I was wondering what you brothers thought of what Christian Bale did post Machinest and pre Batman. Puttin on several stone in a matter of weeks/months
'stuffing my face all day long and lifting heavy weights'
'imagine your gp saying eat soups and salad. instead eating pizza and ice cream'
Eating until he puked and then eating some more.
Im not taking 'pizza etc instead of soups' literally but does the idea sound solid enough?

I've seen both movies and I think it's incredible. He looked like a meth head in the machinist and was shredded in batman. Got to give it up to the guy, he definitely has control over his body and knows how to gain and lose weight.
He looked great in american psycho as well.

But is it possible to achieve some of what he did but following the same sort of ideas?

As long as you pump iron and put your mind to it....you can do anything....dont let anyone tell you any different...
Does anyone else remember how he looked in American Psycho....he was jacked then too

great actor and awsome physique.
Bro you just outlined how to get big... eat and lift, is there any other way?
I just referenced some pictures from each movie to compare.
In my opinion, I think getthing that grossly skinny would've been the more chalanging part of the whole situation.
As for bulking back up, would have been relatively easy seeing as how he was amazingly skinny and starved for nutrients. Your body will always fight to reach a homostatic state of what it's used to. That combined with muscle memory and tons of money/time to each whatever he wanted I could see him doing that fairly easy.
Now if you're thinking pizza and ice cream to help you bulk up from what your current state is. Go for it, if it will work well for you. For me it has, thats just how my metabolism is.

Here's a fun read on eating to bulk up: http://abcbodybuilding.com/soyouwanttobefreaky.php
scroll down to where it says "you want to be freaky? then you got to eat freaky!"
I'm sure bulking back up wasn't too hard for Bale, as said he had muscle memory and of course I'm sure he had all the time and money in the world to lay around and train and eat like there was no tomorrow.

I don't think I'll ever forget the scene in American Psycho where he doing this two chick and flexing his bicep and watching himself in the mirror. Classic.

I agree with what your bros are saying, but Christian isnt a very small bloke if what ive seen is anything to go by, hes quite stocky/chubby. Seein him in 'The Prestige' made me realise he isnt the slightest of men out there.

There isnt any reason you cant do that..When I first started lifting about a year and a half ago I weighed 120lbs. I got to 169lbs within five months. I was eating all the time. I would also eat at a buffet at least once a day. It wasnt all quality muscle by any means, but it gave me a solid base. I wouldnt do it again now (only because I dont need that much size that fast), but for anyone that is small to begin with, I would recommend it...
