You should look into the Smolov squat cycle, if you want to focus on lower body. It is not for everybody, but it is worth looking into

Flies - 1x12, 1x10, 1x10+6 drop 1x8+5 drop 1x8+6 drop (repeated for 3 sets, last two sets were stackx10+6 drop 1/4 of the stack then drop 1/4 stack for last set)
Bench - 135x8, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5, 315x4 (those all were paused)
Incline Smith - 1ppsx12, 2ppsx10, 2pps+25x6, 2pps+25x6

Pre - Pump, VS, ALA, Beta9
Intra - 1 scoop Carb Max, 3 scoops Torrent
Post - Carton of Egg Whites, 1 tater, 4oz broc rabe

Still not wanting to push the envelope but got a nice pump in. My thinking more and more with the pre-exhaust for the bench is, that upon competeting I am never fresh for the bench and have some fatigue going from the squat. Train like your in a meet, so when it comes time for the meet, your ready to fire on all cyclinders

they are coming nicely and I have to be patient with this, I rush back and I am all sorts of fucked. Sadly I am not getting so swole that I don't fit into a normal sized one, remember I am just a normal dude who enjoys lifting weights that one day will get big.

Thanks bro, been doing a lot of preexhaust as of late get some new fibers growing and working on pushing weight while fatigued, it can only help with the growth factor. Those pause sets are a killer, no matter what weight they are its a different feel overcoming interia, but a damn good one in the end

Done in 45 minutes, itching to go heavy on the bench but holding back....no worries there. This pre-exhaust stuff is fun and I am getting a good pump/feel out of it.

As always was mezmorized by what was going on in the Aerobics room

Had to get the heavy weight on my back again, figured this was it. Only carbs I had all day were intraworkout, and was tired but fuck that shit. That only means train harder to me....sets were nice and smooth and had a nice pop in them


Only 150lbs more to go

Meal 2 - 8oz beef, 4oz asparagus, 3/4 cup oats
Meal 3 - 8oz beef, 4oz asparagus
Meal 4 - 2 scoops Ultra Whey Pro
Meal 5 - 8oz chicken, 4oz spinach, 4oz barley
Meal 6 - 6oz turkey

Nothing too fancy, no idea what this breaks out to but I like it

Seated DB Press - 4x10 (did these by sitting on the edge of a bench no back support)

Machine Shoulder Press - 4x10, 1x10x10x10

That was it, got in late which is why I went at it solo. Speed was good on the squats and then hit up some shoulder stuff. Did some hang cleans only because it was one of those "oh why not" moments I have from time to time.

Thinking I might jump on a scale Sunday and start curling on Saturday....

that's a good motto there to follow with training. It's all about the intensity rather than the insanity at times.


For those wondering how the lean down process is working, I am sitting at 250 right now so going to up the cardio and play around with the carb timing and see what happens

Felt good today and had to do Incline first cause all of the other benches were taken up at the same time. No worries need to get more meat on the chest area to build it up, did all this on two meals today, it all comes down to how big your balls are, how much fucking heart you have, and working through shit while not making excuses as to why it didn't go well.

thanks bro, yeah I like Torrent and having it pre and intraworkout really helps with the pump and the all important insulin spike. There was a point where I was taking three servings of Torrent surrounding my workout. It is a tad costly but it does work. Got me over the 240 mark when I did it. I picked it up from a couple of giants here on the board, so I figured, why not give it a try

Tried to keep it moderate with the weight since its the first time benching in a while. Form is getting better with more of a focus on the "balls glued to the bench" form. Leg drive is getting better and the lat pushoff is increasing as well

Moving forward to making this more of a full body lift each time out

Nothing beats some moron who takes over half the gym to do his hopping/weight combonation training or whatever it's fucking called and then stares you down the whole session.....Eat something first before you stare down a person, it might fill out your ILS.

That's all it was, a decent session. Been playing around with my squat form with pushing my elbows more forward, which keeps my upper back more tight. Found that it made a difference and going to keep it going for a while, need to see what comes out of it.

Grinding away each day, looking to improve on what has been done and sticking to the grind. It feels good to be hitting a stride and consistant training which is nice. All three big lifts are starting to groove again and my endurance in each has been improving which is something I was lacking before. Trying to get back to the platform in 2010, but in a better shape than 2009 with bigger numbers

Modified my stance a bit and it made the world of difference. Was able to get under the bar, stayed tight, and was able to squat some decent weight again. Didn't feel overly taxed from this session which is a good thing in my mind, had some left in the tank.

Only at Globo Gym would somebody who is walking around like they are carrying suitcases, would come up to the rack your squatting at, take the clips that you have on the rack for the heavier sets, walk away looking like he is carrying heavier suitcases than when he appeared and place those clips on a curl bar that has 2 tens on it. I was not only dumbfounded but just wondered "Why?"

I can not believe the shit that people do. I was squating one night and this kid asked me how long I was going to use the squat rack for because he wanted to do Curls in them lol haha.

This kid had the balls to rush me. I am sorry but I dont rest 30 seconds between my squat sets haha.

Walking Backward Drags - 5 trips of 50 yards
Sled Drags - 5 trips of 50 yards, form on this was more lower than the first trip

That was all, nothing crazy but it will help with recovery and getting me into functional shape that will help get the weights moving....

Meal 2 - 8oz meat, 3oz green stuff, 2oz carbs
Meal 3 - Same as 2

Meal 6 - either PB or 5oz meat

if your looking for a quad exercise, these ones are awesome to kill the quads and have little impact on the knee. first time ive had sore quads in months.

leg exts rape my knees, had to find an alternative.

it will, I just have to be patient and not mind fuck myself like I do easily. I have been reviewing some film of my other comp deads to see what my form was like. I need to replicate that day in and day out to get the bigger weights up daily so that the meet jump is bigger as well

I took a look at some videos of my competition lifts to see what I was doing different then with my squat to what was being done currently. I noticed that a big thing was my stance and how wide I was squatting. As of late I brought my stance in without me noticing it. Took the stance out to what I used to squat in, had the bar lower on my back and went to town.....it was scary, I kind of looked like a powerlifter for a brief second there.

1 trip = 100yds

Empty Sled Drag (warmup) - 1 trip walking forward, one trip walking backwards
Walking forward drags - 3 trips with 1pie on sled, 2 trips with 2 pies on the sled
Speed Forward Drags - 2pies on sled moving as fast as I can for 50yds, quick feet steps
Farmers Walks - 2 trips

It's a hot one today....lots of fluids to get things done. Need to get big and strong...tired of being small and weak

thanks for the kind words, to be honest I don't know how I look always have that picture in my mind of that 6' 155lb 15 year old I was 11 years ago. I can't let myself get complacient with anything....always need to be striving forward looking for the next best thing and how to get there. Call it work ethic or being hard headed....either way, I'll keep on trying

I know exactly what you mean. I literally cannot see my progress in the mirror, and even looking at pics, I see all the flaws, not the stuff that looks good. I see either the skinny/fat dude who showed up at the Cage last year, or I see my gut, which is still there despite my best attempts so far. I hope you don't mind me saying I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Whether it's work ethic, hard headedness or unwillingness to admit defeat, all we can do is keep at it.

haha that's right Big C....we can do cardio. It does feel good in an odd way and overall has a nice feeling with the day. I am taking in a lot of aminos throughout the day so I am not worried about losing the little muscle i have. Who knows maybe I'll get crazy and start doing 40 minutes, split up with two different types.

Random thoughts surrounding diet/training, not the other kind of random thoughts which can be found in Widesian Logic (where at points I dazzle you with brilliance and baffle you with bullshit)

But I have in recent months in essence revamped the way I look at grubbing. I have essentially taken my carb counts down a tremendous amounts from where they were some time ago, to the point that I think a pre-contest bodbuilder eats more carbs than I do. The weird thing is I think I am gaining more size and strength (as some know I am a headcase when it comes to this, so I'll let those who train with me chime in there), than when I was eating a good amount of carbs. Also during this time, I added a small amount of carbs to my first meal and took my bodyweight from 245ish up to 260ish in about 3 weeks.

I am finding that my sleep pattern is better now than when I was taking PM. Again, this is another mystery to me

I have found pancake batter in an aersal can, which put a smile on my face (this pertains to diet, so its in this thought pattern)

For training, it seems that no matter what the weight was or what I did it never satisfies what I am looking to get out of it. There are sometimes that I leave the gym disappointed in my workout when it turns out to be a banner of a session. Don't know why I think this way or feel that way about certain sessions but they are working. This probably goes back to being a headcase.

Last random thought.....looking forward to November and competeting again
