Some protein powders that are practically the same, ie Whey, or isolate etc, have different effects on my body. Some i take seem to go through my body and make me spend some time on the toilet after taking them, but some others dont, even though they are both whey.
I was just wondering if there is a specific ingredient that causes this in most proteins. Could it be the lactose content that might be different, or the percentage of protein that it is?
Thanks guys

Are you lactose intolerant?
Have you tried a protein mix such as whey/casein/soy?
There are alternatives if you are actually lactose intolerant.

i havnt been diagnosed as lactose intolerant but i think i might be somewhat. When i have milk i have much more gas than normal.
Do you think it will be the lactose thats in the protein powder?
The confusing thing is, i dont get the feeling of needing to go to the toilet with milk like i do with the pro powder, so im thinking its not neccessarily down to the lactose???

So my current protein shake (not universal) must have something in it similar to the original posters, because I drink it and shortly there after it wrecks my stomach. But not all the time! Some times are worse than others. I've been taking it since February, and only here recently does it seem I've become lactose intolerant.
I do know that the last time I made my morning shake with Milk it was brutal!
So what Universal protein powder exists for those that might be lactose intolerant? I've been looking at their products, and can't seem to see the major differences between all of them (the newbie in me).
I'm not trying to gain right now, so nothing that would put weight on me for the time being. I was thinking Ultra Iso Whey as it is most similar to what I'm taking now.

Im sure this thread will get closed as we are talking about other companies, but i personally have had trouble with xxxxx, i have just switched permanantly from them now.
Im am wondering if the universal iso whey would be good to try next time?,
although what i have now has been the best iv had so far, and it is almost like coloured water, its that easy on me, is universal iso whey similar because i would change to that if it were

I would wager that it is a lactose content thing. Protein by itself usually will not cause an upset stomach (unless it is meat that has gone bad). I would take a look at the carbohydrate content.

9) Conflicts of Interest...
The Forvm is a forum run by the brothers at Animalpak.com, a website dedicated to all things Animal. Animal is more than a lifestyle... It is a way of life, a relentless pursuit of iron. Yet Animal also represents a line of supplements--a solid fucking one at that. So understand that the "Packs" section will be devoted exclusively to Animal supplements. Now if you wanna talk about other supplements in general, post in the "Supplements 101" sub-section. But like we said before, this is a forum run by Animal. So we do not want to see the promotion of our competitors or their products. You can talk about supplements generally (creatine, whey protein, NO products), but not by specific name. We don't want this community filled up with reps or shills for other companies promoting their wares. At the same time, we will not condone the bashing of other companies, stores, or anything related to this industry. There will be no condescension, no talking down or berating. Treat all members with the utmost respect. Do not undermine the Animal brand, the marketing that supports it or sabotage directly or indirectly any business enterprises related to Universal Nutrition.
