I just got myself a job at a Japanese restaurant for summer. ^^ I'm happy about it. But I want to keep eating every 3 hours in there if possible. Though the manager said that we get breaks every 4 to 3 or something, I just want to make sure that I have some tricks up my sleeve for crunch time.

Can anyone whom works in restaurants tell me how they keep there stomachs full on such a tight schedule? Any help is appreciated beyond belief ^^.

Get a good meal before your shift. As bMart said, keep some dry protein ready in shakers and bars are an option. Pre-pack your lunch or eat the in house good food. A good idea would be to try strike a deal with the restaurant to supply you with various red meat/fish and rice. Im sure they could give you a good bulk deal. Also try the Vinny route, he buys his pre cooked chicken and rice for a few days supply from a restaurant after striking a deal.

that's a damn good idea about buying from a resturant in bulk I may look into that.

eat as much as you can (if bulking) outside of work and literally be eating as you enter work and like everybody else has said have shakes already made up with you and have them ready so u are good every 2-3 hours. protein bars can work wonders as well. make shakes meals as well with protein, oats, and natty PB and of course milk!! if u get protein bars get some bars that have some real substance and have 2-3 hundred calories so it can hold u over until u get to eat again. i worked as a waiter all last summer and u can bet i had 2 shakes pre made along with eating on the way to work and my lunch and then immediately as i got outside to eat so 5 meals i had ready to go along with any protein bars i might have with me. most importantly if u want it bad enough make it work!!

I work at a restaurant, and I just bring a bag of almonds with protein in a shaker cup. I just go behind the waitress station, fill my shaker with water, and down the shake in less then a minute. I bus tables, so it is different, plus I don't work at a franchise restaurant, so I have more freedom.

Pending what you do, eat while working. I was a dish washer, and i had the cooks prepare me something, then in a lull, i would shovel down some food. Clear it with the boss, but sometimes they are cool with that.

I reccomend Finger foods if you do it. I had kalamari and chicken strips alot more then i would like to talk about, but, it worked. At a japanese steak house, you are blessed. Get some california rolls, some fish, something they suggest, and you have a high class meal.

I talked to the boss lady, I may have to explain it to her a little more, but I think she'll let me get away with some things like bars and shakes if they're quick (and thanks to practicing at school they are) so I'll just go in there for a few weeks and see what times are opportune and build a schedule around that like I did during my second period at school.

Can't wait to start ^^

I work in a fine dining steak house. I eat my 5th meal just before I go in.Then I have a shake already prepared with oatmeal and peanut butter and whey. I keep Almonds in my pocket. And I bring a meal for around 10:00. My Boss is pretty good about me eating.

If you get on the cooks good sides you can never go hungry in a restaruant. I worked as a buss boy before and man I got hooked up on all my breaks. Just a thought.

as a waiter i told my boss i was a diabetic (im really not), after they hired me, he said i better make it quick if im gona munch on something. he still gets really mad sometimes when he catches me in the kitchen eating when its busy, so i make trips to the bathroom with a tupperwear container, he still gets pissed cause sometimes he still catches me when hes downstair watching me on the cameras. but im a good waiter so he wont fire me.

free cheat meals are nice too

when i waited tables you didnt get a "break" unless there was a lull in business. we were always busy. Everyone had cups with soda in them to drink during the shift. People would just swing by every 30 mins or so and take a few chugs. I mixed a weight gainer in a bottle at the beginning of the shift. when i swung by the drink shelf i chucked a bit of that. did it work? who knows. it helped me not to get so hungry during the shift

I would not recomend actually "eating" something if your restraunt is busy. you dont want to be that guy who never does his extra work because he fucking off somewhere. If you are an excellent employee then they will be more likely to overlook things like you chugging a shake instead of a soda.

Bring your meals with you in a cooler. I did this for my entire contest preparation. I would get at least 3 meals in before work, and then 3 meals during work and then one more after work. I would just go into the break room with some water and get the meal down in about 2 minutes. It's the same as a bathroom break.

I keep Almonds in my pocket.

Almonds and beef jerky are always in my pocket when in a bind.

Does anyone there take smoke breaks? Chances are nobody gives a shit. So tell them you're going on an eating break instead of giving yourself cancer.
