It is quite amusing the looks I get from people at the gym at times. I am 5'9. 163 lbs. Some of the bigger guys in the gym get that, "what the hell is he doing" look on their faces when i load 3 plates on the bench and go to work...or when i load up 550 on the bar and start doing shrugs.

i just find it really funny because in the time i have been at this gym, these are the guys that think they are all big and bad, but have not grown an ounce in the 3 years ive been there...whereas i have put on almost 35 lbs of muscle.

I love the eyes. Let them look. It feeds me and fires me up... It reinforces how different we are from the flock. Fuck em. Let them take pictures from an advisable distance. Peace, G

The "looks" give me the motivation to lift even harder. When people stare, I see an opportunity to shut them up, in a way. I feel like when people stare, they are telling me in a way that I am not normal, or that I cant get shit done. Well, like it says in my sig, a great pleasure in life is doing things people say you cannot do. Shut the haters up and keep on pushing through. I welcome the looks.

First off, props on the mass gains. Secondly, keep training hard. Third, let'em look... ain't envy a bitch.

I love when people look at me in the gym..exspecially when youre posing infront of the mirror after a set. They just look at you in disgust like wtf is this kid doing

I completely agree with all thats being said here... now i'm probably one of the smallest guys at my gym at 145 and standin 5'6''. but i hold my own and i get looks from the biggest dudes in my gym when they see me collapsing after a set of heavy squats to dumbell chest presses. they know no matter what I am training that day I'm gonna keep at it till i am green in the face..

I love the looks too, but I also love when someone asks me what I'm doing, or comments on the weight I'm pulling or just watches. I am polite to anyone who is genuinely interested in learning the sport.

I'm with you Jawn. I don't answering a question about what I'm doing or how it's being done... Just as long as it isn't in the middle of a set.

outside of the looks, I like the snickering, especially from those who grunt and groan with 1/3 the weight. They dont get it and probably never will. The "new school" is a lost generation. Where are the guys from when I started in '88. Darn friggin shame. These kids now would have never showed up.

one of my friends that i started training last month lives 2 frigging doors down from me and he never makes work outs anymore...fuckin shame. im only 26..he is 30.

the mentality of most of society sucks. that is why we are the Elite few...Chosen...to take this lifestyle and fucking run with it. we are the ones that will survive long past anyone else when it comes down to it...we are the elite that stand out in the crowd.

be proud. stand out. embrace our superiority.

Strength and Honor.

Looks and whispers.....ton of cash in the bank if i had a dollar for each. usually i am off cycle with the rest of the gym (on purpose, of course). i'm on chest while the on-lookers are pretending to squat. stare stare whisper whisper snicker snicker. it may be because i don't own any x armor, walk around with the latest mp3, or carry my bottle of sabian springs re natured water. i have had the same lifting partner for almost 2 decades, and their playtime stops when we load up to bench what they are squatting. bang it all out, hit a most muscular, then look back at them and shrug with a poo eating grin on my face. yeah, it drives me and they have no idea how much fuel they throw onto the fire.

Looks , stares, whispers, mumbles under their breath.. yeah thats the shit that fuels my fire.

Everyday i walk in the gym, people stare at me in my cut off shirt. Shit i was walking to class today and my friend walking next to me said, " did you ever realize how many people stare at you, even the guys" are the girls checking me out, maybe, are the guys gay, nah i think they are fucking jealous pricks that dont know shit about me or my life style.

I love the looks....it's humorous when I sit doing dumbbell curls and the veins are poppin from my hands to my delts...people just stop and stare....I can see em from the corner of my eye.....I can feel em staring....poor folks...they'll never understand the life.

fuck em.. basically what I say.

I walk into the gym I put the biggest FUCK OFF look because the moment you walk into those doors it JOB #2 if you know what I mean. I'm too busy working out or thinking of my next set to bother with the onlookers, haters, etc.

i get looks on legs day, mostly. i can't fucking believe it - we got guys here who leg press 300 lbs. and are here every monday afternoon, like clockwork, for 3 years now, and haven't added weight to their presses. in that time, i've gone from starting at 450 and going to 1350. they come in on sundays (their chest day, my legs day) and snicker and point while i load up my iron and they bench 135 (again, the same as 3 years ago). i just kind of chuckle to myself and bang out my sets, laughing at them because i know that i'm getting somewhere, and they're just taking up space in my gym.

I get where u are coming from. Being the youngest at my gym no one expects much of me til i get under the squat bar and start doing 20 reps with 325. Most of the loyals at the gym do know that i can move weight but the new years rush people just think im in the way. But my fave is like you guys and do leg presses with all the 45s in the house which only totals out to about 1000lbs all around but i get 12 reps with the bitch.

i love it when they load all the plates on there, and move it only about an inch and act like they are the baddest mother fucker on the block!! lol

I couldn't have said it better than all of you guys...the looks just fire me up and make me push that much harder...Leg press by far is where the looks start coming, b/c we have an old school hack/leg press machine and I can only get 8 plates on each side and last week I threw a barbell and 25's on each side up on it so it was about 900, crushed me on the sixth one...but it was all worth it

The looks fire me up, like on my 3rd set of deads at 495lbs the people just flock the doors and heads turn in the weight room.
