Hey there everyone,
I just signed up to the forum so I wanted to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Kyla McGrath from Newdfoundland and my brother is Frank McGrath. I hope you guys have checked out his videos. They are crazy. Some hard core old school training. He really is "animal".

Watching Frank compete inspired me to start training and compete in "Figure" I placed 6th out of 30 girls in my class at teh 2005 North Americans, and 5th out of 20 in my class at the 2006 Canadians. I also just got 5th in the "World's Fittest Model" contest held by Hard Body entertainment in Vegas at teh Expo of the 2006 Olympia. If you buy a copy of this years Olympia you will see a section of my show on the DVD of the expo. Check it out. Anyway, you guys can also check out some of my pics at www.myspace.com/kylamcgrath

PS Love the forum!

Don't like talking about myself much, but here's some info. I've been bodybuilding for about 5 years, seriously for about 2. I started out with a bench press and some weights, and fucking whoppers to eat, back when they were on a special for $1 each. I used to buy about 8 at a time and eat them throughout the day. What a way to start. I was a scrawny kid growing up, thin as a stick. Fucking whoppers, bench pressing, and military press blew me up to about 220, when I joined the Army in January of 2004. Got out of basic training at about 180-185. Lightest weight I've ever been since I started on this glorious road. Just finished my contract with the Army now, and I'm about 238, at 5'11". No idea on bodyfat, can't even think of that right now, since I'm focusing on growing again. Got no plans for competition anytime soon. When I come in, I want to be that guy that shows up and people just ask themselves, "Where the fuck did this Animal come from?!" Right now I'm living in a fucking closet, with my older brother in the main bedroom. This room is fucking cramped brothers, I can touch both walls, but it's home now, and it's MY room, and I love it. Got a 24 hour gym just down the road. Ladera Ranch, California is home to me now. Day job is working as an electrician. What else you want to know? Peace out brothers.

My name is Beast, at least that's what is inked in my skin. I am now cutting for a bodybuilding competition but I am also a powerlifter. I've competed for the past 6 years and love it. The feel of cold steel in my hands and sweat and blood pouring out of my forehead. My daughter keeps me driving forward and my family and friends help support me. It's an honor to be part of this monstrous forum. Brotherhood Of Iron For Life.

Powerlifting competitor from Nazareth Barbell, mainly bench specialist at this time, 181 lbs weight class, 405 bench/425 deadlift and looking to hit bigger numbers soon.

I spent 6 years in the Army, then packed on a lot of weight from having 2 kids back to back and battled with ovarian cancer. I started lifting in 2000 to lose bodyfat as I weighed 240 at 5'4". I have been in remission since 1999 and now stronger than ever. I started powerlifting in 2003 and it has become a lifestyle. Thanks to the sport, I met a strong, sexy, wonderful powerlifter named Bobby who stole my heart and now shares the lifestyle with me. My goals are to take the bench record in my weight class and eventually hit 500, then go full power.

Hey People,

That's how you need to train and that's how you need to eat. It's taken me 13-ish years (on and off, sadly) to clock on to this...but hell, it's better late than never. I train with freeweights at home (London, UK) and use good old-fashioned walking and jogging for cardio (I just cannot handle cardio machines...but that's just me). I'm not training for mass yet...still trying to shed superfluous bodyfat: something else that it's also taken me a while to realise is that you cannot hope to do two things both simultaneously and effectively. Hence I'm trying to lean up before handling Serious Iron. Because my training in the past was neither smart nor consistent, there ain't exactly much to show.

But that's gonna change. Animalpak, thank you for setting this all up. Eye on the Horizon, foot to the floor.

I start back into the gym tomorrow on my "journey" I guess you could say. I'm really fired up........I'm ready to unleash my animal.

I just turned 20, 5'8" and 220lbs at about 13%. I like to experiment with workouts and diets and have okay luck so far. I have done to local PL competitions and have won one and came in 3rd in the other. Since then I have made some significant lift improvements. I lift raw and i think gear and fucked up back bending technique is cheating. Lifts should made with brute force.

Bench-400lbs X 1 with strict form
Dead -been doing 5x5's with 405 so i dunno
Squat-500 legit ass to grass style

Hey all.

I'm The Kid, just moved to Nashville, TN, from Boston, MA.

Got into this stuff because my fiancee broke things off and I needed a distraction. Stayed in because I couldn't stop. I guess that sorta happens, huh?

For now, I live in Nashville, TN, and I'm trying to grab a job in marketing with a record label or a sports team. In the meantime, I'm trying to get control of my body and mind back after a few months away due to a pretty bad injury. I'll bring that issue to another post. I'll need help from anyone who cares to offer advice.

Glad to be here. To be back. To remember what it is to be an animal.

Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm 18 and a senior in high school. Growin up I was chunky and out of shape. After a few years on the rowing team and introducing myself with animalpak.com, my life has changed. I picked up the weights and now i'm a little over 2 weeks into preperation for my first bodybuilding show. Things are going well, though to any of you guys that have tried to do this during school, you know how difficult it gets. I'm here to listen, learn, and voice my humble opinion now and then. Good luck and train hard guys.

22 year old powerlifter checking in. Hoping to total 1800+ at my next meet in a couple of months. Sitting around 300lbs right now but I'll be changing that real soon.

Although my main goal is to lift really heavy shit, whenever I go through a volume training period or need some good reading material I always come to the site so I figured the forum would kick ass as well. Good stuff.

konichiwa, lifters! Glad to be here in the animal forum. I guess I'll introduce myself. I'm a 23 year old professional martial arts instructor. I've been into the iron game about 2 1/2 years now, currently my best lifts are 215lbs bench, 285lbs parallel squat(yes, I go parallel and sometimes deeper), and a 335lbs deadlift. I got into lifting as way to improve my physique and make me stronger for martial arts. I got big into reading muscle mags and lifting like a body builder. After about 7 months of not really seeing much progress, I shifted my emphasis to a more powerlifter type regimen, 3 days, working 5x5 mostly. To me, I belive lifting was and always should be, first and foremost, about being ridiculously strong. Huge muscles are useless without also being able to push some serious pounds. I'm interested about achieving strength at the levels of the old-timers, the pre-steroid days, men like arthur saxon and the people who could one-arm snatch 500 pound dumbells at a bodyweight of 190lbs.

So, look forward to communication with anyone who I can learn from, teach something to, maybe find a new gym partner since mine just left for college. Peace.

Sup everyone,
Ive been a follower of The Animal for about 4 years now. Last winter I tore my Achilies tendon on Dec. 26. It was the worst pain and worst rehab of my life. I went from 180lbs of pretty lean muscle to a sickning 210lbs of nothing pretty quick. As soon as I could walk I was back into the gym and always wanted a place to say Thanks to this place and all the other followers out there.
Today, a little over 1yr since the injury and only 8 mos after the injury, I have surpassed my wildest dreams and am on the verge of breaking the 300club in bench. To most of you that isnt much, but after my injury I was barely able to rep 185(my previous body weight) 3-4 times.
In 2 weeks I will finally break through my dreams and WILL get my 300.

Long live the Animal and the believers like us!

Hey muscleheads:

Its good to see a new forum springing up, already healthy and full of inquiring minds.

I'm 24, a solid light-heavy fighter, currently cutting down for a tournament on Feb 17 (hoping to shave another 5 lbs or so). I mostly train PL to supplement my fighting, although I also do a fair bit of metabolic circuits to help my wind instead of cardio.

Good to be here.

I got into body building a little more than a year ago and try to keep myself in the gym six days a week. I am by no means an expert, but everyone has to start somewhere. I follow the Wrath's blog and enjoy seeing the progress he makes to his final journey.

Hey guys,

I'm 22 and half way through my 4th year of studying for a degree in computer science here in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I started playing American Football at the same time as I started my course, and in mid 2005 I joined the Irish national team. At 5'10" and 150lbs I'm one of the smallest players.

I started seriously into lifting about a year ago and have noticed not only great strength gains, but the lifestyle has improved me in all aspects of life, physically and mentally.

I've read a few of the introductions in this thread and am glad to see so many people similar to me. I look forward to being a part of this community.

Hey guys. My name is Jeff. I've been lifting since I was 12, and got serious about it about four years ago, and have gotten really serious about it in the last two years. Not a competitor, never will be. Just a guy who likes to be big and live healthy.

I'm a helicopter flight mechanic in the USCG stationed in Port Angeles, WA. Stationed in Kodiak before here....can't wait to get back to AK!

When I'm not at work or the gym, I'm flyfishing or hunting. 'Bout sums me up. Nothin' special.

Crash
01-15-07, 11:43 pm
They call me Crash, because I am crazy, reckless and generally don't give a damn what anyone else thinks. I am 5'9 and 195 lbs. I Lift because I can. I lift because I made some poor choices when I was younger, and now I am to reap what I've sown. I lift, because when I get in the gym, it's just me and the weights. No spotters, no belts, no straps or wraps. Either I lift that shit, or I dump it. I lift, because the blood rushing to my head, drowns out the voices. I lift, to become more than I am.

Gentlemen,
Today is an new day. Today is a day of hard work and determination. That is why I start each and every day with my paks. I am a student in Detroit and I have just began my journey with Animal paks. and trust me I will never turn back. I have seen my body changing each and every day. I train at the university gym where I am looked at as being different because of the weight I am pushing. There aren't many big guys at my gym so I am definetaly looked at like an outsider, but I am fine with that. They are just not able to understand what an animal does in the trenches. Glad to be part of this new forum and I can't wait to hear from everyone out there.

I come from a little town in the coal regions where life revolves around hard work. My old man worked in the mines for a good part of his life while holding numerous other jobs at the same time. He never went to college but he married a great lady and provided a great life for my sister and I. He's my motivation and the kind of person i want to be. Im 19, a biochemistry major and working towards med school. All my life ive been told i was too small... by my football coach, friends.. you name it. at 5'5", maybe i am. No one in my family is tall, but we're all determined. My sister is a 5'1" senior in HS and is about to break the all-time scoring record. Nothing stands in our way.....Me, im 5'5" and 155 pounds and only getting bigger. My bench, 325lbs... not heavy enough.. my squat, 485... WEAK. I will never reach my goals because I've set them too high, and thats ok with me. It'll keep the fire inside buring forever. I'm working toward my first bodybuilding competition, and it's been long hard road. Around this area, no one competes and competitions are far and few between. the only competition ive entered was a powerlifting competition and took a 2nd my freshman year of highschool, two months after I tore my meniscus and cracked my knee cap in half.
Thats my story.

My name is Brett and I am from Nebraska. I started lifting about 2 years ago to prove to someone that you could "get big" without taking roids. And also I needed something to fill in my extra time between college and work. What better way than to lift weights and improve yourself. I was hooked ever since. The first year was great. i gained about 30lbs. (of course not all muscle). But lately I have been in a rut. Thanks to ANIMALPAK.COM, it gives me motivation to stict out the tough times and keep pressing forward.

The name is Jester... really. I reside in Maryland although I have not been in this game long, I am looking forward to the grueling years it will take to get bigger. At the age of 19 I started seriously lifting and a year later I am still in this, and standing strong. I love this stuff, its the only thing that keeps me sane. I got in this game after being singled out by many as being the "skinny kid" so I decided that was in and laid down the laws and since then I have dedicated my heart to this sport...

I've always been a big dude. I've been lifting for over 8 years now. 4 of them were for High School sports, recently, about a year ago, I got serious about my image. I go 275, but I've been as big as 340. I'm trying to get down to 220, but keep the strength I still have. I've never competed, I got in the brotherhood of iron for self gratification. I've been at 275 for about 7 months now, and I just can't seem to budge either way. My strenght has stayed the same, but I just can't cut any more off yet.

I've tried everything. Changed my diet, cardio, workout, nothing seems to help. Any help?

Squat: 475

Little about me huh?

I'm a 19 year old student, living in an apartment making the worst pay of my life right now and loving every minute of it... because I've never had the kind of gains I'm having now. I don't know what exactly it is that's doing it, maybe the fact I'm supplying my own food, it could be that I'm finally getting my head straight, or just that I'm dialed in and hitting it hard. whatever it is, it's doing wonders.

a little back round on myself, I started lifting in my freshman year of HS for football. I weighed about 200lbs and had very little muscle. Through the years I upped my weight to about 260lbs at around 28% body fat while playing center and D-Tackle. After I dislocated my shoulder and football was over for me I started focusing in on weightlifting as a lifestyle and I've been hooked ever since. my current stats are in my signature (hopefully it shows up)

That's just a bit about me, you can always PM me if you wanna know more.
-Dave

Hi, brothers.
I'm 24 years old, 185cm and 101kg, and I'm in this game for four years now.. Have some problems with my knees, one operation and so on...
I can't buy Animal products in my country. So, from time to time, I bought them in some other countries.. Great products, worth every buck..
It's nice to see Animal forum....

Hello from the great state of South Carolina. I'm a police officer and former Marine. I have been training for about five years, but never seriously until last year. Unfortunatley I herniated a disk in my lower back and have been down for the last six months. Looking forward to continuing the march now. Great to be a part of this and hope I can learn something.

Damn there are a lot of Animals in here!

I am Da Wolfman, residing in the great Pacific Northwest. Spent 5 years in the Navy were I won my first and only contest. (Thats were I got my nickname too....Its hard to shave down livin' on a boat...Won a Navy sponsored contest lookin' like Sasquatch...Damn I was a FREAKIN mess).

Got married to my Hawaiian Princess after the Navy, built 3 beautiful daughters, and had not lifted seriously since I left the NAVY.

Then one day a few months ago, I saw my 6 yr. old talkin' to a boy outside, and I realized...I used to be that boy...I know what that boy is gonna be up to in a few years....

My Response....FUCK IT! TIMES A WASTIN'. MY DAUGHTERS FIRST BOYFRIEND WILL BE INTRODUCED TO THE BIG BAD WOLF...AND THE FEAR ALONE WILL BE ENOUGH TO KEEP HIM STRAIGHT!

I'm 32 yrs old, and the clock ain't slowing down. The Wolf's Den is built and it is made of pure iron...

Now all thats left is to meet a few other MONSTERS; A few ANIMALS to help keep my head straight....

So nice to meet ya...see ya on the full moon!

Hey guys,

I'm 29 and have been training for about 6 years... I first started out as a little guy who weighed in at just under 10 stone.. I know crazy stuff. I was tired of people taking the piss outta me - even my old man used to give me some grief over it (obviously he didn't mean it in a bad way). Anyway I always worked out at home in the bedroom as you do when you are a teenager and didn't seem to grow. I then joined a gym and got in with the RIGHT people (as there are a lot of idiots who roll around lots of gyms talking a lot of shit, which frankly just pisses me off, especially when you hear some of the things they say, it makes you cringe!) who helped me with the MOST important thing - Diet! Anyway I decided to take it one step further and qualified as a personal trainer while still working to help me achieve my goals. It worked and I've never looked back - I train a few other guys now. What is great is that more than getting to where I want, I've had some great satisfaction helping others get to where they want to be. It's been great motivation. Seeing people realise their potential and not just us big guys - I'm talking about everyone. Even the girls ;0)

Ok well I'll shut up now and wish you all the best of luck. Stay focused, train like an Animal, eat well & sleep!

Good luck and hopefully I can get to know most of you.

Peace guys

Creed.

First got into lifting in high school and then did nothing for 10 years (work, kids, tons of excuses). Restarted in January of 2006 at 240 lbs and 36% bodyfat. Dropped 40 lbs and 18-19% body fat while training last year. Now that I have a good foundation, looking to make some big gains in size and strength. Tried several Animal products last year and have felt and seen big differences. Love the site, the manual, the packs, and the posts. I work a good 70/hrs a week, so lifting is the only "me" time I get. It helps me dump all the crap I dealt with during the day and gives me something to look forward to. I know I've only started, but I'm excited about the journey. Thanks for having me!

250 pounds now goal is 260-275
bf..i can see my abs at times...LOL
as for lifting...i can post any number here and most wont believe and most aren't true to what they post. SOme use belts, shirts, suits, and other helpful equipment. so where is the number true? i have moved 585 pounds on bench but had wraps...no shirt though. i have pulled 715 but had wraps, only pulled 500 without wraps..so it is all relevant.

to me, after ten years, i have truly earned the term freak. I lift like one, i some what look like one now finally, and some of the events i have done, truly look freakish LOL. who the hell in their right mind lifts a 312 pound boulder to only place it 58 inches high...LOL.

Squat until you puke, yea that is my goal every leg day...just ask the guys inthe gym. The fockin hate me becuase i steal the trash can and drag it around at each movement

Nice place. Lovin' it already....

Damage started about 25 years ago when my brother was an NPC bodybuilder. I used to "work-out" with him (whatever a 10 year old could do...lol); when I got old enough, I joined the local dungeon, Eiferman's, but decided to go in a different direction and went into powerlifting. Competed in the ADFPA for a several years, and retired about 9 years ago. Worked The Cage at the Olympia for last 3 years that they had it there. I still lift insanely, though not training for comp - I am now a strength & conditioning coach, and working on my Masters in Biomechanics.

Hey everybody. Just a quick intro on myself: I'm 22 and I've been training for about 3 years now. Used to be a fat tub of lard, but things are getting more and more rock hard. Still have a long way to go in this process. Abs recently started coming in, which was a HUGE milestone for me. I'm from Chicago and I'm an Biomedical Engineer when I'm not in the gym. Work unfortunately kills way too much of my time, so I find myself in the gym at 4:30am (I hate going at night because there's too many good shows on TV). That may not be a bad time for many of you, but it sucks hard for me. Anywho, I'm always looking for new information on my routine and my diet. Thanks!

Hey brothers, Names David. Live in Tulsa,OK. 29 yrs old 6'1 260lbs. Been in the game for 12 years. Started working out for wrestling and martial arts back in high school. Started to get thick and big, and the instructer told me that I needed to quit working out since I was getting to big for the moves in martial arts. But the first time I grabed that iron I was hooked for life, no stoping or looking back. Just focusing about the next day on how your going to conquer that weight to force your muscles to get stronger and bigger. Currently competing in strongmen competitions and traveling full time with the strength team doing feats of strength.

Here's a little bit about me:
NAME: Cam
NICKNAMES: The Animal...Pimp Juice...Pimp Goose
STATUS: Attached...to a very hot model with an amazing personality and I love her with all my heart
WHERE I'M FROM: White Rock, British Columbia, Canada
AGE: 17
HEIGHT: 6'3"
WEIGHT: 205lbs (should be around 220 but I screwed up my back and that slowed the training down)
BODY ART: A pair of tattoo's on my forearms...On my right forearm is "Strength" and on my left forearm is "Honour"
ATHLETIC HISTORY: 13 years of hockey, 5 years playing rugby, 1.5 years working out
A FUTURE FOR THE ANIMAL: should be playing at least junior A hockey (3 steps down from the NHL) but because of politics that ship has sailed...the either university hockey or rugby was in my sights but then I got the back injury...now it's all about bodybuilding...hope to compete in a couple years but had to push it back a bit because of the ol back.
WHAT CAN I BRING TO YOU: I've done a good share of research on weight training...I have been training a few people including guys I meet over bbing forums and people I know personally and all have shown great results...I'm not one to ask very many questions if any at all...I'd rather be giving out advice...internet arguments are fuckin stupid so if myself and somebody else has a different opinion on something fine let's agree to disagree and see who's method works out the best in the end...i'm here to learn as well as teach and I hope i'm accepted.

I just started reading this forum and I'm loving it. It's hard to find a decent forum, let alone anything on the web, that fits what I'm looking for. I dig the philosophy behind this site and forum and I'm proud to say this is the only one I'm going to be involved with.
I'm 32, live in Wisconsin, and work as a medical/surgical nurse in Minnesota. A year and a half ago I was 240 and with lifting and dieting I'm down to 185. I want to keep pushing and changing myself and thats why I'm here.

About fucking time, a RAW fucking forum, thank you brothers. Well the names Juan, born and raised here in Miami, Florida and I'm 19 yrs old. Been lifting for about 3 yrs and have been through hell. Always have been athletic and played baseball, but was always a tiny 115lbs and decided to man up and hit the iron, HARD. Started off in a friends backyard with nothing but old rusty fucking weights, not too much to choose from, but hey, they were heavy as shit and got the job done. Lifted with dedication through blazing miami heat, rain, cold, w/e the condition.

3 Yrs later im now at 175lbs and still bulking. I saved enough money so I now train at a gym near my house. I basically lift because I fucking love it, and I also love to be in shape, and its also going to help in the career im pursuing, which is a Fire Fighter/Paramedic. Well thats about it guys, if you need anything, just hit me up.

Whattup Fellas... I'm Chubbs (6'1" 236lbs) from Southern California. I'm 22 and stoked about my new passion that is bodybuilding. Baseball was my first love, but certain circumstances have taken that away from me. I was lost with no real direction in my life then I joined a gym, started moving iron, and became infatuated with the PUMP! I bought the Animal Pak out of curiosity (The affordability was also key), and i haven't looked back since. The articles on this site have inspired me in the gym and in life. I used to play ball with the same "no bullshit" approach you guys have towards bodybuilding and powerlifting, and i can't wait to see the "no b.s." haven this forum is going to be. Animal.... Fo Life..

Lets see yall wanna hear my story. It isn't much, but it's mine so here we go. I started liftin' in jr high, just a little to stay in shape. Then in high school I got bitten. I had to lift every day, so I joined power lifting, to have guidance. After all I was a newbe I needed a guru. It made me whole, without the gym I wasn't me. My jr year in high school they said power lifting was a sport I still lifted everychance I had. I couldnt stop. Then at 17, my llung collapsed. I went from 175 to 113 in about 2 months. I was hospitalized for a while ICU PCU I lived there.
They said no more gym and that my dream of being a soldier would never happen. Now I have 4 years in the Army am a Sergeant, and weigh in just under 200. My goal is 230. I know it'll happen with the Animal by my side. I train I eat I sleep I work. My day isnt through till I hit the gym. I'm back in Iraq but hey. This place makes it real. Here the gym is my life, without it I'm crazyier than normal.

Fellas,
I'm Will and I'm a student at the University of Colorado. I got into lifting hard after being the skinny kid through high school (by skinny, I mean about 110 lbs. my freshman year....yeah, pretty bad). After killing myself in the weight room for the last 8 months, I've managed to put on about 35 lbs. and am sitting at about 5'9", 175. Just starting to cut a little, I want to get to about 170 with about 9% body fat. And then we'll bulk all over again, haha.

Living in a place where excess is a lifestyle, I'm glad that lifting is my only addiction.
It's good to find others who feel the same way.

Whats up? New here...The name's Ryan I live in KY and train in my basement/ the gym I work at. I am training to become a firefighter, so my lifting is going towards a greater goal...I am more involved in powerlifting than I am body building, but both share the common love of iron so I am interested in learning as much as I can about both. I have atlas stones at my house going from 220-375lbs and a 600 lb tire, those are the only implements that I have now, I would love to get more soon....Well I look foward to learning as much as I can from all of you on the site.

Keep thoses plates movin'!

Big whats up to my true brothers and sisters. My name is Chris and I'm 22 years old. I've always been in great shape from playing competitive soccer for 18 years, but I've also payed the price. Anyone who says soccer is for pussies has never played at a high enough level. I've played with broken bones in my feet, torn ligaments, muscle tears, concussions, etc. All those years of sucking it up have come back and kicked my ass so bad I can't play anymore.
I first got into lifting in 2003 when my friend told me to go to a new gym that had just opened. I've been on and off since then but never truely knew what I was doing. Only recently, since finding animalpak.com actually, have I been bit with the BBing bug. My focus right now is to fix all the problems I have from soccer and not having good lifting programs. Once thats done it'll be back to getting big.
When I'm not in the gym I'm at school for Fitness and Health promotion, or at work for Canada Customs. Other than working out I'm also interested in cars, motorcycles and the girlies.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everybody here.

Stay strong,
Chris

Eh!
I am pumped about this forum!
There is so much bull shit out there and crapy advice, products and forums. Thank God the "Pak" finally has entered the frey! I have been a loyal user for sometime and keep my training/diet simple. Life is full of enough crap without gettin bogged down with some complex eating and exercising program.
I have been training now for about 2 years seriously. Last year was my first competition year, started late-39, placed 6th in light heavies. I have added about 5lbs of meat and am just starting my diet for this year. Looking forward to a much better placing.
Once again, thanks to the Pak for making this happen.
cheers

Hey bro's,

Im 19, 6'1 and 195lbs (88kg) currently. Started training at 6'1, 145lbs (65kg) about 2 years ago. Did what everyone did when they begun, fucked around in the gym and ate like a little girl. When i realised that the eating side is just as important as the weights, i took a new approach, and started to see results. Now im hooked. Im glad i found animalpak.com as it really inspires me to push on further. The paks are top notch, and just what i need to keep me focused and in top shape.

Keep training hard,

Hey...

I'm a senior at University of Washington in Seattle. I been lifting and training for almost 4 years now.

In high school I was real fat. I was about 215 pounds and 5'11". I dropped all the way to 160 right before college, then started lifting and training. I'm about 180 now and still gaining.

Working out is the only thing i feel like I do for myself. Everything else in my life I am doing for others. Working out is the only thing I am doing that I enjoy. I love everything about it. And I sure as hell hope that a lot of you guys love it as much as I do.

I visit wannabebigforums.com for working out stuff as well, but after awhile the posts were the same. It was always the same questions asked by new people and the older people trying their best to answer them. I felt like I exhausted those forums... I hope these forums are a lot better.

Sup Fellas, I'm Pheonix and I use to be the skinniest mutha around. My life was one big party with a few weak little daulight hours. Women use to walk over me and guys use to push me around. I was lower than low. I started Bodybuilding 1 year ago because I got tired of not having any discipline, any focus, any drive. Now I'm a fuckin' Animal baby!!! Guys that use to laugh at me are too shit scared to train with me. I bury those fools. Shoulder firmly on the wheel, I drive past those posers!!! Started off at 143 pounds (see what I mean't) and I'm currently sitting on 185 pounds with about 11% b/f. I'm about 1.72m and my goal is to hit 200 pounds before October. I want to compete in December.

I look forward to chewing iron with all of you - finally I'm at home!!!

Hey guys, I'm Tim from the Philippines. I started working out 2002 but I had a shoulder injury in July 2004. I dislocated my right shoulder and tore my rotator cuff muscles while doing seated DB shoulder presses. I went through several therapy sessions and a hormone shot, but the feeling on my right shoulder hasn't been the same since the injury. So I quit going to gym. I went from 190 lbs to 146 lbs, and lost all my bulk. This January, I started lifting again. I probably won't be able to lift as much, but my target weight is around 165.

Hope to learn a lot from you guys. Cheers!

Ahh.. feels like home here.

You can call me "IRONCOLE"

I have only been in the game for about a year seriously but have had it on my mind from the time I was a little boy. From scanning through the magazines and looking at the Old school Pros to the cheap ass plastic wrapped slabs of concrete on a hollow steel bar that we all had as kids. You know what I'm talking about. But ya know what! A pound is still a pound no matter what form it is in.

Well today is a new day and times have changed and will ever be changing.
I am on my on Journey to the only thing in life that is permanent and that is change fellas. Like it or not, thats just how it is.

I will continue to feel welcome here as long as you will all have me. That being said, I think I will kick of my boots and stay a while. Thanks!

Not big on introductions. Not the type to talk much about myself. Generally gauge people on how they act, not what they say. In the service for eight years, knew a couple people who's life revolved around lifting, liked their attitude, that's why I'm here. Didn't differ much from this web site. Got shot in '89, after I separated, lost 40 lbs, got a bum left leg out of it. Shot with a hollow point. Diced up my insides to the point the doctor said, "Normal people don't make it through something like this." Was told my size from lifting may have slowed the bullet down a bit. May have been my attitude, too. When I was shot, said, "This is stupid getting shot over money. I'm not going to let something like this take me away." Leg's a major hassle sometimes. Bad circulation (deep vein thrombosis/blood clot), nerve damage, but I've got a friend who ran his Harley into a fire hydrant who doesn't have one of his legs, but he has phantom limb pain. Rather have a leg that's a major hassle, than not have one, but my body thinks its still there.
Guess I'll talk about things I've been through as an introduction, so my mentallity will be understood a bit better.

Started out in this game standing 5'9, and weighing in at 263lbs.

One year later, I'm standing 5'10, and weighing in at 172.

Like you guys say, it doesn't matter if your bench pressing 700lbs or 135, it's all in how you look. Couldn't agree more.

Everything started 5 years ago, my parents gave me the New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding by Schwarzenegger. Since this day when I started at 5foot 8 at a very very lean 140 pounds, I worked out to get to 5 foot 10, 200 pounds with low fat. I think everyone goal should be the main stage at the olympia. Am I right??? only future will tell me

Nice to finally found a place where I'm not the only one serious about this business!!

Didn't have the opportunity to lift for 2 1/2 years, but my desire and drive is stronger than ever. The motivation I get from you and the articles found herein is awesome. It makes me want to go into the gym and sling weight around I never thought possible. The bigger and heavier the weight, the bigger my intensity level becomes. I look forward to expanding my knowledge of the game as well as the size of my muscular frame.

What's up fellas, introducing myself to you all. I am 26, 209 lbs and probably a little more fat on me than i'd like...but that is why we do what we do. I got into serious lifting about 2 yrs ago, hit it hard then backed off for a while...big mistake. I currently work in a hospital, but am studying to get my CSCS to work with up and coming athletes. Max for squat is 415, improving, 265 for bench, sprained a labrum a few yrs back and that has biggest pain in my training for my chest, deads are around 265, never done them much, but getting into them more and more. train hard fellas, keep climbing that mountain!

Hey boys (and some girls!)

Been a Fitness & Figure athlete for some time. Going for BodyBuilding now. Can't stand being so small...Always admired more muscle, so now i'm on my way. I am a Personal Trainer, a Fit/Fig Contest Prep Coach, and on my way to finishing testing for an NPC Judge. Been in the industry for around 10 years and dig it. Got a Pro Fitness Sister, training with an IFBB BB'ing Pro, and work for the best suit maker in the field, Merry Christine. I love this business, no matter how tough it is. Not always so pretty backstage...but once you get up there...all that stuff goes away. I was born to be up there!

Hey brothers, this is Nick Blume. I'm from Valentine, NE. The official heart city. Runnin about 280 right now hoping to cut to 250. I am way to smooth. Work at a small public gym run by a couple of cops. Two of the most motivating sons a bitches I know. I coach football at the highschool during the fall. I am hoping I can convince more and more our players to pick up our philosophy. They just don't understand that to be an animal, an athlete, there is no easy path too glory. I see a lot of natural talent go to waste because kids don't have the will or the drive to make themselves even better.

Whats up everyone?

I'm Tim from San Jose, CA. My life was changed one day as I was walking past a magazine rack and saw then newly crowned Mr.O Ronnie Coleman on a Flex. I peeled it open and couldn't believe what I was seeing. All I knew was that I wanted to look like that one day. I started out lifting with the football team, but wasn't much of an athlete. I liked the lifting aspect and stuck with that via a powerlifting course during my last two years of high school. I felt like I was getting over on the school. I had 45 minutes to train 5 days a week in a room that was full of basic free weights and no bullshit. I earned credits to lift weights!

I started out at 5'11" 155lbs my freshman year. I graduated 50lbs heavier with less fat. That was June 2004.

Since then I've been under construction. I've made mistakes and seen plenty of failure, but thats all priceless experience from my point of view. I'll step on stage one day, but that day will not be sooner than when I'm satisfied that I've put in the time and effort to make more than a few jaws drop.

Brothers, IM BACK, and its good to be home. I took some time off to get things straightened out, and Im back in the Gym and visiting this site daily. I was gone for about 9 months and it was killing me. Now im going through the humbling expierence of getting back into the swing of things, being unGodly sore, and VERY VERY WEAK. Not to mention a loss of 15lbs of muscle and a gain of 10 lbs of fat. I know its going to take 18 months o get back those 9 but im ready for every sweet dripping, muscle tearing second. As i said its good to be home and I look forward to sharing ideas with all of you.

Till then..

What's up fellas. My name is Corey and I live in Alabama. I am 16 years old and I have been lifting since this past summer. So far I have jumped from around 130lbs. to a steady weight of 145lbs. I haven't lifted since the end of last semester, but my maxes were Bench: jumped from 150lbs. to 175lbs on my 3rd set not including the warmup; Squat: 300lbs even; and Cleans: from 160lbs to 175lbs. THe main reason tha I am here is to bulk up and be freakin massive. I am only 5'7". I just want to look intimidating as hell to all of the "normal" people. I have been waiting for this forum for a long time!! It only made this site that much more freakin awesome!

What's up everybody? It fuckin rules that the boys behind Animal made a forumn. Anyway, I am fairly new to the iron game, been at it for about a year and a 3 months now. It all started with my ex girlfriend nagging me to go the gym to do some cardio and such to lose some weight and as part of that I started a minor full body lifting routine. I hated the whole experience for the first couple weeks but then I began to realize that I loved the lifting part of it. After that I started digging into all the info I could about lifting and found my way quickly to bodybuilding which in that short time has truly become a part of me. Since last Feb. I have lost 56 pounds and gained a decent amount of muscle. I am now into contest prep phase for my first contest. And you know what? That girlfriend is gone but the iron remains. Amen brothers.

hey guys im kyle and im 17. first of all, i am on this website everyday looking for updates in articles and journey. and it really keeps me going, so thanks for the motivation.

well, i started lifting a year ago, and im not amazingly strong, but then again thats not the name of the game. i have put on a lot of muscle, and the motivation i get from this website is to thank. i havent really had a dedicated lifting buddy, because everytime i get a new one, they quit on me because i train "too hard", or "they're sore" after we lift, and they dont like it. so i say screw em, because how else are we supposed to achieve goals, besides working our asses off? i guess i just havent really found the right people to workout with.

what got me into this sport is the fact that i love moving iron. when i started lifting, i thought it was shitty because i wasnt too strong. but when i started hitting the weights everyday and with intelligence, i started making mass gains in size. so it all developed naturally from 'lifting' to LIFTING. and the fact that arnold has been one of the few people ive looked up to since i remember.

so thats pretty much what got me into the sport.

g diesel's article called "Eat Like A Man" is a huge motivation to me too because i love to eat real food.

i was a real overweight kid, and thank God i found the gym because im not sure how terrible my body would look right now.

Well, lets see. I've been lifting since I was about 14 years old. I am currently 20 years old and attending Montana State University. Juggling school is hard with lifting but school work can be done late at night. Lifting comes first. I started my lifting career about 1 year 1.5 years ago. It started freshman year of college. I went from 5'11" 235 lbs. to 280 lbs. with somewhere around 22% body fat. April 1st, 2005 I changed my life forever. I am currently sitting at about 235 with 14.5% body fat. I am shooting to be 220 and 11% body fat by summer. I've been looking forward to this forum since the first announcement and I hope there will be some mutual help traded here.

My lifts:
Bench: 325lbs.
Squat: 480lbs.
Deadlift: 525 lbs.

Whatsup brothers, I'm 22 and getting a film degree from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. I'm by no means big yet, I've only been pushing iron for about a year but the switch from smoking to this has been the best decision I've ever made. Like going from coach to first class, unreal. I'm gradually starting to tackle it with more confidence, seriousness, and dedication, and I'm discovering mental AND physical strengths I never even knew I had.

I don't know yet if I have what it takes to get sliced and diced, but at the end of the day, every day, at least I'm going, and that's something I take pride in. I hope I'll be able to bounce around some positive thoughts and words with everyone. Be talking to all of you very soon.

My name is Dzintars and I live in Sigulda, Latvia. Currently trying to recover from my shoulder injury. When I first started lifting I was 18 years old and weighed only 58kg or approximately 128lbs. Now I'm 23 weighing at 77kg or 170lbs. I've always trained hard and intense to put on a couple pounds of muscle. I've learned a lot from animalpak.com. I am still here to learn and I'll be glad to share my knowledge as well.

What's up Dawg! My name is Carlos, 29yrs, friends call me LoS, in Southern FL. I'm a noob to the game, been training since last September '06. I used to lift back in high school, but that was over 10yrs ago. I'm back in this for the pain, pride, selfishness, and to prove to everyone who has doubted me before that I can start and finish something. I'm not in this to compete, I'm in this to better my self, better my health, and better my pride. Some say I'm selfish when it comes to this game, other's say I'm a beast. I say they're full of shit. It's all about consistency, determination, and motivation. I've been dragged down too many a times for listening to others. This time around, I stopped caring, I got my music blaring in my ears and can't hear shit you're saying to me. See you later in the gym...

Hi just an intro, i am Pedro from Manchester, England.
I am 31 and 200lbs just startin out serious lifting after quitting boxing due to head injury. i am used to the discipline, looking after myself and throwing head first into a goal so next short term is 220 solid by May.
I am currently trying to gain size and eating... trying to get about 5k cals a day in, shit loads of water, 1 to 1.5gram of protein per lbm, good carbs and fats.
I train 3/4 days split by 1)Chest & Back 2) Legs 3) Shoulders & Arms
Im doing bench, deads and squats as the core of my routine, all free weights no machines at all.
doing low volumes 3 sets per exercise, low but very intense
not really got any numbers to put yet (as they are so low) but i increase my lifts every time, with good form so i will get there..!
SO, hope i have the basics right, looking forward to growing and learning with you people.

I hit the gym every morning except 1 at 3:30 am and am in there for at least an hour to an hour and a half. I like it at that time there is no one in there to interupt you and you can get shit done without having to wait on some idiot reading the paper on the equipment during their 3-4 minutes between sets. Look forward to hearing from and learning from what everyone has to say. Later.

Just dropping in to introduce myself...

I`m 35 and from Nottingham,England. As well as being a lifter,I`m a big Ice Hockey fan and my team is Nottingham Panthers who play in the top league here in the UK.

First lifted weights when i was 18 for a year or so but then packed up after i broke a leg.
Started lifting again about 4 years ago but only really got my shit together with proper routines and better food consumption about 2 years ago!

I`m 100% natural and as such I lift to suit my recovery abilities.I`m currently on a 2 day a week routine:

WORKOUT 1

Squats 5x5
Barbell Bench Press 5x5
Barbell Rows 4x6
Barbell Curls 4x6

WORKOUT 2 (2 days later,i.e:Monday-Thursday)

Barbell Overhead Presses 5x5
Deadlifts or Rack Pulls 5x5
Close Grip Bench Press 4x6
Dumbell Rows 4x6

I`ve seen my strength go through the roof compared to all other 3-4 day set ups that I`d tried.

I`m currently 231 pounds and 5`9" tall.
Some of my best lifts:
Squat:330lb x 5(belt and knee wraps)
Bench:247.5lb x 6
Deadlift:360lb x 5(belt and straps)
Rack pulls(just below knee):415lb x 5(belt and straps)
Standing barbell overhead press:144lb x 5(belt)

My aims are strength and size.

Hello everyone! I want to start off by saying that the bodybuilding world has taken over my life and I love it. A body of mine got me started into lifting and I haven't stopped since. I have been training for almost 5 years now. I did my first show last year and place 4th in the open division. Now I'm getting ready for my next show this May. I am just very passionate about this sport and would like to here everyones advice and learn as much as I can.

Hey all,

Really glad this forum was created. I've spent a fair bit of time around BB.com, but looking forward to a far more mature, no-shit atmosphere around here. Love the Animalpak site itself, always a great source of info and motivation.

As for me - live in Australia, 6'3" @ 255. I've been back in to heavy weight training for just over a year now, after a longer period of lots of running/triathlon training. This is a purely personal pursuit for me.

I'll shut up now, hopefully I can contribute a fair bit and learn a whole lot more over the coming months.

I am ecstatic that this forum has been set up. I know that all of us who proceeded through the disclaimers and agreements take this sport seriously. It has been my motivator, councilor, decision maker, reflection of personal pride, and play-pen for about a year now.

I really have no idea how it happened. I just walked into the gym one day. I wanted to one up myself. I knew I wasn't lifting like the gorilla at the bench next to me. I didn't own a pair of straps. Didn't eat half as many eggs. Didn't jump out of bed at 0430 for the ol' morning lift. Didn't calculate carbs, protein, calories and such. Didn't carry a gallon of water with me every where I went. Didn't own a single compostion notebook.

Now the biggest struggle isn't pushing past that initial barrier. I'm trying to keep up the V-taper. Trying to keep my chest development even. Trying to cause the ol' biceps to grow like weeds.

My strengths: shoulders/traps, chest, tri's
My pain: legs(though I love those days), back (particularly the V-taper), and lagging bi's
Lazy point: AB's. I can do 'em all day, easy. Just haven't been.
Goal: build more outer sweep on the quads, cut up the ab's a little more,
and hook up those bi's

See you all in the forum bros!

This is Justin from the Atlanta area. Lifted a few years ago in high school, was in pretty good shape, but been slacking after graduation. 5'11-6'0 tall, 181, mostly flab, especially in my stomach area. I've always had extra weight, but I'm not screwing around anymore. My goal is to have a set of abs by summer.

Big wazzup to everyone from Moscow, Russia!

Greg here, 6'0, currently between 260-270, been lifting for something like 7 years coming from a back-ground of wrestling and football. Lived stateside in Richmond, VA between 1991 and 1997 currently in Moscow working the 9 to 6 in international fnance and bond issues for a large retail bank.

I've been browsing animalpak for the past 3 or 4 years and the no BS articles are always the thing to read when I feel like I'm slacking towards mediocrity (sp?).

My lifting weights have been allover the place throughout the years depending on body-weight and training. Currently:

Bench - 310x12
Squat - 350x12 (495x2)
Deads - 430x8

Goal? to add another 20-30lbs to my frame in the next year or so....need more thickness

Glad to have the wealth of knowledge this site provides. I am back training after 3 year hiatus. We all know life happens sometimes but I am back and ready to get big. Currently I live in Georgia and I am a Systems Engineer. The company I work for has a gym on site and I go there everyday at lunch and workout for 1.5 hours. I get strange looks from everyone especially when I walk up to bar and bust out some deads. I am 31 and I weighed in at 200 today. Currently here's my lifts:

Bench 275
Squat 405
Deadlift 455

I know its not much but its a start. My goals for this year are to GET FREAKY BIG AND STRONG.

Hey Brothers,

I live, train, and throw all my money at supplements here in Portland, Oregon - a city which only has two things going for it: one, we make great beer and two it rains here ALL the fucking time. Oh wait that's not so cool. Anyways, been a fan of this website ever since I saw an ad in Muscle & Fitness with the guy puking during a squat. I've been there.

Love the articles on here, love the intensity. No bullshit and the paks WORK. Fuckn' A.

Hello;
I am 20 years old. I am a college student in Virginia(JMU). I began lifting in high school for football and wrestling, in college it has served as an outlet for all my stress, as well as a productive use of my time. My goal is to become a big fuckin freak. I walk into the gym everyday and see all these guys trying to look like JCPenney's models, but I want to look like a Warrior! I am currently 5'11", 180-185 lbs. and I want to get up to 200 lbs. by May. I have taken a lot of inspiration and knowledge from AnimalPak.com, and now I'd like to give back as a member of this forum.

Übermensch- this is a term used by Nietzsthe, he believed the human condition needed to be mastered, or overcome and that the Übermensch was the pinacle of this struggle. To me bdybuiling is all about this struggle to be more.
I am 21 and am into my eighth year of training. Outside the gym I am completing university specialising in math and philosophy on the way to being a teacher. Currently employed at McDonalds.

I woke up one morning and it hit me like a ton if bricks, I was fat. At 6'1 280 lbs I knew I had to do something about it. I did a lot of resherch online and found some good tips and then I realized that fad diets don't work, all you really have to do is get off your ass and work at it. You can't go out and run a mile and reward yourself every night with ice cream. Well I am pleased to say I am now 220 lbs, In the best shape of my life and I have the arms and chest to prove it.

Hey Brothers- Well I'm 36,I was in the Army for 10 years. I've been lifting for 21 years as a powerlifter/bodybuilder. I go to sleep every night thinking about tomorrows workout and I wakeup thinking about the iron. Hell I plan my next torture session at work during break! There has been injuries over the years ( I was wounded twice in the Army ) and I tore my biceps last year here at home in Florida. Some said I would never be able to workout again but I'm back at it more dedicated than ever! Never give up!
