got to thinking today, and realized that it has been 6 years since my last patella (kneecap) dislocation. it was the 2nd one in 365 days. the doctors said that i would not be able to compete in sports or train my lower body again. took a year to rehab my knee and during that time i was competing and training at full strength and now here i sit, 4 years of track and field under my belt (shot put, hammer, discus), and 6 years of powerlfiting on that same knee that would never be able to do anything.
its all about mind over matter, i have a mind and it didn't matter what the docs had to say..... never give up on what you believe in

Mad Respect brother. Thats right no one can tell you what to do with your life. Limitations exsist only in the mind. Our bodies are alot stronger than we are mentally. They can take a beating and get back up, You can't let the mind hold your body back.

Test and hjyass, thank you bros. i posted what i did yesterday not only because it was on my mind all day but also to let others know that when you overcome obstacles, no matter how big or small they are, it builds something inside of you. its like an internal flame that keeps you going for the long haul

back tonight, no deads since legs are tomorrow:
barbell rows - warmups, 275x3, 275x3
narrow grip pullups - 6, 5, 5
cs rows, 2piesx12, 3piesx8, 4piesx5
hs high row (lever grip) - 3 sets, 3pies+25x4 last set
rev grip pulldowns - 3 sets, 220x4 on last
pullovers - 90x8, 100x6
was disappointed in myself on the rows, wanted more weight or reps. the rest of the session went well, was soaked at the end. good pump and made sure i got a stretch on the back movements, it feels like i am losing some flexability. legs tomorrow....brings a smile to my face

legs last night:
Leg Extensions: 5 sets x 12 reps
Superset: Kneeling Unilateral Leg Curls w/ Seated Leg Curls (Hamtractor); 10 sets total nonstop back and forth x 12-6 reps
Leg Press: 6 sets x 15-10 reps, 14 plates x 10 reps on last set
Hack Squat: 3 sets x 10-8 reps, 4 plates per side x 8 reps on last set
Smith Machine Calf Raise: 7 sets x 12-10 reps
its fun leg pressing with no hamstrings. weight felt heavy at first but the body adapted to the stress. it was a nice way to end the session with the hacks. liking the pre-exhaustion work before the compound movements.

LD, thank you. we as mankind are always learning and adapting. i find that if something is not feeling right take a step back, and pick what does not feel right about it. and instead of attacking it with blind rage, be smart and go at it with full intent that it will be done right. whether it be in the gym or in life the same applies reassess situations and be smart with your next move

thanks Roland, i am trying to get stronger with each session. i listen to what my body is telling me and if it feels that i can go heavy i do, and if i cant then i do light weight. i treat training like a see saw, i do only what i can accomplish and if i get level then its time to switch it up
Excellent session Big Wides!

NPC Chicka is gonna have me doing a strictly powerlifting/olympic lifting split soon. Im a bit nervous about it. I know I can handle it, however not having a proper partner or trainer here to visually correct my mistakes and form and watch me makes me a bit insecure. I may be running to you for advice so I dont always have to bombard her with too many questions...if thats ok.

by all means Toni, don't be afraid to ask away....your going to like the olympic lifts they spark growth in a completely different way than conventional lifting....your improvements in the deads will def help with the cleans from the floor with explosive power of moving dead weight

Standing Barbell Military/Push Press: 5 sets, 225 x 5 on heaviest set
Upright Rows (Power): 3x10 @ 135
Behind The Back Cable Side Raises: 3 sets x 12-10 reps
Seated Side DB Raises: 3 sets x 12-8 reps
Seated HS Shrugs: 3 sets x 12-5 reps
Reverse Pec Deck Rear Delt Flyes: 4 sets x 20-10 reps
DB Shrugs: 3 sets x 12 reps
Rope Pushdowns: 4 sets x 20-10 reps
Overhead Cable Extensions: 4 sets x 15-10 reps

Alternating DB Curls: 3 sets x 8-6 reps
Behind the Back Barbell Wrist Curls: 7 sets x 15-10 reps
i put it as standing military/push press due to the fact as the weight increased, it became more of a push press for me. the power upright rows felt damn good (almost like a clean pull). interesting note about the arm part, from the dip machine down in the above, that was completed in about 25 minutes since the gym was closing....

well i had got to thinking today about a lot of shit, somethings that can be controlled and others that can't. and as i was thinking i reminsied about how far i have matured not only as a lifter but as a person as well, what a difference a year makes. then it hit me, we as people are much like the civiliations that we live in, we are constantly tearing down and rebuilding for the better. musclewise we are tearing down each fiber and rebuilding the same fiber that was destroyed to form a better "city". mentally we are overcoming barriers whether we know it or not, throwing up a weight that we never thought possible, conquering any inner deamons that we fight on a daily basis, showing others that no matter what they say it will not break our spirt, our drive for we are better than that. through our constant breakdown and rebuilding that we go through daily, when we think we are at our weakest, we could not be further from the truth. for at that moment when we might feel weak, we are infact stronger than ever before. this "civilation" that is our mind and body becomes one strong presance in the universe. nothing can stop us or get in our way. i remember a quote that someone told me one day, recently i had forgotten the quote but found it written in one of my old logbooks. "Try not to live your life in "what ifs" for if you do, then your today's will turn into "never happeneds" or something of that nature.

Lowdown and Roland....thank you for support and the words of encouragement. LD what you said above made my day and one day we will meet up and train, share philosohies (sp) and other things.
i gather my fuel, motovation, and drive from everyone here at the forvm and at home. it is amazing what a soild support staff can do not only for your training but how one approaches life and since training is a part of many of our lives it fuels the passion. i remember saying in one of my old posts about stak2 or something of that nature. the quote was "someone who is taking stak2 under 18 is like adding gasoline to a raging fire, it will only get out of control and someone/thing will end up getting hurt." however this is not the case with the support that we gather from everyone here on the forvm, whether in the indivdual journey's, training/diet/supp advice, or sharing life stories.... we all can relate in some form or another on a personal level. that is what makes this place unique, we are all different in our own right, but at the same time we are the same.....
brothers and sisters lets keep training hard, pushing the enevlope with each session, listening to what our bodies have to say, and knowing that when the dust settles we all will shine brighter than we ever did before....

Wheels with G and Juggernaut, Thursday, 9/14/07, 8:10pm...
Seated Hamtractor Leg Curls: 9 sets x 15-12 reps
Leg Extensions: 6 sets x 15-10 reps
Unilateral Leg Curls: 5 sets x 15-10 reps
Abductor Machine: 5 sets x 20-12 reps
Barbell Squats: 6 sets, 365 x 5, 225 x 20
HS Horizontal Calf Raise: 4 sets x 15-12 reps
Seated Calf Raises: 6 sets x 30-12 reps
this was fun....squatting with zero groin after the abductor machine (felt weird doing these)...shocked with the 20 rep squat set. i think the final tally was something insane like 41 sets.....my whole body is numb

sometimes we feel the need to look deep within ourselves and the world around us and take it in for all its beauty. sometimes we sit and ponder about the cards that are delt to us and what we should or need to do with the hand that was delt. we could easily fold the hand and walk away from the table, we could exchange those cards that we feel unnecessary and hope for new ones...or we can make the best out the hand delt. no matter what we decide to do with the hand, in the end we all come out for the better. we could bluff our way through the bad hands, change our hand letting the house do with us as we will, i say that we stand up with what was delt. those people who do not want the best for us want us to come as they want us to be, not as we are. we are different from the general public we are dowsed in mud, soaked in bleach and always striving for more. hunger is what fuels us, we are not a trend and we are not want they want us to be. it is different for many but not the few who go in and find it hard to walk after a session, when we sit on a sunday recovering from a session that we had on a wed.
We do not come as they want us to be, we come as we are, dowsed in the mud that one day will show a greater being, a better person, a greater asset to mankind. we are visonaries, looked down upon, but you know what who gives a fuck, people like Washington, Jefferson, Ghandi, Patton, and Dali were looked down upon with the same light, and now they are admired for their brillance for what they stood for. I say we run the table with the hand(s) that have been delt to us and stand tall. we will not bluff our way to the top but work like mules to get there. for if we come as we were or what they want us to be, then can we truly come as we are or as WE want ourselves to be? it is a long and winding road that leads to an open door filled with endless possibilites, and this road is filled with all people with the same goal....
As I write this I am reminded of Dante's Inferno, were I think it is in Canto 3, the first lines are "Through me the way into the suffering city, through me the way to eternal pain, through me the way way that runs amoung the lost, justice urged on my high artificer, my maker was divine authority, the highest wisdom and the primal love, befre me nothing but eternal things were made and i endure eternally.... Abandon Every Hope Who Enter Here"

That was one solid session right there and the 7 plate rows but more hair on both our chests I think. Next time you have to try putting the 10lb plate down your pants for weighted pull ups and the next set with the 35lb dumbell held onto by your feet, it's a rush....

last thing you need is more hair on your chest to prove your a strong manly man! ;)
Weighted pullups are really good..I do them on occasion..however, I am actually pulling up my heavy ass with this extra weight Im carrying, so technically that's enough of a weighted pullup for me! LOL
SWEET WO BIG W...as always!

great workout bro....think i gotta throw some Tbars in next week...
G Diesel

G does 6 plates for 6 reps and thinks "That was a fucker... Heavy, but a perfect set of 6 with good form. On to the next exercise."
Wides and Juggernaut get done with 6 and say, "We did multiple reps on 6 plates. From this premise, logic dictates that we could go heavier and still get at least one. As such, throw another pie on there. It isn't heavy enough."
That is how I can best differentiate between the mindsets of the bodybuilder (even if he is a power bodybuilder) and the guys with the powerlifter mentality. Nothing illustrates the "go heavier until we can't get one" approach better than these two lunatics last night on the T-Bar. It is both disconcerting and motivating to know that as heavy as I train week in and week out, I'll never suggest something that they'll back down from or punk out on and just as often, they'll challenge me. Peace, G

Wides, Juggernaut and logic all in one sentence....wow. that is the best part of the training when one is doing an exercise the support from the other two is there and helps get through the heavy weights. keep the interesting challanges coming, they are fun and exciting at the same time.....challanege each other to get bigger and stronger

Great posts, the best part is finding clothing from our "smaller days" that don't fit anymore... F that, I'm buying baggy shit for now on cause Wides, G and myself are going to be spending too much on replacement ou
