thanks IRBS, trying to get stronger and work on my technique at the same time....its a delicate line to dance with when you have a good amount of weight on your back

thanks Jim, trying to get consistant handling heavier weights....the more that is done the lighter they will feel. And to the leg press....that was pure insanity on our part. Legs felt like steel beams at that point and the first set felt heavy ass nuts....had to muscle through it to get where i want to go

Yeah that would have been a lovley squat 550 even, was playing a little cautious, looking for bigger numbers next week. Dont sell yourself short, you were kicking ass yourself over in the rack. Yes the dead session will be a good one....I'm thinking of pulling sumo for something different

I'm ok, I just was so tired I almost passed out doing my squats but made up for it on the leg press. 3 sets of 405 for 3-4 reps was ok but I had to stop after that out of common sense. (imagine... using common sense?)

Using common sense is not allowed when training at Globo, no one else uses it

I feel you there... Its like every time I sign on the FORVM I just read and hope, then go to the gym and do work trying to make myself a monster.
"I put the belt on at the 405 set but not tight its pretty loose so I can concentrate on the using my abs a lot to stabilize myself and push out agains the loose belt. Once I hit the 495 and above sets, I wear the belt like one should, comfortably tight getting all of the use out of it. As for knee wraps, no I do not use them my squat is not heavy enough to warrant me using them at this moment. I feel once I am consistantly at/above the 600lb mark then I will start to use them."
Im so glad I just found this cause I do the same exact thing with the same logic behind it when using my belt for heavier sets. Cool..see Big W..Im your lil sis, following your lead big bro. ;)

And the whole reason why I do it like this is for the longest time I did not use a belt for anything expect when going for a new max. So it is ingrained into my head to keep the abs tight throughout the whole motion, belted or not. Even when the belt is being worn like it should be, I am still keeping the abs tight and pushing out against the belt. There are some out there and I am guilty of this as well, once the belt goes on the ab tightness stops. Now from my experience when I have done this the movement goes to shit. So no matter what I try to keep my abs tight it helps a lot in all lifts compound to isolation.

Did back tonight with Juggernaut, stayed with 405 during the whole dead session which lasted roughly 75 minutes. Hit it from all angles....sumo, convential, medium sumo, extremely close stance. Went from 5 reps to 1 rep to 3 reps, just hammering the living hell out of the weight. Still beat up from Tuesday's squat session. Ended today with snatch grip deads 3x5 @ 225 and a hamtractor/standing calf raise superset 3sets did stackx10 on last set for both of them. Chest tomorrow....off from the weights during the weekend and something new and exciting come Monday

I like the variation of deadlift form. Carlos is doing stuff like that changing up his stances. He is starting to pull conventional which I think he should stick to. good stuff always gotta vary it up.

This is not a joke. Chandler, I agree with you on that bro. Can you imagine if those guys shredded to the bone? Two things would happen. First we'd see them both looking like they have never looked before... completely cut, that would rock! Then like you said, the bulk up rebound after it all would be nuts! Both these boys would blow up big time!
I'd love to see that.

Thanks Hg for the support, gotta go big to get big. Now I wasnt always a fat bastard, I didnt crack the 205lb barrier until I was 21. Was constitatly in the 180-205lb range, however when I was about 22 I hit 225 but was sloppy, dieted down to about 210. Started training with G and Juggernaut and now here I sit floating somewhere in the 250s. Different approaches to training and diet have played a big role in that. As always though I am looking for more, in all aspects of life

Hey Wides, I'm curious what your eating schedule is like, 8-9 meals a day must take some planning and organizing.
Its a non stop feeding frenzy from when I wake up till I sleep. I eat at 630AM, 830AM, 1030AM, 1230PM, 230PM, 430PM, 630PM....train at 8, have PWO Shake then around 1030PM have my last meal of the day, since its a PWO meal its high in everything. All meals, with the execption of the 630AM feeding contain the following:
- 6oz of a dead animal or fish
- 1/2 - 1 cup of a carb (brown rice, potato, pasta, ect)
- 1 - 1.5 cups of a veggie (this is always 1/2 cup higher than the carb source)
All are soild meals, no shakes. I eat all types of dead animals, I dont care what it is, dont have the time to decide if this is good for me or not. Its dead, I eat it. Fish is the same thing, I dont get caught up in numbers or macros. Its just about being smart with your food choices, if it looks bad chances are it is, so dont eat it.
your worse than me for God's sakes! I thought I ate loads...for a girl at least, LOL

Food bill isnt that much, I buy everything in bulk and deverisfy what I eat throughout the day so that I dont eat everything I made in one day. Makes the food last longer, but I've gotta get bigger and stronger. A well diversifed diet is the best way to get there
Im gonna have to go the bulk food shopping route once Im home...here its not that easy to do. they dont have huge warehouses like Cotsco cause people here are not into buying in bulk, but are rather daily food shoppers cause food and veg is so fresh here.
The houses here have tiny fridges. When my friends come to my house and see the huge ass American fridge they are totally stunned by the size of it and all the food we store in it too. LOL

Fish is the same thing, I dont get caught up in numbers or macros. Its just about being smart with your food choices, if it looks bad chances are it is, so dont eat it.
lmao dead animal! You make that sound delicious wides haha, but is something stopping you from eating live critters? Eating live animals makes you 4 times as anabolic and raises your test levels 2000%+
but in all seriousness it looks like a great diet and it must be working considering the shit you've been throwing around.

yes the thing stopping me from eating the live critters is that they are to damn hard to catch. gotta be sneaky with them, the dead ones dont move. It is working well for me, I got the idea from reading Tiny's thread. The first week of it was hard to get together but once I got it going its real easy

you lumbering around a forest trying to catch little animals would be hilarious.
i wanted to try his diet too cause it seems like you could get stronger and cut body fat at the same time but it does seem like it would get expensive since theres no bulk stores like costco around here.

Just the Zercher Squats, they are a great lift and gets the quads nice and beefy. Helps with overall leg development and helps with the overall squat form. Can't lean to far forward or backward, if you do you eat the ground

How hard would you compare them to front squats?
Compeltley different styles of squats that hit a different part of the quad, so they are both unique to leg development. Front squats target that outside sweep while the Zercher's build up the middle of the quad, getting them thick.

Well been doin some thinking and for the next couple of weeks going to be doing this in an more organized manner as far as exercises go in some attempt to get my lifts and myselft stronger. I need to start doing some big boy numbers its for both my mental health and I am looking to do another comp. so there is another reason. I have it planned out like this, I am open for any suggestions, comments, hints:
For Deads - Week 1 Rack Pulls, Week 2 SLDL, Week 3 GMs, Week 4 Pull from Floor
For Bench - Week 1 Bench, Week 2 Incline, Week 3 Floor Press, Week 4 Boards
For Squat - Alternating between normal squats and box squats every week
The other lifts going to keep it simple, aiming for reps between 0-5 and avoiding the 0 rep sets as much as possible. Whenever I can find my chains (dont know how you can lose these things), they will be added into the mix for some extra flavor. Should be a fun ride, gotta remain consistant

Not so much organized but a way to attack my weaknesses....to build a better foundation on. The 0 is just as powerful as the 5 rep, 10 rep or 25rep set, since even if you move it an 1" fibers are involved, the CNS is involved, the mind is there, so you learn from what you did wrong and why you couldnt get it, so the next time you go after it your ready

I am going to begin some organized chaos as well....I was on a rotation in the past, but it got messed up due to partner missing session, ect ect....
This is my thinking....
Squat= Week 1: squats, Week 2: Box Squats, Week 3: Front Squat
Bench= Week 1: Bench, Week 2:Boards, Week 3: Floor Press,
Deads= Week 1: Deads, Week 2: Rack Pulls, Week 3: Off Block Pulls.

Looks good, I like varation between weeks with a core exercise. Which is one of the reasons why Westside Barbell works so well. You really dont train the main lift often but you do attack different aspects of the lift which in the end help with the overall delivery of it

You can add the board work in after your regular bench movement for total distruction...For example, after a heavy flat bench we like to hit some close grip 2-3 boards, for 3-5 sets in the 3-5 rep range, that will fry out the tris and get you good practice on straining thru the lift...other than that, looks like fun to me....
one more idea, move the GMs to your squat day, make that a 3 week rotation and add block pulls to the mix, pulls off a 3" platform are killer on the hips and aid in flexability. My training partners have been doing speed pulls of the 100's...killer....

Rack Deads (4" below the knee) - barx10, 135x8, 225x5, 315x5, 405x3, 495x1, 545x1, 590x0, 495x3
HS High Row - 4sets 15-5, 5ppsx5 on last set
Weight Assisted Pull-ups - 6, 6, 6
HS Low Row - 1ppsx10, 4ppsx5
Good session overall, mind-fucked myself out of 590 but came back and got the 495. Going to be adding assistance work from now on, I feel it was lacking in the previous sessions, so it will get done. Need to get stronger, but doing it the Bob Wiley Method - Baby Steps. This is only the beginning I will be getting these numbers up to something respectable, and nailing them for more than 0 reps.

I havent had any troubles with my elbows when I do them. When I set up for them I position the bar a little bit more on my bicep than elbow, since this is the sweet spot for when I do them. Then once I cross my arms and lock up my hands together the bar is held tightly against my body but still in the same spot where I started with. I keep my foot distance a little closer than how I normally squat, so I would say its medium-wide for me. i found this link here that shows some vids of the lift being done and it gives a nice explanation of it as well:

Just doing what any other person would do to get the session in when the normal time can't be done. It was a ballbuster, but it tests the spirit and how bad someone really wants to get to where they want to be. Skibas will be a monster of a session, with damn good times

Thanks Jim, that 590 would have been a nice lift to get, dont know if I was gassed, mentally out of it, or what but the bar didnt move off the pins. Next time it will move. Getting up was a bit hard, my fat ass wanted to sleep a little more but I knew if I did the session would have been lost...which would have not been a good start to the day.

Nice pulling Wides. Pulling is a wierd beast. For me it seems like I just have to play and experiment with what works....and I still havent figured it out. Some stuff works for a while then stops, LOL. Rack Pulls are the key to a big pull IMO. If youre not used to handling the heavy weight theres no way youll pull it from the floor. Just keep pulling...thats the only thing that seems to work, LOL.

Squats - barx10, 135x8, 225x8, 315x5, 405+chainsx3, 405+chainsx3, 465+chainsx1, 495+chainsx1, 525+chainsx0 (started to come out of the hole, but went back into it)
Leg Ext - 4sets 15-12, stackx12 on last set
Hamtractor (narrow width) - 4sets 12-8, stackx8 on last set
Calf Raises - 5x15
Hot Damn what a session. For those wondering the chains used tonight where 5/8" (5ft sections) plus 1/2" leader chain so roughly I think about 45lbs worth of chain so its 45lbs heavier at the top of the movement. Did 405 twice since its been a long time since I did chain work, had to find the groove again, but once I did 465 was a smoke show, 495 just like 465. Was real hesitant with the 525 getting down so it fucked my world up. Legs were pumped beyond all belief, and the extensions or curls didnt help. Juggernaut was a complete monster throwing up weight like it was nothing and testing the waters, he got 425+chains for a single on his last set which was a huge one.
It was a sight to see me walk in with the chains, half hanging on my shoulder and me dragging the other half through the parking lot getting into the gym.....oh the looks! HAHA

Its the crazy shit that many of us do here to get those large numbers, big muscles that everyone talks about (in the general pop). There was no shaking of the chains at people, it was hard enough to just walk, legs were pumped out of their mind and sore. Just lumbered out just like I lumbered into the place.

Chains are lovley.....I still think they have no clue what hit them, for one we used the racks correctly with chains, and two moved some serious weight. They should be thanking us for helping to boost their membership by bringing in the bigger person clientele....haha

In addition, I have to make this clear to everybody. Not only did Wides walk in with chains over his shoulder for himself but walked in with a total of 4 CHAINS WITH LEADERS because I'm too damn short to train in the same rack with him. Now that is one hell of a training partner! Big props to you Wides!

thanks Hg, that line in the orginal post "Are you down with the Chains?" is also a reference to the group Alice in Chains (old stupid college thing). When carrying them yes, they are slung over the shoulder, not only is it cool looking but is easy. As for the actual use of them, they are attached to the bar via 1/2"leader chain and are suspended so that 3 links are on the floor when you stand up. The inital setup takes some time but once its set, your good.

Since we train together the exercises have to be the same, down to the smallest detail (not saying we wear matching shirts like that one time). Training the same way with the same equipment allows quality growth while employing the same methods.

It is controlled to a point with the heavier weights to insure that I can keep the muscle strong without causing any damage to it. With the lighter weights I am pretty strict but once it starts getting heavy I am not ashamed to add some sway as you put it to keep the muscle where it should be

Been thinking about pre and post workout supplemenatation recently....trying to come up with a formula that can get me over the hump and spark some new growth/strength. Came up with this idea and going to see how it will go:
Preworkout - Torrent about 20 minutes before
Postworkout - CellPro, may add some whey to this but not sure.
I figure the Torrent pre will help give me some extra boost to get through the session while the profile on the CellPro looked good, even though its an "old" supp. Trying to avoid that Torrent bloat PWO so that I can get some soild food in me quickly

Yo man..
Why not take half the serving of torrent pre workout mixed with half a serving of cell pro And then do the same thing post workout.
Think about it...
You would get high gl carbs, creatine, protein and aminos in a conservative amount keeping you anabolic
Without really bloating you up.
I tried doing the whole oldschool first gen creatine dextrose mix pre and post and it just plain bloated me up. Maybe you can reach a happy median with my recomendation? Just an idea

Can't remember the last time I did them, probably about 10 months ago. I do them like everyone else does, didnt know there was a different way. I keep my stance pretty narrow since for me it hits my hamstrings better. But I go down till the bar touches the top of my feet then come back up. Its real slow to when I do them to get the fullest out of the movement

Spent, done good soild session. Gotta work on some things with the front military mainly timing on when to go up, but played around with 225 to work on that. Now the Juggernaut 1987 Rear Delt Cable Thing, there is no way in hell I can describe this, he will have to do it I had enough trouble trying to do the friggin thing it was quite comical. The weighted abs felt good, going to get a lot of power out of doing these. Off on Wed. Bring on the wheels come Thursday

Very intense session bro. 285 on militaries is a hell of a number. 6pps on shrugs is nothing to mess with either. Great work my friend.

Legs....07/17/08 at 8PM in the land of Blunderfuck
Trained with Juggernaut
1.5 scoops Torrent, 1 scoop CellPro Preworkout
Box Squats - barx12 (no box), 135x10 (no box), 225x8 (no box), 315x3, 405+chainsx3, 455x3+chains, 465+chainsx1, 475+chainsx0, 405x6 (no box)
Single Leg Extensions - 3x15-9
1.5 scoops Torrent, 1 scopp CellPro Postworkout
I will go into why its the land of Blunderfuck in a little bit. Now onto the session, was a ball breaker but its a way to test the whole squat movement box was about 1" below paraelell. Really liking the chains in the training, whole new arena for growth. Did the 405 without the box, normal to readjust everything and to hammer the legs. Single leg extensions done to get the blood flowing in the legs again. Juggernaut was up to his normal tricks doing 405+chains for two sets of three with ease. Plus huge thanks for helping me out with the last set of chains when I was sitting on the box unable to go up. I was stuck, he stripped the bar down to 405 and I was able to get it off the box. Bigger things yet to come

Why it was Blunderfuck Day, they must have been giving out free t-shirts or something cause they were everywhere.
The session started out with us trying to find the box to squat on, no big deal. However, we had put our chains next to the racks that we were going to be using for that night. We have to use two racks because of the height difference. So we finally find the box and low and behold these morons are there in the two racks that we had our chains next to. No surprise, but we didnt say anything to them, showed gym ettiqute and let them train. So one rack opens and Juggernaut and I proceed to warmup taking our time. While we are doing this, another rack opens up so at this point Juggernaut moves over to the rack and starts to set it up for squats. He comes over to me to talk about how we are going to go about the session, enter the 4 Horseman of Moron. They completely disassemble what he set up and proceeded to do something that resembled a curl, looked more like a pelvis thrusting club dance move. Doesn't matter what it was, neither of the moves work for either a gym or club. At this point I start to get pissed, cause its a Blunderfuck. Meanwhile the dude next to us, who was using the rack for an ACTUAL EXERCISE says "Wow, they really jumped in your grave." I replied "Yes, it is very common here for people to do that, no ettiquite here"
At this point we are dragging our feet with rest periods (in the end it helped had more energy). So after sometime Juggernaut finally gets a rack, so I am helping him get set up with the chains and where to put the box. Now here is the real punch to the dick, I got my bar set up, 405+chains, box in place getting ready to tighten my belt, when one of the 4 Horseman (see above) decides to start playing with the one chain, I lost it. Since when and at what point did a gym turn into a fucking petting zoo! I dont come over when your getting ready for a set and start rubbing your head, or scratching your nuts, so dont touch the chains. Honestly you dont throw rocks at the gorilla for a reason, it tends to piss them off. But I kept my mouth shut, there is no reason to flip out, they left the area finally but when did people become so fucking stupid? Common sense you fucks, damn.
On a brighter note, a yound kid came up to us and asked how chains benefited lifting with the compound movements, that made my day. I told him about it and he was polite about it.
I will open a gym with no racks, the only thing it will have in it for squats are monolifts, yeah try and curl out of those things.....hahahaha

haha thats funny shit wides. i got a job at my gym and i wrote a note suggesting that we had a sign on our only squat rack saying "no curls in the squat rack" and they thought it was the dumbest idea idea in the world...Yeah theres only 10 olympic bars plus 17 ez curl bars to choose from with plenty of places to lay the weights but let them use the only squat rack haha...but it seriously sucks waiting for the rack while the wife beater crew have their gun show....
some rude ass bastards at your gym though. I guess you get more of that in a densely populated area like that though.
that is hilarious..not the guy touching the chains, but your story telling here. People are so friggin strange to me...touching your chains? LOL

Awsome Squatin Brotha!
damn wides...I'd of lost it....where is this gym I don't want to even come close to that place if i venture out and look for a gym in PA when i move....thank goodness the training center is still only a 20 minute drive from my new digs.
you still plan on doing that meet in late september at TTC? I may be opting out of it depending on my shoulder/bicep tendon issues.

The Gym story post made my morning.... 4 horsemen (goons), petting zoo, haha that gym sounds like mine with all the people doing jaw jackers superset with stand arounds... had some old lady do something like that to me one morning doing incline flyes, came over right after set 2 as I'm stading there about to sit down, DB in hand she hops on the bench and starts doing well I dunno what it was... assholes!
On a better note that is some serious squating!!! Ball breaker indeed!

Yeah and its getting worse as well with the people. Its everyone with horse blinders on not knowing what is going on in their surroundings and doing what they can. No ettiquite or a sense of what the fuck is going on. A new gym in the area is slated to be opened in the fall, might have to check it out when that happens.

I guess they were curious...I dont know what would make someone do that. Its one of the great gym mysteries

thanks bro, doing what I can to get bigger and stronger

This is about 40 minutes north of where your moving to, right across the street from Sesame Place. I shit you not you can smell the chlorine and see some of the water rides. Yes, I am still planning on doing that meet in Sept. shooting for a lighter weight class, so I can get the weight down and have my body be used to moving heavy weight at a lower BW. All I have to do is get out of bed for the morning cardio and it will be money.

thanks bro, every gym I feel is plagued with these idoits, so gotta adapt to them being there and go about the task at hand. It will piss you off, but it cant affect your training

off season I curl in the rack, but I curl 155 for reps, is that respectable? haha
WIDES - 1 week out tomorrow... one week until you can count on me hitting the calories... cannot wait for the rebound...
I'll be moving to Philly sometime between Sept 13-20th, class starts the 22nd, I figure we could get a gathering or just get together with a crew a few weeks after? Some cool October weather and vibe to set the mood.
Nothing amps me up like fall weather - where it's crisp, the leaves are falling, and it gets dark quick
