Ok, this will probably get thrown under the rant thread; however, I gotta vent on this one. At the gym today and was in between sets when I look over at the flat bench and see these three, relatively skinny, college age kids (each wearing a piece of yarn for a shirt) gettin' ready to hit a set. I noticed that they had 225 on the bar, and quite frankly, I'd be shocked if they would have been able to press it once. Anyway, the first guy goes to un-rack the bar with his two buddies spotting on each side; the dude seriously didn't even do a half-rep. After the half rep set (which was done only once), this guy proceeds to start flexing in the mirror eating up the encouragement from his buddies. The other two guys went afterwards, and it was prety much the same story. Quite honestly (I know this sounds bad), I had the urge to wanna grab the bar, push it down to this guy's chest, and let him lift from there. Anyway, I know I'm probably gonna get a 100 responses saying focus on what you're doing and don't worry about others (which I'd typically agree with), but sorry bros, I need to vent on this one...take it for what it's worth.

Its all good bro. We all deal with idiots. Frankly, i wouldnt have blamed you a bit for making them do a full rep.

Similar thing happened to me this evening...
But didn't really help me... I chose the middle power rack today... to my left a 150LBS rugby player doing 1/4" ROM squats... and to my right a guy who was using a belt and also doing 1/4" squats... I started with deads... which got their attention but soon after I did front squats...
Buried those fuckers down so my ass almost touched the ground... within 3 seconds of racking the weight I was getting lectured... Couldn't stand it...
Basically I Front Squated 275... basically the same thing these guys were doing with their 1/4 squats... Then they go around talking flexing... and proceed to lecture me... I personally just use it as extra fire...
There is a reason I basically go deaf during every training session... So I don't have to listen to the random banter and bad suggestions people have... Not going to lie... I am a collage student... but I'd rather not cut corners and look like a big poser... I let my numbers do all the talking in the weight room after I check my ego at the door... To this day I am still humbled by the little things I learn from the more experienced lifters...

i understand where you guys are coming from, i workout at my college gym and its aggravating when guys do more weight than they can, or just workout there upper bodies. Next time it happens just unleash hell on the weight you are working out with. Its the only true way to put them in there place. Which im sure yall know.

i wouldve done it.
Its ok to rant...no worries...we all have the experience of running into all sorts at the gym.....it cant be helped...its just how shit goes....I think its just so funny when the younger non animals do this kind of thing...just laugh it off...as long as no one is in danger....its just what it is. I had a fellow the other night ask me when I was on seated cable close grip pulls...back day...and right in the middel of a rep with 285lbs...this dumb ass is standing there at my feet trying to get my attention and ask me in his native giberish if I needed the rope for tri pull downs...RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FRIGGEN SET...well the responce I gave him when I was done was..."did'nt ot you see me in the middel of a set you fucken idiot!!!!!...you dont talk to anyone that is in the middle of a set of pushing weight...Jesus....
he got the message...

What did these guys lecture you on?
It drives everyone crazy
I remember when I was just 17 and had just started lifting, there was this woman who would do Smith Machine squats with two 45's on each side. She would brag about how strong she was, that most men couldn't do it, and everyone was amazed. I watched her do a set, and she went less than a fifth of the way down. I said "it's amazin what you can do when you only go down 2-3 inches!" I got some mean looks, but I couldn't help myself.
As for pushing the bar down, just show them how a real Animal does it, the right way (no matter how tempting it is!)!
I had the urge to wanna grab the bar, push it down to this guy's chest, and let him lift from there.
I work as a trainer in what used to be a lifters gym and recently has become more and more globo gym.
I see this shit all day everyday - punks who should be in the supercircuit learning the basics.
Numerous times i've had my own CLIENTS, tell me to go and sort out the punk....being a respectful trainer, i oblige reguarly!
Next time bro, get that bar onto his chest and leave him to push the fucker up again!

Yea people are fucking stupid bro. Who are these people kidding when only squatting a few inches or letting their buddies get a trap workout while benching lol. It's all in their pathetic egos and deep down inside they know they are not truly capable of pushing heavy weight in good form.

I work at a gym and im the floor staff..and i see this guy, load the bench with 225 and i want to watch him bench it because i can tell he isnt going to do many reps...he managed to bust out 5 reps but didnt even go half way down...i just laughed it off, he did 2 more sets the same way and i finally got pissed and decided to ask him if he needed a spot...so now im spotting him and after the first rep i say to him....touch your fucking chest man...you aint working shit...the next rep he brings it down to his chest and couldnt bench it back up. i told him to leave his ego at the door and touch your chest..he went down to 185 and touching his chest. and struggled like crazy.
it is frustrating to watch ppl like this but u just need to confront them in a nice way lol.

theres a thread 'things that fucking annoy me about my gym' or something like that. this will end up there.
my gym is good. the younger folk know to seek counsel from the older folk if they want to fit in there. its almost like one big family.

Sounds like a great gym. Too bad it's on the other side of the pond.
