Every night at 11pm TAPS is played. Every night, I am reminded of the brave and the bold before me, who fell. Reminded of MY brother in arms who shared the same fate as so many in the past. Every night am I disgusted that things like that are so easily forgotten about and even outright disrespected by the people of MY nation. Disgusted, at the fact that so many people could have the audacity to despise Chris Stambaugh or anyone else who passed, for the simple fact we chose to wear this uniform. Never did I imagine people could actually despise the United States military man/woman. Not "still" just "got" ab definition..lol. It is and isn't hard. BEin here helps a lot with the cutting, but it's a bitch cuz I'm beat a lot and the meal "plan" is all jacked up. But they are "Animal friendly" here. Midnight chow! lol Thanks for checkin in bro! :)

My military pals (Canadian Forces) in Afghanistan are all gaining weight. The food they get is crap and in order to get enough protein they have to take in a couple of extra thousand calories a day! I wonder if you guys have netter cooks.

Also depends on how you w/o. If they aren't doing it as much then I can see how they'd gain weight. I try my best to stay healthy(as much as I can, w/ military chow it's hard) and w/o's too. Maybe Afghanistan cooks are upset about their contract, lol. Our cooks are all civilian DoD contractors. But yeah most of the food is crap and the fact there are junk food places here doesn't help either.

That is something I like about this place. Helping me learn some self control, Charley's subs is calling my name but I just won't let myself go there.lol

This is probably a contributing factor. They've sent me pics of them using ammo boxes and eachother for weight since the facilities aren't the greatest.

Subs huh? I hear you about the temptation. The GFs been eating them almost every day. It's what she's been craving and it gets hard for me to resist. We have a sub shop here called Papou's Place that serves an enormous sub stuffed to the max for only $5! I look at those and weep. It's good that you can still pass that up too. I don't feel so bad now.

Thanks big bro... idk what it is about my legs and back but they seem to hold the ability to do the same weight longer than my arms seem to. Like that break in lifting seemed to KILL my arms but my back and legs are pretty close to the same. Weird

next time though, go from the bar, to like 65lbs, then 85lbs, then 95..work it up. Dont jump into them so fast, like you did here starting with the bar then right into 95lbs. These are very isolated and concentrated movements and too many people do them all wrong. Your glutes and hams are working here too. I always keep a slight bend in my knees, bend at the hips to lower your torso and stick your ass out, stretching the hams and glutes in the process as you lower the weight to parallel.

agreed..the region of the lower abdominal area is the hardest to strengthen and develop, but let's remember one important thing here. Your "six pack" muscles run from the pelvis to the ribcage, and work as a unit. You can't exercise "just" the lower abs. You can, however, initiate a contraction of your abs from the upper, lower, or side portion of the abdominals. The only way to perform such exercises properly is to build it up slowly. Your transverse abdominus has alot to do with this so core training is the first step. Use the physio ball for one..hey, if Enforcer gets his big self on a ball, so can you! ;)

Keep in mind, losing bodyfat in that area means alot to having them show through...but they wont show through if they arent there. You need to develop that muscle area first, under the fat and water.

Im also gonna tell you, your posture means a lot when it comes to abdominals and low back. If you have poor posture, like when you slouch, your shoulders and lower abdominals lean forward, and your pelvis tips backward, making the natural curve in your spine more pronounced.

My abs routines are really intense...I do all kinds of exercises using weights, my bw and medicine balls...physio balls too.

Some tougher exercises would be hanging leg and knee raises with static holds, vertical bench leg raises, vertical bench scissor leg ext's, decline bench leg raises (with a hip lift), slant board reverse crunches. I do loads of things on the physio ball but they are hard to describe..would have to show you. Maybe I should try an make a vid? I dont know how to do that stuff. lol

Everything looks killer, you put up some good numbers and hella volume. Probably wouldn't want to do that every day but the body needs a good ass whippin from time to time, and you thoroughly did just that! I know you were hurtin by the time you hit the sumos. All I can say is great job pushin through the pain and gettin it done! Killer!

My legs don't hurt that much after yesterday's workout. IMO it was WAY harder than last weeks but I'm not feeling it today. MY Hams hurt and quads only when I flex 'em.

Any clues as to why?

always remember, legs take 2 days to feel the full effects... there will be many times where i dont feel like i am hurting after some workouts... i go kick my ass again. now, i am not saying for you to do this.... but this can be the case at times... my 2nd workout is always a lot lighter and a lot higher reps.

That's how it always is for me. No quad pain... unless I am low on electrolytes, then I get cramps.

Lift it whether you feel up to it or not. Keep your air in, your back tight, your head up, and drive through your heels. You can't miss it.

A trick I sometimes utilize to get into the correct mindset...

Take a moment and clear your mind. Think the person you love most is in danger. Their life depends on you lifting this weight. Can you do it? You'd better be able to.

Very good workout Ray! Since I have refined my workout, I have found that flyes have really helped my chest development and they were an exercize I have over looked in the past. They really give your chest a gooooood stretch!

Everything else on there looks really good. Keep it up!

I feel pain in my shoulder rather than my chest...wtf!? I need a trining partner! lol Stiff told me he has the same issue and it has something to do with "lift-off" and well can't get help with that ya know?

Very good workout days there Ray. I always think to myself "do I really want to put in my journey that I only did 9, and not 10?" So I hate when I don't get that last rep, but sometimes you just can't do it. And yes, you will get mad at yourself, but perhaps the next time, or the time after, you will get that elusive last rep and you will think to yourself how easy it was and how well you are progressing.

OK IM BAAAAAAAAAAACCKK!!

Whew after bein gone (from the weights) about a week cuz I was just utterly exhausted. We were running far north missions and running from sun down to sun up or later everyday.

So I'm back in the rear for a day. Tomorrow will be legs.

I'm excited for this legs workout because I got a lot of help from Thrawn on advice and suggestions for front squats which I am going to incorporate form now on. I've never done front squats but that is why I am excited about doing 'em. I think wheneve you can add something new it's exciting.

So I will see ya'll tomorrow with LEGS!

THANKS BRO! some of it was just seemed like awkward splits to me. I have different mindsets in workouts so to speak and Chest and Bi's then Shoulders and tri's seemed weird to me. So I decided I wanted each w/out to work the major/same body parts. So arms are together, shoulders and chest are pretty much stand alone and then I have multiple days for calves cuz they could use some work and multiple days for abs and heavy (30+) mins of cardio because at the end of this cut I really want abs to be most improved. I'm almost to my weigth goal so now it's time to focus on the abs for the last 10 weeks.

I slept with my ex (Rob don't kill me, it was kim. but it was one last hoo-rah to get her outta my system), and made out with a few(2) girls. Well in that same time she apparently made out with my best friend. I was open and truthful about everything I did with or felt for any other girl. She hid this. Hid it and held MY actions over my head knowing what she did. Her excuse is they had been up all night and were extremely tired,like the slurring your speech tired. BUT earlier in the night he had asked her if he could kiss her and she said no. She planned on hiding it longer too, her exact words were "If we ever get married, break up and it's a bad break up I'll tell you and if we break up but it's a break up we still talk afterwards then someone else will tell you" This all came up cuz I asked her just randomly ya know, if there was ever anything she'd never told me. She said yes and that she only would when one of those 3 things happened because it's not only something that affects her, it affected other people. YAH, ME AND MY BESTFRIEND! idk what to do bro's and sis's. Right now I'm angry and just feel like saying Fuck it. I've already done something I didn't want to because I thought she was worth it. I came over here with a girlfriend (something I really didn't want to do) but I thought she was worth it, and do love her. I'm at a loss....help?

That's a toughie. And while right now I'm not in the position to dole out woman advice (I guess if you really want to know talk to Rob, as me thinking/talking about it just makes me down.) What I can say is...relax. First and most importantly, get a cool head and think. The situation sucks, and you certainly can't let it just go by, but it sounds like this girl is important, and well, if your best friend is anything like a "best friend" then he's damn sure worth keeping around.

if It was just a harmless one night thing, I'd let it go (remember, I'm saying this as a 3rd party, and not one directly involved. Who knows what shades of red I would be).

Alot of people on here would say "fuck them both", but if they are worth hanging onto, you need to realize that we all slip up...you certainly have (from what's been said up above). Good luck!

I'm over it....fuck it man like you said...I did my fair share. A lot more and WORSE things than her. It's not the Action (on her behalf) that angered me, it was the deception and hiding it. She lied to me. but....I can be the bigger person as you say. "Water on the ducks back."

As far as Mark...idk I'm as pissed as a 400lb wildebeast who just got clawed by a bitch ass lion(not saying lion's are bitches, just a "bitch ass" lion.) But he has been the most loyal friend I have had til this point. Always has my back ,joined the Army to rush over here to stand side by side with me and make sure I get home safe. I'm the only person he can trust and fully count on.

The mistrust on her behalf and that from him are the things I'm pondering. How big of an affect I want those actions to have on my relationship with these 2. That is what I need to seriously identify and assess.

wo's lookin good. Those GM's are gonna come up..your DL'ing 315, so those GM's gotta come up to help your pulls even moreso. One thing I can def vouch on with is that since I have been doin GM's, getting stronger with them too, they have helped me stabilize a hell of a lot better with all my heavy compound lifts and thank God...no back issues to talk about as of yet other then my sleeping on the floor which causes my back to get super tight. But those GM's are like one of the best exercises you can do to strengthen your core and low back. Im liking reverse hypers as well.

I was itchin to do 115 on GM's today, but sleeping on the floor is limiting my flexibility somewhat. 105 was taxing enough for me today with good form. I see guys in my gym doin GM's so wrong and yet they dont hurt themselves and I seriously dont get it. These guys curls their backs and their asses are like sucked into their stomachs...its painful to watch.

Then they watch me do them and they look at me like Im an idiot! LOL....

keep doin your thing..those GM's have helped me with my pulls, my deads, even with maintaining a stronger core. Respect the movement and use the weight wisely.

9 US soldiers were killed in Afghanistan yesterday, when 200 or so Afghani militants attempted to overrun a US Outpost. Numerous others were wounded in the seige and today, the base was abandoned. This was the most deadly attack in Afghanistan since 2005.

Today was just my Combat Gear run.... Sergeant MAjor(SGM) decided he wanted to stop me and ask me what I was doing. (kinda obvious I thought! lol). He stopped me and asked what the hell i was doing. I simply said "running SGM". He then asked me why I was in my gear. Again simple respectful answer. "Train how you fight SGM" "Stay Hydrated Corporal" was the response. He's a decently cool guy for being Cav so I wasn't upset, lol. But I did just find out today he's a sellout...he was originally Infantry and now he is SGM of the Cav unit I'm attached to. ::shakes head::

1st Army tends to use ball pin hammers on .50Cals so...there may be truth to that statement. HAHA!

That's good to believe in yourself. The motivation quote in my sig came to me n basic which is when I realized the Drill Sergeants motivated us by fear or reward but the kind of motivation that really mattered...is your own. That's the way you excel, the other ways just get the job done. Best wishes man.

Something that came to me while walking to my workout today don't know if it will portray the passion and feeling in it that I had while thinking of it but here goes...

"Everyday in passing I hear guys ask eachother if they want to go workout. I am to the point now where I don't bother asking anymore. While they are saying yes to their other buddies and doing their own thing I walk in the silent dark for a half mile to my domain.

Trust me I have asked for a training partner...there's always an excuse.

I have been training on my own since I left from "beneath Rob's wing". I say that with utmost sincerity. Rob helped me along in so many ways.
So working out alone is not a strange thing to me. I have just noticed the lack-luster amounts of work guys here are willing to put in.

They see me on days when I come back from a killer session and I may wince in slight pain from the beating I just handed myself. Then, I shoot a menacing smirk back to 'em and say "Missed a helluva great workout." With which they return a smile that someone would give to the crazy guy who sits in New York preaching about the end of time being tomorrow.
So as I walk alone the sound of my feet on the gravel, the generators in the background and my thoughts being the only sounds I notice. I begin to wonder why it is I walk alone...
To have the dedication we have for this life...you have to be ok with being alone. Alone we eat,alone we train and alone we shine. These words from an article I read here ring through my head.

I continue walking and as my footsteps echo in my ears, the sound begins to grow...like the slow steady crescendo of a classical masterpiece. I realize the sound is the other members of the Legion who walk the same dark path ALONE to their gyms everyday.

Suddenly, I'm not alone but surrounded by brothers and sisters in IRon.

As I approach the doors the sound is almost unbearable, I open the door and silence hits instantly as I drink in what is the nectar of the gym.

I am alone and I like it...cause it just leaves that much more for me to drink and use to try to quench this insatiable thirst.

This is what seperates us from the ones who always have an excuse to turn down an offer from me. We look at lifting in such a different way. It's something we need, something we MUST do. They do it only by choice."

Ok so maybe I have dabbled with writing a little bit. This was crazy though. I thought all this as I was walking to my workout today.Suddenly working out alone here wasn't such a bad thing anymore. I figured it might be something worth sharing.

Sometimes working out alone is MUCH better than with a partner. Lifting with you and Matt, have been some of the best workouts ive ever had.. but i have lifted with partners that SUCKED. and they completely fuct up my lifting session because i took too much energy and time fixing their shit.

having a Proper lifting partner. makes the world of difference.

and when the lifting partner is MIA... lifting alone, is the best thing in the world.

so keep kicking ass. because remember, i am right there next to you, screaming at you with every rep. pushing you harder than you could imagine brother.
