all is well homer, its a great priveldge to workout with those two monsters, as intense and mind-blowing the sessions are, at the same moment they are down to earth. but each one is a challange on what the human body can handle, and how far it can grow

what is it that seperates the masses of people from those who run when the shit hits the fan and between those who stay and confront it? is it a direct result of what should not have been spoken, or have so many people sold not only themselves but what they believe in for 30 pieces of silver? this topic only comes to mind as i sit here because of what is happening in the world around us, or perhaps it is the battle within us that is fueling this as well. i am a firm believer that whatever negative energy that may be around us or in us can ultimaltey be turned into the positive and for the better. for instead of selling whatever we have for 30 pieces of silver, we keep those pieces and build upon them something that can not be broken. words and actions break bones, but they can heal them just as fast as they break them. i can only think of a good friend of mine who was one of the Lost Boys of the Sudan.....who came here asking for nothing, who did not sell his 30 pieces of silver, but made something out of it. not taking it easy at all, and those simple actions have inspired me to become a better person....one whose outlook on the world has changed.....for the better. open-mindedness and free thought is something that has escaped modern man.....everyone is afraid to be a free thinker.....i say fuck that shit.....think freely, act freely this is America a nation founded on those very principles. harness the raw power and thought that those before us have embraced, so that when or if the shit ever hits the fan, we can stand their knowing that our morals, thoughts, work ethic, desires and dreams can not be bought for 30 pieces of silver

yeah its a combo of reading beyond the lyrics, things that have happened/going on in my life, and the general mindset of the general population sometimes fuels these inner thoughts. like a lot of events, words, actions sometimes the meaning of what is trying to be related lays beyond what appears in black and white

liked those DC chins, i felt i was able to get a nice long stretch when hanging, now that we have set a standard with the single pie on the chins, we are going to have to test how many pies we can handle. and the B-Ball cardio was an eye opener, for me to lay it out how out of shape i am......was a good session

nice session bro...Speaking of adding weight to the stack...On Sat when I went on to hit bench, Big Mike was just finishing up on his squats. Homeboy is like 5'-6"/5'-8" and clocks in at 275, his legs are so big he has that funny walk we all want. He hit 860 on squats and said that the 910 he had on there would not stop bouncing so he racked it.....He then moved on to the leg extension machine. Pinned the stack, then hung a 35, then went around the gym a collected all the little 5 and 10# bricks that you can add on top of the stack. was so high that there was only about a foot from the top of the stack to the top of the machine. He did like 4 sets of 10....You monsters amazing me, and give me a goal to work towards, some day I too will walk funny...

i think today was legs day in philly and new york..your reading my mind again extra wides..awesome session.shock those wheels...

thanks eblnyc, great minds think alike and train to lamb of god, which gets the blood flowing nicely

thats a hell of a leg day. Awesome job with the squats, especially at the end. You were squatting for as many passing yards as Tony Romo had sunday night........

thanks Jim, the squatting felt good, and i am not going to comment on the Romo statement above

Nice squatting bro...the heavy weight on your back has gotta make the PLer in you feel good. Nice work bro!! Nice session, I can imagine that you are still sore...LOL

thanks IRBS, felt like i was leaning a tad bit forward on the squats instead of sitting back on the 405 set, but was still shocked that i had that in me after all the work done beforehand. after this weekend my body is comfortably numb

I would still be in intensive care, you Philly cats are killing it.

thanks LD, just one day, one rep at a time and we will eventually get to the promised land.

Saw this quote and thought of you,

"And they rode into Vallhalla, conquerors, men who faced battle and won. And when asked what their greatest feat of strength and honor was, they responded that they had never once given up, no matter the odds. And that night at a great feast, they ate and laughed. For they knew as the dawn approached that battle was at hand again"

thanks John, that quote fits a lot of members here and those who train. we must never give up no matter what the odds are, for if we do then the house has won, but we go against the odds and beat the house, then we have just made another step in our journey. each day is def. a battle, i am grateful that i can go into battle for there are some who can not

I'm just sorry you were not around for "Sofa Toss," "Armoire Tackle" and "Stair Sprints" with Entertainment Center.

snatch - barx5, 65x5, 95x5, 135x2, 155x2, 185x2, 195x2
cleans - 135x5, 155x5, 185x3, 205x3, 225x3, 255x3
jerk - 135x2, 185x2, 225x2, 255x2, 275x2
squats - 135x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x2, 365x2, 405x2, 435x2

the reason why the reps were kept low is to keep the lifts explosive. the snatches took a while to get used to again but once i found the sweet spot on the bar all was well.....really not to disapointed in the lifts since its been a while, but at the same time i am (form wise, mentality, ect.).......but i can't complain because i had the ability to train today, which some people dont.......

I was begining to understand that feeling..it sure took a toll on my wrists though. My wrists are just almost back to normal! I had to take a break cause the snatch move was very new to me and of course I wanted to fling some weight...sure is harder than it looks!

thanks Toni, when i was warming up first with the snatches i was going slow to see if my body remembered how to do them, it felt weird as anything since i was taking it off the rack and couldnt get my hands wide enough on the bar, but when i moved to the 135 set which i did full, the damn weight flew up like nothing and nearlly went behind my head. needless to say i calmed down after that. now i remembered why i used to do these workouts as a pre-season lifting schedule by the way i feel now.....but its a good feel

short and sweet, wanted to do some board presses of a 3 board however couldnt find the boards.....knowing me i probably put them somewhere so i could find them. the decline felt weird but it always does can never find a good groove on the thing.....the flies and hs bench were to flush and stretch the pecs out, focused more on contraction than anything else

Back with G and Juggernaut, Monday, 11/12/07, 8:05pm...

Wide Grip Pulldowns: 5 sets, 280 x 4 on last set
Jailhouse T-Bar Rows: 6 sets, 6 pies x 9 on last set
HS High Rows: 4 sets, 5 plates per side x 4 on last set
HS Underhand Pulldowns: 3 sets, 3 plates per side x 5 reps on last set

Leg Press Calf Raises: 7 sets, 12 plates x 12 reps on last set

Floor Crunches (Knees Raised): 4 sets x 25 reps

well aside from my graceful fall out of the HS pulldown machine, it was a good session. little rusty on the jailhouse rows, had trouble finding my footing on the last set. also saw Speed Racer at Globo Gym, which made us all wonder "Why?"...... the cast of characters is growing by leaps and bounds at that place

I love those old skool tbar rows (that's what you mean by jailhouse, right?)..I find I have that same issue with the footing on like my first set..then Im cool from there. I swear though, being short has its disadvantages cause sometimes I pull too hard and that bar slams me..you know what I mean? I dont know how you guys dont have a few accidents..or maybe you do? LOL...6 pies too! wow!

Interesting what you said about flys. Im not stressing so much on pushing heavy weight on flatbench right now, as long as I get controlled reps with the 135. Im definitely more comfortable on incline db presses, incline barbell and incline flys. I can get 10 reps on a good day with 40's on incline flys. So Im what I am wondering is, are my incline presses strong because my incline flys are so strong? I guess I never actually thought the science out you know? I just figure my incline is stronger than my flat..maybe not in pounds per se, but as far as my comfort with 135 on the incline as opposed to 175 on flat bench, I feel I have better power and control on the incline poresses than I do the flat bench. Did that make any sense at all? LOL

hmmmm.....you do make some soild arguments there Toni that support what I said, I personally feel that the more muscle fibers that can be recruited or isolated the more the overall muscle will develop. Also, why I think that the flies will help with overall strength is that it is a weighted stretch for the muscle and strectching helps the muscle recover better and allows more nutrients into the fibers. I have only come to these conclusions based on how I've trained in the past, judging my progress when I included flies in my routines and when I did not.....so it was kind of a demented field study. I do not see myself taking flies out of the picture anytime soon, but maybe adding different aspects of training to them.,....

BW,

Don't know if you have ever read anything by Steve Holman from Ironman, but his testing supports what you are saying. He has found that the greatest muscle growth and strength increases are achieved when a muscle is worked through 3 stages, stretch, contracted and midrange. For upper chest he recommends that you do the following

Upper chest
Midrange: Incline barbell presses, incline dumbbell presses
or Smith machine incline presses

Stretch & Contracted: Incline flyes

This works the muscle through all 3 positions.

hmmmm.....you do make some soild arguments there Toni that support what I said, I personally feel that the more muscle fibers that can be recruited or isolated the more the overall muscle will develop.

Agreed my chest did not start completing until I "CONSISTENTLY" DID FLYS...Everybody is diffrent though I know guys who dont do them and have that complete look. One of the things that I have always heard is if you can fly what you press your chest will blow up..

Nice shoulder day 125 is a milestone bro even though it took you three hours to put it up...lol...

I have always loved incline anything really. I just showed this dude the other day to do incline flys and he was shocked. He never knew about them and when he tried them he was like holy shit! Too funny really. But your right, his chest was really wide cause of all the bench pressing he does, along with decline bench, but he lagged thickness in the upper pecs. I love bench press cause for me, its a strength issue more than a sculpting my chest issue. I use incline presses and flys as my main sculpting/building exercises. I love that fullness in the upper chest area, especially on men!

I do use pec dec and cables for isolations along with db decline presses. For me, chest being one of my strengths, I dont want it overpowering my look...but I do love training chest from all angles.

Definately true. I had the same experience once upon a time. A guy saw me doin incline flyes and was confused as to what I was doing. I'm really tryin to pound the Inclines, there my favorite :)

Two awesome sessions here Mr. Wides. Awesome job with the flat bench. I feel your pain with that back issue though. I've had to continuously work with it when it decides to flare up. Keep it up though, you'll be squattin the 400's again in no time.

I quite literally see it as a growth window that we rarely get in our hectic modern lives... Take advantage of it bro. Get all of your training in over the holiday, cuz you know I will. Peace, G

thanks Jim, gotta be smart while training, its all part of the game to work around the little knocks smartly go get to your goals.......i've trained both smart and dumb and i have to say the smart way is the easiest way

Likewise, when I was younger I was an idiot. My form was horrid and I'm lucky I didn't get injured. Now I train smart...when something doesn't feel right, don't push it. There is always a safer substitute.
