View Full Version : The Importance of Adapting to Overcome Short Problems

So, Like I've written before, I'm really lucky that I have a job that lets me eat whenever I want. But, this week and the next two weeks will be a little off. There are three branch locations (I work at a bank) in Michigan. Grosse Point, Rochester, and my regular office of Bloomfield Hills. All three have/are being renovated. Desks, chairs, cabinets, files, computers, basically everything in an office needs to be moved anywhere from 5 feet to 200 feet away, some up and down stairs. Well, I've been hired (I say that because i get overtime pay for doing this) instead of my regular job. However, I'm working with other interns and guys while doing this, and I dont get to stop to eat a full meal ever 1.5-3 hours. I get one lunch break like everyone else. Am I going batshit crazy? Miss a meal, wtf? no, im not. I planned ahead motherfuckers. Shakes. I got a cooler full of them. Granted i'd rather be taking in a solid meal, but I can make due for 3 days a week for 3 weeks. I thought i'd share with you, what I call my "Shits Hits The Fan Meal Plan"...for work.

I'm working 6-8 hour days, 7:30am to 4:30ish pm. some days, like today, i get out earily, but still like i said, one 30 minute break meal break inbetween. I've blended all these up the night before. My mom wakes up at 4 to go to work, so she's been kind enough to throw the thicker shakes (smoothie-like) in the freezer for me, and i throw them in the cooler with ice before i walk out the door.

8:00 am Shake 1:
crushed ice, water, strawberries, 1 banana, 30g strawberry protein

9:30 am Shake 2:
30g cookies and cream protein and water

11:00 am Shake 3:
Crushed ice, water, nestlie hot cocoa powder, 30g chocolate protein, 1 cup fine oats (put in coffee grinder, no chunks at all)

12:30 pm Shake 4 (taken with my solid meal lunch):
20 g cookies and cream protein and water

2:00 pm Shake 5:
Same as shake 1

4:00 pm Shake 6:
Same as shake 2

There you have it. 170 grams of protein. Not ideal, but better than starving.

ADAPT

I'm bulking/maintaining, so i can get away with this. I also have a jar of natty PB to munch on whenever i get the chance. Is it ideal to take in mostly liquids? no, not really, but what can I do?

p.s. to that last statement: don't be a smartass and say "demand to eat". I'm getting lucky enough to get paid extra and pick up more hours. The kind folks could have easily just said "do this" without any extra pay.

You have to get your protein in when you can. but it looks like IMO you are taking way to many shakes. You need to try to get animal protein in. Fish,Chicken,Beef. It has better amino acids in it then protein powder. But with your work schedule that prob fits u best just grab a shake and go. But if you get the chance I would try to switch up that protein shake for foods high in protein. Im bulking and I only take 3 shakes a day. Breakfast, Post Workout and B4 bed. all the rest is food.

No i completely agree. When I first wrote this post, i intended it on going in my "livin'" log. But i thought it would be suited better for the "diet" section.

I am all for meat. This "three day a week meal plan for only 3 weeks" is exactly how i put it...a SHTF meal plan. I can't stop to eat, but i can drink quick. Believe me, if I had the chance to sit down and get good quality food in I would, but it's temporarily out of my hands.

What I should have also included is that I have 6-8 eggs (4-6 whites, 2 whole) and oatmeal before I get to work. My lunch break is either 2 burgers or 2 chicken breasts, and as my PWO meal, I get in another meat and carb meal, as with every other time before bed.

Edit: This post was to mainly serve as an "inspirational" post, outside of the "living" section. All too often you see guys complaining if work or school makes them miss a meal (as they have the right to), this is just showing that you can adapt modify and overcome.
