When training for a meet:

-Bench: Jesse Kellum style with a twist of MM

-Sq/Dl- DE days with Jesse Kellum style suit training.

Just got off of a Mentzer style HIT routine I was using to gain size, although now I'm interested in training for competitions, so I'm doing Westside now, with elements of High Intensity tossed in for good measure. I like to incorporate some DC style too by utilizing rest-pause on my support movements. Kind of like to think I got the best of all the worlds in there. I would only train every 3 or 4 days with the HIT routine, but now I'm hitting the gym 3-4 days per week with Westside.

I've been doing a 2 day split, 5x5, on a 4-day rotation. For the Transformation contest, I'm switching to G's 4-day split across a week.

Plus lots o' cardio.

For about the last three months I have been doing westside and if I keep seeing gains like I have been I may never train any other way

I did Westside for several months, and never hit plateaus. I'm doing a specialized strongman training schedule right now, three lifting days - DLs/back/abs, Presses/Biceps/abs/forearms, and Squats. One day is event training, usually on Saturdays.
Cardio 3-4 times a week, two sessions are solid state 45-60 minutes, one session is 20 minutes with 4-5 one minute sprints, one session is 30 minutes between 60-70% max heart rate.

Been doin Westside for about 3 weeks now. I basicaly gave up on linear training. I work in a stone yard so doin that for 10 hours and lifting at night was killing me. I'm getting great results with westside. Worth the price i paid for those freakin dvd's.

I just moved 3 tons of rock a couple of weekends ago. Enjoy your job, it would kill me I think :)

I am doing a mixture of sorts.

ME SQ
ME Bench
Deadlift Day
Military/Upper Assistance Day

I use Westside principles on the SQ/Bench days. My Deadlift day is either a DL variation or DE Squats and Pulls. Depends on the week. I dont do DE Upper work becuase my connective tissue in my elbows and forearms feel like they are going to rip of the bone due to tendonitis, LOL.

Find what works, make a plan, and work the plan.
