Just got done eating some Top Secret Big Wides Buffalo Chili....this shit is so good you go from zero to bloated in a matter of minutes. Light legs tonight, maybe start off with some squats and just focus on hitting depth and not going below it, that is a problem of mine but a good one. The nice cool fall weather is finally hitting the area so that only means on thing.....wearing big clothes and time to start growing

thanks IRBS, I figured it was a nice way to still get some work in before the meet but over tax the body. Sort of a deload before the week off and then its gametime.....gotta rest up and eat up so good things come on the 27th

Thanks, the whole goal of this week's training is to get bloodflow into the muscle and keeping the joints good. The more bloodflow in the more stuff gets in there and helps in the long run. Although this week is playing with my head, I feel like I am getting smaller but my eating hasnt changed....

Well I consumed about half a tray of baked ziti, 5 homemade meatballs, 3 sasuages ( 2 hot, 1 sweet), Pork that was cooking in the gravy all day (gravy = tomato sauce), several slices of garlic bread. For dessert I had some cookies and ice cream. Was nice and full when I hit the sack

Baked Ziti is made the same way you make lasagana but you use ziti instead of the lasagna noodles....its quite tasty. I am sure Toni could elaberate more on it than I can....

I tend to use a neutral grip on the rev pec deck so that I can get the full "hug the barrel" movement. Its really helped with the development of the rear delts and also has helped me along with the bench nicely. See in my gym the DBs only go up to 125lbs, and got tired of rigging the HS Shrug to fit the pies on so moved onto barbell shrugs. With these the weight can really be added on which can help push the growth enevlope

For the grip I go to the outermost part of the knurling, it normally is a thumbs length away from where the rings are, which is my normal snatch grip. It took me a while to get the grip down to where I could press the weight, but once I found the sweet spot I stuck with it.....

At my local supermarket or at the wholesale place I buy food from. Its not that expensive out here for some odd reason. I dont eat it often so when I do I like to enjoy it

Sqaut - 530 (3 whites), 575 (PR and 3 whites), 590 miss (got called by the side judges)
Bench - 340 (3 whites), 350 (3 whites), 380 (3 whites PR in a meet for me)
Deadlift - 535 (3 whites), 570 (PR and 3 whtes), 600 miss (small hitch mid-thigh)
Total - 1515 (PR)
Well all I can say about yesterday is wow. I shocked myself in what I could lift but I know there is a lot of room for improvement. It was also the first time lifting out of a Monolift and well I want one....made it real easy. Those two misses at 590 and 600 would count as gym lifts, which to me means I can handle that amount of weight on my back and off the floor. I think I also take the cake as the calmest competitor out there, walked up the the bar, fasted the belt, looked at the bar and lifted it. As the vids show that Hg posted (I havent looked at them yet) give a good feel for the meet. My bench attempts, looking back on them should have been better however the bench is my worst lift, I fatigue real quick on that and my main focus was to get a decent total out of the meet. It was humid as all hell in the back room but I would rather it be hot then cold. I would like to thank Kate for having this meet, the spotters and loaders, and those who came out to show support it means a lot. I am sore as hell right now, feel like I was hit by a bus but I will be back in the gym some point this week then next week its back to the grind

thanks Sugar.... I learn a little more each meet on what I have to do and what areas need improving to get to the goals I want. I am def going to let myself repair from this before training hard again....I dont feel that in these past months I have given myself enough rest to recover so that is def something that is going to change

Awesome job Wides! The 590 was very close...cant tell from the video, but very close I would imagine. You sandbagged your benches!!!! LOL, you had plenty more in the tank on those. thanks IRBS, yes I know I sandbagged those benches which had me a little pissed after the meet...but you live and learn from meet to meet. Yes I can't be missing 570 anymore in the gym haha. Juggernaut said basically the same thing you did, that I did weights that I never touch in training then come time of the meet I am hitting these big numbers. It felt good to do all three, its a nice rush at the end of the day

thanks broc, those weights didnt feel all that easy but I am pleased with how I moved them. I will admit I was very conservative with my openers but the point of them for me during this meet was to get a mark down in the books then go for broke after that.

Yeah I do tend to play it safe with the weights for what reason I have no idea. It was hotter than heck in there and when I was warming up for the squat the bar kept slipping off my back, so that put a mental screw in my head but quickly went away. Thanks for hosting such a kick ass meet and next time I will put some weight on the bar and see what I can move under meet conditions and get that better total.

i agree with Kate....Wides is holding back...i know he's got much bigger numbers in him.
and Kate the gym was not that hot....come visit us in july when the AC doesn't work and the humidity is 95%.....LOL

(How many people put numbers in the books at a meet, that don't hit them in the gym training for it?) (Three lifts and 3 PR's to boot in each one) Just some crazy shit right there!

Gotta say after the 255x12 set the amount of blood in my chest was a lot. Juggernaut came back real strong tonight, showing no signs of what has been bugging him and pressed fine. Still getting back into it but getting ready to take off again......

Still getting back into it but getting ready to take off again......

Yeah I dont think I'll be moving anything heavy for another week or so. The rep work felt good last night and I personally dont think my body can handle anything heavy right now. Just focusing on pumping blood into the regions to help with the recovery process and to give me a reason to eat more.....

thanks Hg, not so much endurance more that I physically right now can't press a lot of weight. CNS is still a bit shocked/stressed so taking it easy but still moving weight. Yeah that mutant is finally feeling better, he had trouble warming up but then he started moving weights for insane amount of reps like they were nothing

Except for a couple of indivduals who where sprinting on them like they were in the olympics and the lady who was next to me cheering during the Phillies game....she was clapping her hands and pumping her fist in the air.

yes i was.....but next time out it wont be good enough. For either myself or the competition that is out there, it needs to increase no matter what be it records or not (I didnt even know I was close until Powerfulkate mentioned it here). To me its all about getting better with each time, I got the 1500+ total now its time to shoot for the 1600+ total. Its a matter of getting into the gym, busting my balls each rep, each set....getting food in me and the proper rest. Each time I compete it HAS to be better than the last time, no fucking excuses....its not my way. My next one isnt until 2009 somewhere but I will be damned if I am not ready for it. Next week its back to full bore training........NO EXCUSES

All of these reps were done slow, so the signature "Wides Pop" wasn't there. Hit the squats deep and controlled which helped with the high reps....allowed me no to get burned out. Walked like a friggin duck the rest of the night, the decline situps helped stretch out the legs and hip flexors. Feeling good

Thank you for your kind words bro, I dont know how I missed this....it means a lot and being held in this regard makes me train that much harder. I will not let up at all in my training or my journey to get to where I want to go, I have only gone a little way thus far and have a lot of road left to travel

It felt great, it stretched out the legs after doing all those squat reps. the decline was steep so at the bottom was the real stretch. Throwing them in during the middle of the session should help me bring them up and make them stronger in the end

thats a good question.....my roots are in with the Westside Barbell Templates which I used throughout high school for football and track. As I got into my last year of high school focused more on the olympic movements with some powerlifting shit thrown in there. During college my training was on a wave.....during May-October it was pure olympic lifting since I was out of school and I could focus more on them. Once the track season started in Novemeber we went to a combo Westside Template with olympic lifts. So right now I am def training in a powerlifting style, heavy weights. low reps but at the say time I am looking to get bigger overall and build up the supporting muscle groups to turn the Big 3 into stronger lifts overall....which will make me a better powerlifter overall as well.
So I guess its a weird version of powerlifitng, bodybuilding, and pure insanity.....

thanks Pizza, the grip used on the fronts was palms down with the db being horizontal and raised to eye level. It depends on the frequency of training the front delts for me, sometimes yes I feel the need to get them done, espically if I am hitting a stale point in my pressing power but if it is a heavy pressing week then I tend to try and stay away from them. Its all a matter of preference I guess, but to me I need to hit all bodyparts at some point during my training weeks if I ever hope to become one of those monsters out there

you are doing the right thing by researching different routines and go with whatever one you feel is going to help you the most and fit into your schedule. but with whatever one you choose give it 3-4 months and you'll see the results

That 500x3 set, I approached it as if I get 1, go for another until I fail, the third rep felt like a ton so I stopped. Hit some other assistance work and the rack pulls above the knee helped with the lockout portion of the lift. Going to be eating hearty and resting till Wed.....feels good to move weight again

Right now I have 2 bottles which is a 22 day supply (200 pills/9pills a day = 22)....so midway through I'm going to get another 2 bottles and run it for say 2 months so that I can see how it works for that duration

There are a couple of reasons why I haven't done anything in gear one of them is the price of the acutal gear, another is I would have to relearn how to lift and the third one is that I enjoy lifting RAW. Not to knock any of those out there who use gear but as of where I stand now and how my training is going I am going to remain the way I am. Now, that doesnt mean that I won't use gear at somepoint down the road cause I may have to, but for now I'm keeping things simple. Eventually I would like to start using knee wraps and getting used to them, just to see what they can do for my squat.
Anyway, good luck prepping for your first meet, a lot can be done in a year just stay the course, eat good and smart, and keep things consistant and you'll do fine.

what do you mean by eat smart though?? im getting mixed feeling lol! maybe its from mhy last meal of 50 grams whey,8 oreos and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and 1 cup of milk plus 1 cup of water. im trying the dirty bulk,seeing how i dont add fat on my body easily, very hard too for me.

By eating smart is how it sounds....to be a successful PLer or athelte for that matter you dont go out and eat a sleeve of oreos, a couple of big macs, a sundae washed down with a diet coke (not saying there is anything wrong with this)....but get your main whole food meals in then if you want that other stuff enjoy it in moderation. Too many people out there think that the only way PLers set PRs or the like is because they dont care what they eat, that they are fat and out of shape. Thats not the case you can eat healthy, put on the size needed, and be strong as fuck without getting into the junk. The physquie of the "modern day" PLer is going away from how it was in the 80s and 90s with the fat guts to more of indivduals who are in better shape athletically speaking who can withstand the loads of weights out there.....but that last statement is just my opinion

Yea I agree with you Wides on the whole eating thing. I wouldnt want to be that fat guy who is strong or that shredded guy who has no strength. A combination of both is always best.

Also, Big G was there hammering away with an assualt on his back. He's a force to be reckoned with and was moving some soild weights, in other words he was looking good

nice sesion man, is this a routine you use to gain weight for the next competition? it seems like something you'd do when you need to get bigger to lift more. that pause 365 sounded pretty sick!

thanks bro, the 365 felt good with the pause and the 385 flew up....good sign there. The amount of curling that is a guess, I think we did more sets than that but I lost count, it was good espically the tech. used. Getting huge isnt easy but sure is fun

thanks pro, yes but the reps and sets are subject to change, nothing is really set in stone. The only consistant will be the heavy weights. I do need to get bigger and lift more so this is working fine, not only leaving feeling good but the next day is insane as well

yes, gotta listen to your body, what works for you works for you. if more reps and sets get you big, do it. if less volume and heavy weight is your way,its your way.
