I've come to find out. If you don't like something you must bust your ass to change it. Anyone that walks in a gym outta shape, or whatever the problem might be for that perticular person. If they are busting their ass. They have my respect. You feel your carrying too much bodyfat, diet it off buddy.
Demotivation, motivation, all come in cycles. That's why you are on this forum bro! I'm sure the comments you gonna have will act as a swift kick up the butt. Hope mine does.lol
At least you know what's wrong. Abs don't appear without cardio, cardio (i've just been told that myself) and not moving weights can be demotivating. But big picture thinking's what the game is about. You have to do it. It's about discipline.
I'm referring to Machine's 10 rules.
Rule 4: Don't be a fucking pussy. Life hurts. So does loneliness, and so does change. But they are all necessary for your growth.
See?

I remember back then about 6 years ago and measly 170 lbs. when I first started working out, it was a new experience and I felt the same way as you. I felt intimidated because of my lack of size and the experienced guys who know what they're doing. I pushed hard and earned my way into becoming better than those same guys and it only took a matter of time. It all starts within yourself and how badly you want to achieve these goals through diet and consistent training routine. Remember that everyone starts somewhere...
don't sweat it man. you are making the first and hardest step; getting your ass in the gym. hard work and determination and soon you'll be feelin' like you own the place. Don't give up.

Couldn't have said it better myself!!!
Yes, you have already taken the hardest step in your journey... now just start making your way to the finish.

Remember that every time you go, your getting one step closer to where you want to be. Do you train with music? I advise it. Get an MP3 player, load with you favorite tunes, and tune out everyone else.
Also get a good program. Often the people I see quit dont know what they're doing. Get a program, lift heavy, eat proper, and you WILL see results. Thats just fuel for the fire baby!!!
i feel that. the problems for me were always getting into a groove, seeing massive changes, and then i would get sick, twice with bronchidas*sp?*. and had to stop everything; eating, supps, and training, for a few weeks. it would make me sad to finally get back into the gym, looking scrawny and not being able to do what used to come easy. my way of getting out of the demotivated mode was to look at what others had, and wanting that; and looking at what others didnt have, and feeling better than them.

I'm going to toss a term your way and it is "limiting beliefs". usually when we explore the limiting beliefs they don't stand up...they are creations we made up in our mind.
it is Important to understand that every limiting belief is made with a positive intention from the unconcious mind.
questions:
how would things have to be in order for you to feel like you do belong at the gym?
what do you feel awkward about?
who does belong at the gym?
food for thought

hey man i feel you, im not the skinny ripped magazine type either im not in bad shape but im no where near my goal, but i used to be a really fat shit. and ya i will addmit that sometime in the gym you feel like shit beacause all these other guys are ll in shape but you know what thats whats gotta drive you to put forth even more effort then them to get there. ya know thats what helped me out a lot. i look at these guys and i wanna be like them so i went after it and im well on my way, but its alos i never ending journey. you also have to remember that "it took a long time to put on the fat and its gonna take a long time to get rid of it too " so dont expect like 6 weeks to be jacked and ripped its gonna take some time but if you got the heart and motivation and all of us here on this site we can help you through the bad times and work your way to the new body you want. lata bro

Dude I can relate to you. Sometimes I'm like fuck it why am I doing all this shit. To impress a girl, no they dont give a shit. Then I realize I do all this shit, because I want to break down my own limitations of what I thought I can be. It's so easy to say fuck it; or who cares. It always takes guts and discipline to keep going.
Only the mind can limit the body.
You don't think you belong in the gym cause of that? Look outside the gym bro, check out the millions that are in terrible shape and have weight problems that didn't even show enough discipline to START going to the gym. You feel awkward at a training facility because your body is a little untrained? Think about why they were built dude. That's the whole reason for em.

It's in your head broheim. No one in there is thinking you're fat. It's just you. Keep your head up, keep in the gym. Walk in there without a doubt in your mind that you're the shit and bust out a good workout. Just as much as you always have to remember that there's always someone bigger, leaner, stronger than you, also remember there's always someone fatter, and slower as well! Really, working out, and fitness in general is 50% in your head. Sometimes moreso.
Go get 'em man!
Jeff
I must say it is good you gotta start some where. The one thing about going up a hill is the thought that at the top it wil level out and you will be able to walk comfortable. You can see my weight is 220lbs, three years ago I found out I was a diabetic and I was sad for a while my weight was like 265 lbs I decided instead of sitting around being sad I followed a meal plan did a lot of research and I went from 265 to 187lbs I have packed on a lot of muscle in a year or so my body fat was a whopping 39 % now it is 20% and getting lower, but the funny thing is I just added on 5 pounds in the last month and a half I have not done a fat analyst yet next month I will see. So keep at it bro I hope this helps you.

Hey we all gotta start somewhere. I was embarrassed when I started working out sophomore year in high school and couldn't bench 100lbs. But now I got kids coming up to me asking me about lifting and supplement advice, specifically with the question "What do YOU take?"

I hear ya brother. After I graduated high school, I bypassed several scholarships...and just got fat. I bolted up to like 320...from 255 this was about in the spring semester of 06. It was probably the most embarassing time of my life, people would just look at me in dismay to see how much weight I have gained. But I got my shit straight, Im back down to 270 and at a lower body fat percentage than when I was at 255 so I am leaner, and looking to drop to 197. Im wrestling again I was lucky enough to get a second chance in St. Louis, and Ill be making my arrival there next semester.
It takes heart, you got to know what you want. You have got to beat your body and make it your slave. Once you beat yourself...anything can be accomplished.

Kid, let me tell u, the thing thats 'wrong' with u is the fact that u THINK something is wrong with you.
Remember bro, all of us are different, unique, individual.
dont listen 2 what other peeps tell u, ignore the stares, the gossip.
its all just bullshit holding u back from ur true potential.
ask urself these questions; whon am i really? ,whats my deepest desires?, what goals do i want 2 set for myself? & then commit urself to achievement.
find some motivation, a video, some tunes, a picture, heck, anything that makes u FEEL good 2 b alive and willing to make a change in the future.
The key is the FEELING, imagine how great it would b to have what u desire, physically, spiritually, whateva, and FEEL that desire burn.
After all, this is your life & its a wonderful gift, theres plenty o cats out there who never even felt the joy that life has to bring. live in the moment, not the future, today is a brand new day with opportunity everywhere, just take a look around& ull b surprised what uve been missing.
theres a zen buddist saying, "before enlightenment, chop wood carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water." theres gold in that, THINK about it.
I think the animal version is best described by Henry rollins; "The iron never lies to u, U can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, Get told ur a total bastard, or a god The iron will always kick u the real deal. The iron is the greatest reference point, the all knowing perspective giver, Always there like a beacon in the pitch black, I have found the iron to be my greatest friend, it never freaks out on me never runs. Friends may come and go, but two hundred pounds, is still two hundred pounds."
Good luck bro, stay strong and all life has 2 offer can be yours, believe that.
peace
Hey you've already made the biggest step, commiting yourself, most people can't do that, and that's what will seperate you from the rest of 'em in the end. Keep on keepin' on.
